I've been having some starting issues and figured I'd swap out the starter brushes as they're pretty cheap and easy to do. unfortunately that didn't help the issue and now I believe the battery may actually be at fault. ahh well, I'll keep digging and upload more on this bike.

thanks mate, fixed my 625 sxc. almost no brushes left and a lot of little carbon balls floating around inside the starter

Thanks for that .. I have a similar problem on a higher mileage older 640 adventure.. see if it spins with the decomp lever pulled in (mine does) .. which leads me to suspect a faulty auto decomp. On yours .. you are lucky as its newer, it will likely be a spring replacement on the cam .. on mine .. its a whole cam removal job

does it sound like it spins but doesnt crank the engine.. mine did this and it was the starter clutch..

@@esinen1 no, mine was like this, it seemed to struggle to turn the engine, even with a new battery. If you pull in the manual decomp lever and hold it in, then try to start it.. then if it spins freely and sounds normal (except for starting the bike obviously), then its the auto decomp. For mine, it was not the spring, but a missing step washer in the assembly on the cam. Someone had obviously been in there before, and reassembled incorrectly. It is very common for the pin on the cam to get worn (rounded edge) and this will also exhibit the same behaviour

i got the same , mine intermittently gets nothing , not even a click, nothing. but when i put it in gear and roll a bit and drop the clutch , it turns the crank a bit it will start. i assume its the solenoid, havent got around to fixing it yet

Great video, got a question: Do you have a link for these levers. I can't find any that fit my magura clutch and you got the same. Or maybe the name of them.

hey im the new owner of this bike. got anymore info on what you tried with it. going to look at the sprag,auto decomp ect. any more info would be much appreciated

Hello there, great bike to be fair. I do miss it. I didn't try anything else, I was advised starter brushes and new battery. Seemed to help once the battery was replaced aswell and started off the button. If the issue persists I would certainly look at auto decomp, that would be my next area.

@@steve1993ashley when i got the bike i noticed it was overcharging so the battery was being fried. Replaced the reg/rec.got a lithium battery on it now. I think i will just get used to starting with manual decomp, and if I dont I will look into the auto one

It did help, though didn't fully fix. Suspected failing battery aswell. I sold it a few weeks later with the issue known so unsure as to whether it's fully functional now.
