Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was City Skylines 1, I think (hope?) that once the modders and asset creators catch up City Skylines 2 will be just as good, and the new mechanics will make it even better
I didn’t expect you to pick up C:S2 so soon. Your mental fortitude is impressive, because I just can’t even be bothered to. Every quality build in this game seems to be in spite of it, not enabled by it. Anhedonia makes a fitting comeback.
I'm so glad your back at CS. I love your commentary, the jazz music background and your "realistic" cities. It's just relaxing to watch your videos. Greetings from Switzerland!
Great to see you back in the game, Neptune city and Scylla republic were some of the greatest CS series of all times can’t wait to see what you do next
You can actually already use some (pretty good) mods in CS2 when you use the thunder mod store! Like ‘Line Tool Lite’, ‘Anarchy’, ‘Extended Road Upgrades’ and ‘Traffic Lights Enhancement’ among others.
Easily the most disappointing release of the last year. They somehow torpedoed what should've been a slam dunk and also interest in their existing game. This was probably the laziest sequel I've ever seen - genuinely the only improvement is the road system, while everything else has stayed the same or taken a step back.,
I’ve been enjoying cs2 but can’t wait for expansions and workshop assets and maps. It feels like so much was stripped away which I expected of the base game. What frustrates me is that a couple of elements that I wasn’t thrilled about in sim city were added. Like adding to buildings requires you to awkwardly attach them.
As for this hedges changing color in the fall, I looked it up on google and there are nurseries in Europe that sell hedges made from plants in the Beech, Dogwood and Maple families that do change colors in the fall. As for the trees, I’m fairly sure there is a CS2 mod that allows you to place fully grown trees.
7:54 you can click and drag upgrades to a length of connected segments for long stretches of road. This works for the relocation tool as well. 8:51 that's probably an education issue / lack of labor issue. It will tank your plant's efficiency down to zero. 16:25 I was gonna point out that CO's going for a modern look but nowadays hospitals are just giant window panels. I see your point; having some grim or age to "date" the hospital building as a project from the 70's - 90's would help ALOT 20:34 the line tool Love the video, love the city name and vibes! It's terribly good.
Holy Carp (late christmas joke!), was not expecting that! Thank you brother, thank you! edit: Omg, your explanation for the city fits so well with how I see all of America (USA) tbh
The vanilla hospital actually looks pretty realistic. If you take an aerial view of the McGill University Health Care Center (the Glen) of Montreal...it is BRIGHT WHITE lool.
There are a few guys on RU-vid that really push the limits with the stock game. Those cities are pretty good for no mods and etc. but since your not a vanilla player you’ll have trouble not being able to do whatever you want without mods
Honestly I have been quite enjoying Cities 2, I've found that playing with dev mode and using the props and surfaces in the asset list there has been enough to satisfy my detailing itch until modders can properly come onto the scene. My biggest dissapointment however is that they stuck with zoning grids, they are so limiting and an absolute pain to work with if you wonna make anything but the most boring road layout. They never bothered me too much in CS1 because i always placed all my buildings manually with find it and plopabble RICO, but the lack of being able to do that in CS2 is really starting to get on my nerves. Especially so because it just feels lazy that they didn't innovate on the zoning system, especially when you have Indie Games like Manor Lords with an absolutely amazing procedural generation system for filling in those oddly shaped spaces. Expected better from CO with regards to that
While there isn't of course official modding in the game at the moment. You should maybe think about using the Thunderstore modding platform with no steam workshop or in-game platform running, which currently appears to be the platform of choice. Some of the stuff you are asking for like the ability to create queys on demand using the road tools have already been modded into the game. There is also an Anarchy mod for detailing already released. Now I'm sure that once the official mod platform launch they will be transferred over but for now, you can find what you are looking for on that modding platform.
as you said i hope the modding community can be unleashed i have 50 ish hours in cs2 and I am already getting bored of the lack of freedom. im also worried that the modding will be worse than cs1 cause the fps in standard 50k plus cities can get low
Allow me some positive criticism: love your builds and your videos, but this one was quite full of you complaining about the game and everything you don't like about it. Honestly I enjoyed a lot more the more joyful you playing Foundation. Anyway, looking forward seeing you play some more!
I haven’t bought the game and I have no plans to for the foreseeable future. I play on both pc and console (mostly console though) and vanilla cs1 is low key better than vanilla cs2. I’m sure it’ll get better with time but at the moment I’m not willing to pay $50 for such an unfinished game
Why didn't you use mods for this build? There are already dozens of community mods released for the game, but all I can hear in your comment is "there's no modding, there's no modding" and complaints about missing features currently existing mods have already put into the game.
