My dia sister, thanks for sharing 👍 I am so sorry for all you went through. 💔 that's Africa for you. Thank God you are settled. Welcome to my country, Uganda . I just subscribed. I pray to meet you one day I am in Uganda. My advice to all trying to Africa. Please first go visit, get to know the community first before you move. Be careful because scams are everywhere, even worse in Europe 🇪🇺.

I live in Boston and we have been scammed not only by a lawyer, and financial lenders and contractors. As I type this, I am looking for painters but most of them want cash upfront, at least 50%! We have lost a lot $$ to contractors, especially those who come claiming to be Christians. We even lost $1500 to two members of our church. We refinanced our house and need to do some interior painting but we can't afford to lose it to scammed. The point is as long as we are dealing with human beings, we are going to run into scammers. This is an opportunity for "KEGANDA" to come up with a reference list of reputable professionals who can be held to account. Good luck to you and keep the faith.

Just watched you on kenganda and just loved your attitude. I travel to Uganda every year. One thing you have to understand is that every country offers challenges...In Germany for example ,the paper work though fast its crazy and once you qualify for taxes the govt takes unto 45%....Then about Kenya things are a little bit faster, people are more aggressive too but I think less opportunity for business empire growth ,Uganda still lacks /so many inefficiencies like you mentioned , ...customer-care kills me most and then you got Indians who are ...like terrible . Since you are in the meat industry ,I would suggest also bio labelled meat as I never see any labels in supermarkets....alot of marketing and expose ofcourse ..Good luck.

Thank you for sharing your story. It looks like a tedious process, but as they say, anything worth having is worth working towards. If we were to remain stagnant and try to open a business here in the states, it would still be an uphill process because if you don’t have the capital/credit necessary, it can sometimes not be feasible. I salute you & your family and pray that TMH will continue to order your steps as you look to Him for provision. Shalom! ❤

Discovered you from Kenganda. My family is from Uganda, i live in North America but intend to visit Uganda more often. I really wish you and your family the very best in Uganda. Business environment there is quite slow but presents a lot of opportunity. Just make sure to take your time, and vet everyone. People aren't as honest, and trustworthy as they may present to be. There are however many good people. Exercise patience, and don't always be quick to write any cheques.
@AfricaEverAfter

@@AfricaEverAfter The systems and controls in a lot of places in Uganda are inefficient or non-extistent for the most part so you are exposed to a lot of human ingenuity and dishonesty, otherwise people are hishonest everywhere in the world (including the States). What makes the world that you and me different, is that systems and controls are effective. Now there is where your opportunities in a country like Uganda lie. Provide a better service, get your staff and customers to see things differently......and you will surely succeed. I WISH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY THE VERY BEST, YOU ARE GREAT PEOPLE !!

Lol, laughing with you. The same happened to me. Sometimes they just want you to "appreciate" them to get your business name. I refused to participate in corruption and pushed on. I have a really good friend here who is a lawyer, she owns a bakery and a hardware store, and is a law lecturer at the University. She is a genuine friend and my go to with any legalities, but get her quick if interested she keeps singing to me about being tired of Uganda and its ways and wanting to go to South Africa for her Doctorate ..

How much do you need to pay for the permit and, what is the estimated amount needed to open the bank account?
@AfricaEverAfter
@AfricaEverAfter 9 месяцев назад
You can start an account with as little as $5 USD. However I will say that we were told if your business has less than 40 million shillings which is roughly $10,000 in the account you make an audited more often as a government may see your business as illegitimate. Permit cost vary
