What starter pokemon do you think we will see in Pokemon legends Z-A?

almost hoping they just keep the original Kalos trio. they got the short end of the stick in their own era, not only by not getting megas but by having the nostalgia-bait Kanto starters being given to you so early with brand new mega forms lol

Switch Turtwig for Snivy. I just don’t think they’ll go back to Gen 4 since we just went there. Turtwig is in both Arceus and BDSP.

Popplio could be like Cirque de Soleil as a Mega.

I believe that the Kalos starters will be given to us later on in Legends Z-A similar to how the Kanto starters were given to us in X and Y later on in our journey

Battle bond for the other two Kalos starters is a option. Of the nine at the end, I could see Litten, Grookey and Totodile.

I doubt we'll get Pokemon Black and White remakes anytime soon. I don't know why, but people don't like the 5th gen games. If we do get remakes, I hope they do more with them than they did with the Diamond and Remakes.

Could be cool to have the same starters but with maybe different forms of ALL their evolution stages !

idk why but I feel like maybe if they were not in the gen or got a lot of attention that it makes sense for them to be a starter. Like making it charzard, mudkip, and grookie.

Absolutely love the story about the baby crocodile that was found in the sewers. If your final selection is what we'll get, I'll have such a hard time choosing.

Totadile seems very likely but I'm thinking the grass type will be Grookey and Tepig as the fire type

sobble is a chameleon pokemon line, you can look at the hand grip which is chameleon, the curly tail is chameleon and the whole idea of turning invisible and being a spy. It is not a frog, that is the froakey line where you see the obvious differences. Just had to say this haha, can't help myself.

Great video! You’re sleeping on Popplio though. France is the birthplace of the largest circus company in the world, Cirque du Soleil. Just saying that’s a pretty easy connection that’s much less of a stretch than the Totodile sewer thing, still that’s hilarious!

For myself I could see Litten, Chikorita, and Sobble being the starters. Honestly I hope that Delphox and Chesnaught both get Battle Bond Forms like Greninja did and they rework Battle Bond so it's breedable. I mean just do like they did with Rockruff and let them have Own Tempo for their ability till they evolve to their final form. And make it so Battle Bond changes how their signature moves of Mystical Fire and Spiky Shield work like how it did for Water Shuriken prior to Gen 9. On that note also we should get a Dawn Form Lycanroc but that won't probably happen unless we get an Alola based Legends or future Gen.

Kinda Random chooses that I would love would be squirtle(final evo to do a play on marine biology referencing greats like Frances Jacques Cousteau), litten(final evo have on all four and be more black in a reference to "the black cat" by very famous french artist Toulouse-Lautrec), and finally chicoreta (the national fruit is the pear in france and chicorita is based on one. Maybe have it turn into a fruit tree instead of a flower? Or still keep it a flower as botany is very important in France culturally for the beauty and fragrance.). I feel these are not obvious but could be spun to be more french like they did with legends arceus starters.

I see your points but hard disagree. I'm of the mind that it'll be Torchic, Piplup and Snivy because they are all a good fit for the region. PLA is our only means of comparison, but PC decided to go with very obvious starters for that region. Samurott, Typhlosion (which is from a Japanese-based region), and as for Decidueye... an archer is a very fitting pick for Hisui... So I don't feel it being obvious discounts them as options. I also don't believe the starters necessarily will get Megas. Like PLA, I'm assuming they will get alternate forms and then later on (as a nod to the original X/Y games) you get the option to either pick a Kalos starter (who are the ones who get the megas FINALLY) or find them in the wild like you could find the Sinnoh starters in Hisui

i frequently see people freaking out about a potential mega incineroar destroying competitive, but personally, i dont see it. incineroar is mainly a support pokemon, and you generally want you big hitters to mega evolve, not support mons. plus, not being able to hold an item would suck for incin, since it relies on berries to heal, assault vest to soak up special hits, or safety goggles to stop amoonguss would be devastating for it, since a small increase to its stats is not a worthwile tradeoff.

I agree with you that some of these are too obvious. Like how does Empoleon get a regional redesign that is more French inspired than it already is? Same for Serperior. So if we get regional variants, some less obvious candidates work better for getting redesigns.

although i think it's not gonna happen i would go crazy on mudkip chimchar and grookey

If they Bring Mega evolutions it would be nice to bring a starter for each gen that will represent which set of starter will get a Mega Evolution.

As much as i would love a mega or regional form of Feraligatr, I just don't see them picking a gen two starter since we got a reginal form for Typhlosion. Though if they do pick my boy Totodile I'll be ecstatic.

Your reliance on the Indigo Disk trailer is misplaced. That's a red herring that has nothing to do with whether or not a starter would be appropriate for Legends Z-A, and calling the more obvious choices for starters as red herrings themselves is overthinking on your part. The trio that we got for Legends Arceus was based upon 3 Pokemon that, while not native to Sinnoh/Hisui, and their real world counterpart region in Japan (Hokkaido), still had ties to Japanese culture: Samurott (a literal samurai), Decidueye (archery being just as much of a samurai's arsenal as their sword, and made even more Japanese by making it into a Ronin), and Typhlosion (already a Japanese inspired Pokemon, remade to resemble on Kamuy-huci). Applying the same principle of Pokemon that are not native to Kalos, but could still be related to French culture, you get Serperior (drawing heavy inspiration from Western Europe's influence on Unova/America and having the French fleur-de-lis on its body), Empoleon (inspired by Napoleon) and Cinderace (soccer was introduced to France by British ex-pats living in Paris around the same time that the Paris urban redevelopment project was taking place).

We got 2 starters in the original - I wonder if the same will happen again - first will be a mix, 2nd will be gen 6 - seems mean that we have 2 gen 6 games and no megas of the starters

I bet that we'll get access to two sets of starters, just like in the original XY and in PLA. The first set will be the one given to us at the start of our adventure and it'll be Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup (for the reasons already explained in the video). These starters will have a new regional form for their final evolutions. The second set of starters will be the og from XY, which will get mega evolutions. Yeah, these are predictable choices, but they're also the ones that make the most sense and that I personally hope to see come true.

I was thinking. What if they do no starters at all, and do something like LGPE, but with Zygarde. Either a 1% (Core Form) version or the 10% one, for walking around the city with a doggo. It's not like Legends is as tied to being a "three starters, Water/Fire/Grass" as the main series...

i dont understand your fear of mega incineroar just bec. ursaluna is in SV metagame. Ursaluna is a regional evolution. if mega doesnt make a comeback on the gen 10 games, then theres really no reason to discount or even wish for litten to not be a starter. 😂

Many folks seem to be looking for ties to France for the starts - but in PLA the starters had nothing to do with Sinnoh/Japan other than Samurott being a samurai - but then with the alt forms they brought that connection to them. I think it's still a complete crapshoot at this time, but i would be very surprised if Scorbunny doesn't get in - it feels like the most loved and easiest Starter to put in regardless of connections

After you pointed out the references with Torchic, Piplup and Snivy i thought maybe they were close to the Legends Arceus starters to hint at the new Game being a Legends in the Kalos Region.

I like your reasoning Lee but i gotta ask, why are obvious choices not a possibility? If anything, obvious choices would ground some starters in a more appropriate region. Serperior's design makes no sense in a USA inspired region, same for empoleon in a Japan region. I guess I'll go against the current and say we'll see Serperior / Empoleon / Scorbunny

Another great video. I think the starter situation will mimic 2 sets we choose from in Gen 6. The first set will be a mix from previous generations that have regional variant evolutions but no mega evolution. The second set will be the modern Kalos starters and they get mega evolutions (maybe they even retcon battle bond Greninja into a mega). I would love to see a: Regional Infernape as a musketeer Regional Intelleon as an Arsène Lupin character Regional Meganium with an iris

I believe the Kalos trio will be obtainable as wild Pokémon like the Sinnoh starters in Arceus. I predict they'll get Megas too. As for the starter trio to choose, the general sentiment for the Grass-type is Snivy and I think the same. The Water one, I got 3 candidates in Totodile, Sobble and Piplup, with the third being my least favorite here. As for the Fire starter... oh boy Charizard-Z will trigger so many people (myself included)

It is highly likely that we will get Snivy Scorbunny and Piplup, as they are all very French inspired, at least for Piplup and Snivy, Scorbunny is my pick as the Fire starter due to France being very big on Soccer and Football Give Mega Feraligatr the dragon typing and the Strong Jaw ability. Dont even joke about ILCA 😭 Im sticking with tge timetravel theory of mine, we'll have tge original Kalos starters but we'll jump back in time early in the game, they'll evolve into a different 3rd stage because of the alternate environment or we'll do something in the past that causes the games present to have different final evos or get megas,..you kno because this gens theme, paradoxes. Also, with the sinnoh starters being unchanged in the past in Hisui, i doubt it would be in a different region unless its a REGIONAL varient

Its so strange that the Kalos starters did not get Mega Evolution in the original X/Y. I think that was a huge missed opportunity to make the trio more memorable, cause being honest, only Greninja was the memorable , Mainly because they gave it an Alternate Form and added it into Smash Bros. In recent years Pokémon took routes that I have never expected. S/V and Legends Arceus being great examples of surprisingly more ambitious and in-depth games for a series that is known for its familiarity. Expect the unexpected I guess 😅 Also ... I want to get a shiny Mega Absol to use it in Legends Z-A. Absol is not my favorite Pkmn but its shiny is one of my favorites in all of the franchise. Gotta love that sweet pink color with those green eyes 🤌
