Great idea! You're the second person I've seen who came up with the idea of remodeling a trailer and making it into an Airbnb. Once you get it striped, have someone thoroughly hose it down on the outside while you inspect it on the inside for any potential leaks. Save you a HUGE headache to waterproof everything before putting in a new interior.
This is awesome! Hot tubs are always a great edition. My partner and I stayed at a cute cabin in the woods and the hot tub was used every evening and morning.
An outside kitchen (grill) area. So they can cook inside or out. Make it so they can rent all year. You got your summer campers and your snow birds. Can never go wrong with a fire pit with chairs.
I’m a born and raised Michigander, who left for over a decade then came back. For the lakes!!! Must have : fire pit, outdoor grill for charcoal, picnic table, maybe marshmallow and fire pokers. List of local amenities, restaurants, and lakes for anyone not familiar with the area. Maybe a hammock ? Clothes line to hang the bathing suits. It’s going to be awesome it sounds like a place I’d totally bring my family to stay!!! Oh also, online booking with available dates is always nice. Maybe keep it a tad rustic? Like no tv maybe. 😍🥰👏👏👏
1.) Hot tub 2.) Ice cold plunge via deep freezer converted into the permanent ice bath. 3.) Fire pit with logs for an extra fee. 4.) Hammocks are ALWAYS a must! 5.) You can’t go wrong with your cornhole idea. 6.) If you’re REALLY wantin’ to step up your game then having a sauna’d be a phenomenal addition that would further enhance the campers’ experience.
This is such a tiny detail but please install hooks next to the shower. It's frustrating to stay somewhere and there's no place to hang a clean towel or clothing to dress after showering. Looking fwd to seeing the progress on this.
We are doing the same thing! Not an airstream but shed to tiny house conversion. I think you have all the right ideas! Thinking what would make this stay special and a cool, different experience for the guests is the way to go!
Get a few books or find Y tube channels on upkeep and systems in a RV. Folks that don’t understand holding tanks, propane, system panels can cause expensive repairs . Outdoor furniture and picnic table are a must, fire pit a safe distance from the RV is expected. Provide bed, bath. Kitchen linens, along with basic kitchen equipment. Check out some local campgrounds to see set ups you like. Have fun and good luck!! Camping is the new vacation thing
Hey man I’m about to do the same exact thing! I grew up staying in an airstream just like this one for hunting trips. We used to shoot cans off of stumps outside. In lieu of guns maybe consider cornhole or bottle bash. Something to get your guests outside and enjoying that space. Best of luck dude! I’ll be watching.
Love it! I so want to do this on the corner of our property. We live on a river about 35 minutes out from the cities. Seeing all these Reno's on insta definitely make it seem fun! Definitely agree with your thoughts about some fun little outdoor lighting connected to trees from the camper, potentially a charcoal grill (nothing can really break or run out of propane that way), a bonfire ring, indoor/outdoor mat, some folding chairs, cornhole, fans and extension cords for outdoor use, maybe an outdoor solar powered shower?! Curious to hear how you're going to handle the water and bathroom situation. Will you have someone local tow it to empty or maybe there is a service that can come pump the airstream and fill up water reserves?? Thanks for sharing!!
Great ideas! Especially about going charcoal instead of propane. So we will have a water well and electricity on the land. As far as bathroom pump situation, I'm sure we'll have someone empty it. More on that later!
I've been renting my duplex in the mountains of NC on VRBO for about 15 years. I ONLY rent to adults over 25. I ONLY rent to one's or two's. My place could sleep 4 or more...but, I learned the hard way. I tried Airbnb. Worst experience ever!! They do not vet anyone and you have no control over who is allowed to stay on your property. I am blessed to have regulars now that have proven to be great renters over the years. Proceed with caution. Read the fine print and pray!!! Also be blessed.
@@gojereme yes, I did both for a short time. VRBO got bought by Expedia and changed a lot but in my experience, they are the better of the two. Can't wait to follow along. There is a channel "Becoming Bev". She bought a campground and has unique renting venues including an Airstream! Check her out.
Ideas- Maybe a hot tub outside!!! A grill!!! Fire pit for making smores!!! Also, a projector so families can do movie nights outside of the camper using the camper as a screen maybe or finding a simple solution. Hope these help!!! =)
Interesting, I’m up to seven travel trailers and tiny homes. Looking to buy another one with my long-term goal of having 100 rental units that are combination of tiny homes travel trailers and apartments.
A covered patio or deck would be all we would need... read a book/kindle or watch youtube outside, have a bonfire in the evening (not under the covering) and watch the stars...
In the woods? I would absolutely love a treehouse structure of some kind nearby. That kind of thing just excites my inner child. It could even be just a very simple platform with a ladder and some guardrails. Or as extravagant as some kind of zipline setup. Also, hammocks. Find some ideal hammock locations and have them either set up or available to set up. Probably not the most practical thing during the winter season however.
I'd wanna explore, check out a garden, hear water, sit on a patio and take it in. A playground for the kids. Ping pong table. A companion cabin or two or three nearby
A bon fire for sureeee is a must!! And the chairs to sit around it. If it’s in a secluded area it will be awesome for star gazing so maybe a telescope. Lights for sure. Maybe a volleyball net for some day time activity if they don’t feel like going out. A list of places you would recommend. Coffee maker is a must!! Oh and is it dog friendly? Lots of ppl like to take their pets.Very excited for u guys, this will be good 👍
Hey Jamie and Sarah! Wife and I would love to meet you guys. We watched all your airstream videos! We enjoy visiting the Grand Rapids area, we especially love the little town of Holland.
Hello, I’m glad I found your channel. I look forward to the outcome of this new adventure I to as well am starting a business an have no told my best friend at this time. Not sure what she would think about it. Anyway I would rent the Airbnb around waterfront lots of trees located somewhat close to small shops, nice trails for bike rides and hiking. Sometimes you just need to get away and be around nature. God bless your new adventure. Subscribed.
Great vid & project...those airstreamers are so expensive but very neat, you definitely give me things to think about. I'm also curious on how it's been living in Michigan? It has a bad rap/rep.
Thanks Judith! No equipment upgrade, just switched up the editing for this series. Normally, I'm just talking in front the camera at home, so there is no need for any fancy edits.
Thanks Chris! Starting shooting video/photo for weddings and brands few years back. Really just self taught with the help of RU-vid. It has involved to creating social media video ads to help construction/home improvement businesses get more qualified leads and customers. It took me about 6 hours to edit this type of video because there was a lot more moving pieces rather than just sitting in front of the camera. But editing gets easier once you know how you want the story to flow.
It failed. Airbnb is now overpriced, oversaturated, there is high inflation and a recession, stimulus money dried up and the post covid travel frenzy is gone and flying anywhere is a nightmare.
