Starter Pokémon in Pokémon Legends Z-A 

I love how my favorite ones were either nostalgia bait or the exact thing I said was unlikely LOL What three starters do you think are gonna be the ones we go back to Kalos with?

I genuinely hope Snivy is the grass starter. Serperior has so many details that are related to France

I’ve heard from other sources about the possibility of Empoleon(Representing Napoleon), Serperior(Representing French monarchy and style in the past), and then Cinderace(Representing the history of ⚽️ in France and how much it impacts culture)

I think we will be choosing 2 starter Pokémon again like we did in X and Y. We first choose from Snivy, Scorbunny, and Piplup, as their final evolutions will get regional forms. We then choose from the Kalos starters (Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie) as their final evolutions will get Mega Evolutions.

I think Snivy, Scorbunny, and Piplup are the generally most ideal trio just based on how well they tie in to the region, the legitimacy of them getting new forms (I'm kinda just hoping for new megas for their normal final evos bc I don't want to part with Empoleon's amazing Water/Steel typing), as well as how much people are already speculating this exact trio. Plus, I think they got pretty good color diversity.

Seriously hoping it's Serperior. Not only is it fitting design wise it's also my favorite Pokemon and I'd explode from happiness if it got a regional form

Quaxly coming from distant lands is probably a soft reference to Brazil

The starters will be Snivy (Because it's based on french culture), Piplup (Because of its Napoleon inspiration), and Scorbunny (France and their tie with Football).

I believe that Piplup should be included in the game, as Empoleon, one of its evolutions, is based on Napoleon. Given that Napoleon was the leader of the French Republic and the French king, it makes sense for Piplup to be included as well. Additionally, Servine is also based on French royalty and was inspired by Lady Oscar, the main character from the anime "The Rose of Versailles", which is also set in France. Cinderace would also be a fitting candidate, as France has won the World Cup twice.

The starters will likely be Snivy and pipulp for sure since both have France inspirations in their designs(hell empoleon is based of napoleon)

I imagine that if Sprigatito was picked for Legends Z-A, a Kalosian Meowscarada would be themed after mimes (often associated with France)

My theory is that XY starters will get megas, and other 3 that will be the starters for Legends Z-A will receive a kalosal/kalosian(whatever it is called) regional form of their final evolution, same as Legends Arceus.

I’m going with snivy because of the French inspiration, Piplup because of Napoleon, Litten because of the world Fair came to Paris after the revocation.

Snivy and Piplup are obvious choices but I think the fire starter will be Charmander so they can introduce Mega Charizard Z and Mega Charizard A.

Going by Quaquavals inspiration the distant land Quaxly comes from could be a Brazil region on the other side of the ocean

Okay, i read some comments and i think many people have the same idea.. BUT!!! here : My theory is the starter wont get a Mega. The second starter will. Just like in the original XY game. The Legend Z-A starter will be Scorbunny, Piplup, & Snivy with Kalosian form for the final evolution. Then then second starter is Fennekin, Froakie, & Chespin that evolve to regular final form but they will get a Mega Evo. Why? Because they still need a good marketing, if a new regionl form got a Mega Evo, it will be like the 2nd phase of evolution, put a side/forgoten/not many people will like. So we will get : - Kalosian Cinderace. - Kalosian Serperior. - Kalosian Empoleon. - Mega Delphox. - Mega Greninja. - Mega Chesnaugt.

No shot Gen 9 starters are getting new variants.

I feel like the starters are just gonna be the Kalos starters. With Legends Arceus it made sense to not have the Sinnoh starters because we got BDSP like two months prior and it would be boring to have them immediately again. We haven’t really seen the Kalos starters in a while properly, i’d say it would just be them with megas.

Honestly I could see Quaquavel being a Musketeer with his fancy dancing movement he looks like a good sword Pokémon, also I could see him having a fancy hat winking with a water sword very flamboyantly.

We also need to think about the inspiration of the starters, the Kalos starters are based on DnD Classes (Paladin, Wizard, and Rogue) so the new starters could also be based on the other DnD classes as well.

Feel like Snivy and Piplup are the most obvious choices. Piplup because well Empoleon is literally named after Emperor Napoleon, and Snivy because Serperior has the monarchical/royal design.

I hope we get an explanation on who the girl who says “you are not the one” is, Maybe she lost her husband in legends ZA or father or mother or child I don’t know, it would be cool if they explored it, Lumiose city is where you meet her in the first place, Also while thinking about why they leaned into Gen 8 and Gen 5 but then I realised that Gen 6 is in between them (I know Gen 7 is as well but we’ll just ignore that for this) So I think that’s a cool maybe hint towards this game, If I were choosing the starters I would probably have Serperior, Infernape & either Sobble or Quaxly, I think these would be cool choices because I like all of them and would like Inteleon to get more love and Quaxly to get a better evolvution because we all know Quaxwell and Quaqaval are awful (worst Gen 9 starters change my opinion)

As much as I realllllyyy want sprigatito since it’s my favorite grass type starter ever. Snivy just fits kalos so much better, as well as empoleon and then as far as fire I have no idea.

If it was the totodile line you could give them a longer thinner snout as a crocodile. Everyone gets alligators and crocodiles mixed up at some point. You can see that feraligatyr is obviously the alligator due to the name and the wide jaw and head so it is very possible for a thinner faster more streamline version of it as a crocodile.

People forget that french animal symbol is the rooster so torchic is a good option and the most probable trio is snivy piplup and torchic all of them got the own representation of france and in on of the trailer of the dlc 2 they were close to the hisui starter in the presentation

If you want to see my two guesses to what the Starter Trio will be for Legends Z-A without reading everything, just skip to the last paragraph. The middle ones are my explanation and reasoning for how and why I came to those conclusions. • Something to note is that the Legends Arceus Starters actually had relations to Japan before they even had Regional Forms. Samurott is a samurai which then turned into a corrupt samurai. Decidueye is an archer which was actually way more common for Samurai than fighting with a sword, who then turned into a Ronin. And Typhlosion is a bit weird, there's a badger yokai that's like a military general so it still fits the Japanese culture. • For France there are two VERY obvious Starters that can be connected to Kalos. First there's Empoleon, who is based on Napoleon Bonaparte. The there's Serperior who is also based on French Royalty, to which Ken Sugimori specifically named Lady Oscar from the manga series "The Rose of Versailles" which takes place in France. • Now as for the fire starters it's not so clear cut, but there are a couple options that each have some reasoning. First is Blaziken, the rooster just so happens to be the National Animal for France so it fits well. There's another reason Torchic is a candidate which I will bring up later. The second option would be Cinderace, in which soccer is very important in French culture with them having won 2 of the world cups. Another reason is that around the time of the rebuilding of Paris and the Eiffel Tower which is probably when Legends Z-A would take place, well during that time France established their first soccer club. • Now we have 2 fire candidates but you might be thinking since Megas are returning, Blaziken shouldn't be in the running. Well I should add that the main reason Torchic is even being considered is because of that one trailer for the Scarlet/Violet DLC that showed the 3 Legends Arceus Starters paired up with another Pokémon. As fate would have it, Oshawott was paired with Piplup, Rowlet was paired with Snivy, and Cyndaquil just so happened to be paired up with Torchic. It's a pretty darn big coincidence for those exact Starters to be paired with each other, especially since all of them make sense to be in France/Kalos. • I don't think the Legends Z-A Starters should get Megas, I would much rather prefer for us to get Regional Forms for the new trio and then Megas for the Kalos trio. I mean they have another chance at redemption, they can literally give them Megas now to make up for only the Kanto Starters getting Megas in XY. That's another thing, if the Kalos Starters DO in fact get Megas, I don't think they'll give us TWO trios of Starter Megas. • With that all finished, I'm gonna go ahead and say that my guesses for the Legends Z-A Starter Trio are: 1.) Snivy, Torchic, Piplup • and • 2.) Snivy, Scorbunny, Piplup

I've been looking forward to this video since the reveal! Personally hoping for one of the sprigatito lines even though using gen9 is probably pretty unlikely, but they like to do the unexpected I was also thinking that the starters could get megas instead of a regional final form or they could give 2 sets of starters like in xy

My fav trio ideas for Legends games are Chespin,Chimchar,Mudkip Grookey,Torchic,Froakie Snivy,Scorbunny,Piplup Turtwig,Litten,Totodile Feel like trios are interesting combinations

My starter predicitions: Snivy or Chikorita (Snivy because it has so many huge connections to france, and Chikorita because Meganium has so much room to be a cool mega) Tepig because there are so many farms and Tepig genuinely looks like a farm animal and due to the agricultural problems right now in France it would make sense. Piplup because Empoleon legit has Napoleon in it's name or Sobble because Inteleon literally looks French too. Their new final evo typings: Meganium: Grass/Dragon Tepig: Fire/Steel Inteleon: Water/Electric

I like that last combination of Sprigatito, Tepig, and Totodile a lot. Totodile is my favorite and I would love to see them make another variant of Feraligatr, whether that be a new regional variant or a mega. I could totally see them making a slower, more bulky Feraligatr variant that has a prehistoric look to it and being Water/Rock type.

It seems everyone is on board with Piplup and Snivy, but instead of Scorbunny I say Litten. It just seems too soon to mess with the Galar starters, Sword and Shield debuted on the Switch where megas essentially died. Whereas Alola (Litten) was the last game to have mega evolution on the last gen console. Its definitely between Scorbunny and Litten, but it just seems too early for Scorbunny.

Very unrelated however I think that if there is ever a Brazil region, Quaxly will be a wild pokemon there because as you mentioned in its scarlet Pokédex it says it came from a far away land and it’s evolution and design and even its name is Brazilian inspired, Brazil was colonized by Portugal which is on the Iberian peninsula which is the real world equivalent of Paldea, also Brazil is basically a line with no obstacles to Portugal

I definitely feel like our Legends Z-A starters are likely to be Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup. In the Indigo Disk promotion trailer introducing the return of all starters, the trailer was LED OFF with showing the Legends Arceus trio paired up with 3 other starters of the same type: Cyndaquil with Torchic, Oshawott with Piplup, and Rowlet with Snivy. They wanted us to pay attention to those pairs before ANYTHING else in the trailer by leading off with footage of them together in those pairs. We don't even see those starters paired with any others for the rest of the trailer! This screams "this is a hint!" in my opinion. Showing them off in those pairs specifically would also make us create natural parallels between each pair of starters as well, which is another massive hint towards the new Legends trio. Plus, Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup all have strong ties to Kalos (i.e. France) thanks to real world parallels, so they fit perfectly as Kalosean starters (watch video for details about that). If this is the case, they are most likely getting regional forms, as Blaziken can Mega Evolve already, and while having the other starters receive Megas does sound cool, it kinda leaves Blaziken in the dust in comparison to the others getting brand new Megas. If they all get regional forms, it gives them all a new chance to shine. It's very possible for Blaziken to get a new regional form despite having a Mega variant, since Slowbro has already done this year's ago! My guess is that while Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup get new regional forms, the O.G. Kalos starters will get new Mega Evolutions instead. It seems more fitting, considering they were robbed their chances of getting one in their debut generation (excluding Ash-Greninja I suppose). Of course, GameFreak folks will do what they want, but I believe this will most likely be how things shake out.

In a trailer for the indigo disc, each of the three starters from Legends Arceus are shown with another starter of their type. And those three would make perfect sense for this game: Torchic, Piplup, Snivy

My thoughts for starters were Snivy(based on EU royalty, in particular French royalty) Piplup(Napoleon/Empoleon) and Scorbunny(Galar is fairly close by) though I have heard reasoning for Torchic as the fire starter(Rooster is the French national bird)

Hey ttar, love the back to back videos. Have you noticed on the dash on Pokémon Legends Z-A there is a tiny hint of blue and red.. probably for Xerneas and Yveltal. They definitely got a role to this game.

It's not my Idea but I think Snivy, Piplup and Scorbunny are making more sense to be the Legends ZA Starters. For Grass is Snivy because of the western inspiration for Serperior, Water is Piplup because Empoleon got the inspiration from Napoleon a French leader and Fire is Scorbunny because the first ever soccer team was founded by English men in France.

For the next legends game, after legends, z-a is gonna be Squirtle Treecko Fennekin because Squirtle Treecko final evolutions don’t have a secondary type and Fennekin can be finally fairy type

Snivy, it's based on Western culture specifically French aristocricy, it has the fleur-de-lis on it too. The symbol of France/French Royalty. Empoleon, it's literally penguin-napoleon with the trident, a symbol associated with some french cities, and a high-collar. Scorbunny, French soccer leagues/sports I'm less certain about scorbunny but piplup and snivy are basically confirmed.

Here's my thing: I am extremely excited to see Megas returning and see new ones for this game. What I don't want is for us to have our partner pokemon be from Gen 1 and 3. They have Megas, scrap them; we find them in the wild. I believe that Chimchar, Chikorita, and either Sobble or Quaxly will be three. Or Turtwig, Tepig, and Totodile. I'm trying to avoid the regions that got picked.

8:41 is that texture on Mewscarada always been there? May be a stretch but the leaf blades on the back look like the A shape and the texture looks similar to it.

The one that makes the most sense to me involves Chikorita evolving into a Grass/Fairy. It would make sense since Kalos is where we were introduced to Fairy. And for khu's hint with the 4 regions it could be referencing the following; Charmander for Kanto (Z mega), Chikorita for Johto, Tepig for Unova, and Quaxly for Paldea.

Gen 6 will be unlocked in post game and have mega Evo. Just like gen 7 and 8 had their own version of the gimmick (z-move and dynamax) Piplup, Snivy and Scorbunny will have Lumiosian/Kalosian form, because they are all related to France: Empoleon-Napoleon, Serperior-European royalty, Scorbunny-Soccer is very in in France.

Others are predicting Snivy, Scorbunny, and Piplup because of their origins and stuff. I think it almost has to be them. Either that or the Kalos starters will simply be getting megas.

Our best setup for the new game is most likely Litten, Snivy and Tododile. Snivy has a lot of connections to France especially in its final form, Litten final form can have more artistic cat vibe and Todile can be a reference to gators in the sewer they did find a crocodile living in Paris sewers in the 80s so do with that as you may.

I think my favourite idea I’ve seen is to have two sets of starters, like the original XY games. First they give you the choice of Snivy, Piplup & Scorbunny, then a second choice of Chespin, Froakie & Fennekin. They’ll either give Mega evolutions to both sets, or return to the Battle Bond phenomenon for the Kalos starters and just give the new starters Mega’s.

it could make sense that they would maybe do regional variants for the not very popular starters but i could also see them making regional variants for the most popular ones. I think in Pokémon company fashion the starters will be Charmander (becuase people will eat up not only a regional variant but also i could see a mega Charizard z), Greninja , and grass will be either treecko turtwig or snivy. personally i believe it will be charmander, greninja, turtwig.

Charmander being one with a different evolution and that one gets a new mega being charizard Z makes a lot of sense.

I think best option for what I think the story will be includes: Turtwig, Tepig, and Sobble. But I would like it best if it were Snivy, Scorbunny, Piplup

I posted this under another video, but follow the patterns from hisui: Gen leg: 4. 6 Fire -2. 2. 4 Water +1. 5. 7 Grass+3. 7. 9 Looking at those options give us infernape, premarina, and meowscarada. All 3 of these work as perfect circus pokemon. given that the game isn't leaving the city, these pokemon don't adapt for the wild, they adapt for their jobs. Infernape the acrobat premarina the dancing seal And meoscarada the jester. Having a Gypsy circus also opens up an explanation why these starters are from so far away and ties into Frances cultural identity post Renaissance pre 100yr war.

Chikorita - Tepig - Popplio Snivy - Litten - Totodile Legends: Arceus started giving Gen II, V and VII starters regional variants, I think we should finish the job before moving to the other starters. Also, the Kalos and Kanto starters will likely just be available in the wild (because the original games' starters were wild Pokémon in Hisui and the Kalos games had two trios to pick from) and the Galar starters will not be given new forms within the same generation, that's crazy. Hoenn (and again Kanto) starters might be available because of Mega Evolutions, but for the same reason, they'd have to bring them all, meaning NOT as the mixed starter selection.

My favorite starters of each type happen to be the starters from legends arceus, I still remember being completely flabbergasted watching the starter reveal

I am certain the pokemon chosen to represent the Fire starter will be Scorbunny. All the other Fire starters have something that makes me think pokemon company would not use them. For the Water and Grass starters I am between Popplio, Piplup or Totodile and Snivy, Turtwig and Chikorita. From those I think Piplup and Snivy are the ones with the most connections to frech culture (being representations of Napoleon and Fleur-de-lis respectively). So my bet is: Snivy, Scorbunny and Piplup.

I’m hoping for snivy, chimchar and popplio. Snivy fits kalos SOO much it’s insane because of the French stuff with it. Chimchar is here because…uhhh I don’t have reason infernape is cool ok xD. Popplio and it’s evolution line makes shows with its bubbles like contests so the popplio line could be what invented contests back in the day in this game.

I would take out Gen 1 early because they were also in Gen 6 games. I would take out any pokemon that have mega's already as well. as long as Piplup gets something, what Im thnking is, the original gen 6 starters will get mega's and the new starters will get their new regional form. im putting my money on Piplup Snivy and either Litten or Scorbunny

Much as the Hisui starters had some connection to the region they were based on (Ezo/Hokkaido), it's extremely likely that the Z-A starters will have ties to the region Kalos is based on (in this case, France). The ones I've seen speculated to be the most likely choices are Snivy (as it's based on French nobility), Piplup (considering its final evolution, Empoleon, is based on Napoleon Bonaparte), and either Torchic (tying in with France's national symbol, the Gallic Rooster) or Scorbunny (due to its ties of being a soccer player). I personally do not think the Paldean starters will be included, considering Legends Arceus did not include the Galarian starters.

I like some of these ideas, cool video. ... except for the fact that we basically know the starters for two reasons: - In the trailer for SV DLC 2, when they showed the starters in the dome, the 4 first clips were three duos of the starters of hisui with torchick, piplup, and snivy (including a clip of torchick and cyndaquil, which do not spawn close to each other), and the fourth clip was a gen 6 starter. the rest was more randomly ordered - these starters are the ones making the most thematic sense, as hisuian starters were basically fighters with the samurai, the archer and whatever was typhlosion supposed to be, here we would get torchick the french rooster, Empoleon based on napoleon, and snivy the fleur-de-lys, aka the symbol of french royalty. So yes, since mega is back and blaziken has a mega, that both means empoleon and snivy will get megas AND if the starters get kalosian forms, we'll most likely get Kalosian Foms Mega for all three starters too most likely (if this is true, of course). But if empoleon and serperior both get mega evolutions... why not Torterra, Infernape, Emboar and Samuroth too? Maybe these four will get one in the next mainline game after that, probably gen 10. Two Empoleon Megas... damn what a time to be alive! they might have done us dirty with BDSP but at least we get some form of beginning of redemtion here. I wish we got Megas in BDSP with 3 new megas for the starters, though. that would also have made getting no less than 9 new megas just for starters more believable, because then it would "only" have been 6. Another solution regarding megas is using this Mega X and Y mechanic to have let's say Empoleon have a Mega X, and Kalosian form have a Mega Z, but that would skip Y, so it would be weird, and that wouldn't really make much sense, as they would be two different pokémons in the first place, so they'd both have only one mega form and wouldn't need letters anyway... it would only sound good on paper I think.
