Hi Amy I had a chuckle as well about the double stamps because I have done exactly that with the splatter stencil, in fact the new one arrived today and I also realized earlier today that I already had one lol 😂. You are not alone .....
For staining, I cut felt circles, size appropriate, and glue them to the ends of corks, caps of empty glue sticks, etc., etc., and apply my stain. When they get grungy, I either replace the felt or toss them and make a new one. You can make several for different colors. I also use KIWI shoe polish for staining, it comes in at least 3 colors that I know of. I buy the small size tin because it tends to dry out. My staining comes out beautiful and I'm very pleased. It works for me, I hope it works for you.
I am loving this journal process. I was trying to tell you to test the Santa stamp first but all went well. I, too, have found 2 of a beloved item. I had 2 of the same craft books I ordered from a book club. Lol. I can't wait to see the completed journal. Thanks for sharing the process.
Aw, Huni, don't give it a thought about jumping up and down.....you don't do it much, and it makes it so real like we are there with you!! And, believe me, the others I watch do it too, and a few do it A LOT!!! It isn't bothersome at all, I don't give it a second thought and so I'm betting 99% of your subbies don't either!! And, we all do it at home, and I have to do it a WHOLE lot more!! Hugs! LOL, I a wonder if the woman whom this Christmas journal is for , well her son actually, I wonder If He will ever know how very *Famous* his journal is when he gets it!!! So many people around the world watched the whole process of making his journal that it will certainly be well known as the journal that Gayle made for 'that' lady's son!!!! (grinning!!) And, besides that, I and I bet lots of others may be copying as closely as possible for our own sons too!!!! And as far as buying two of the same thing....well, I am extremely embarrassed to say I've done this with many things too often to even mention!!! And tell please, that you didn't really throw the 2nd Santa stamp away???? I would have purchased it from you for full price or more!!!!
yomamadawg365 the price of my journals depends on the size, the number of one of a kind vintage pieces included, time and materials. A journal like I'm making here could be anywhere from $95 to $125. Hope that helps! ❤️
My Dollar tree has the white wedge type, not round like hers. I sell Avon Gayle and we have those rounded ones, they are 2.99 but last forever. I will send you a pic on FB. I love animals too, Zoo's are my favorite place to visit when in a big town. Fun!
I have definitely purchased the same craft supply twice-I bought the same little package of origami papers at Tuesday Mornings in the same month-oh well I know I have a style-lol.
Loving this series of videos Gayle, thank you so much for sharing them. I have a friend who does scrapbooking, and when I double up on something I can pass them on to her, stamps, dies, embossing folders, it's great ;o)
Yes I definitely have done that lol . I have bought the same embossing folders too!! I just take them back and exchange for a different one? Well I tried anyway lol. Love this Christmas journal. The santa stamp is gorgeous . This is turning out fantastic. TFS
Gayle, don't feel bad about the two Santa stamps! I bought on the internet two of the same cutting dies from two different vendors. Was not an intentional purchase...
I have tried the sponge things with the distress ink and I don't like them much. Keep in mind, totally could be operator error. I see lots of people love them. Im gonna keep supporting Tim Holtz apparently. Lol. I have to tell you that you have inspired me to make a Christmas journal. I went to hobby lobby today, got some Christmas papers and hit the thrift store and found a whole bunch of vintage cards. Two boxes were all Christmas and then some others that will be great in other journals. I'm gonna message you on Facebook because I'm gonna be by the Denver zoo tomw and I have a little something I wanted to share with you. Maybe our paths will cross. If not I can totally pop in in the mail but we will see.
Your journal is coming along beautifully and I am so enjoying watching the process! I also sew my ruffles the same way, but sometimes I make my ruffles by sewing a large stitch seam down the middle of the fabric, pull the thread to make the ruffles, then either sew it on the paper or glue it on. TFS!
This journal is going to be wonderful Gayle! I'm loving this series. I live in metro Denver - southwest of the city in Littleton. You're going to love the zoo! They've added so many neat new exhibits since your last visit. I used to love going to the old Elitch Gardens before they built the new one downtown. It originated in the early 1900s and was full of beautiful gardens. They had great summer theatre there that featured a lot of movie stars. They also had one of the largest wooden roller coasters. Hopefully we won't have any smoke haze here when you come!
