I'm not a fan of streaking for myself, but I say if you stay healthy and you like it, go for it! I'm happiest when I can run 5 days a week, sometimes 6, but always take one non-running day a week. One episode a week is fabulous! Already excited for next week and to see if you sign up for the 60K!

I have a 5 mile streak that will hit 3 years in a couple of weeks. It has made me a way stronger runner and is very useful for periods of low motivation. Once the motivation comes back, it only takes 1 workout, and most of the fitness is back.

On day 4844 today, I view my streak as a 13+ year ultramarathon, that will continue tomorrow, it is my daily backyard race. If you are going to streak two tips 1) Wear different shoes everyday 2) Run first thing in the morning early before anyone else misses you and you get it done before you tackle your day

Go get it Jamil!! I'm currently on a streak of 500+ days myself. I think my primary motivation is that while life has been busy, I really want to get back to the fitness I was at a few years ago. Haven't done it yet. But the streak has kept my momentum going enough that I never really get out of shape.

I don't recommend streaking (coming for a casual runner currently). I feel that while it can be motivating it eventually becomes more about "the streak". If you're going to do a streak I'd recommend setting a defined time limit or train for something specifically. I did a streak of just "get out every day" for several years and for me a lot of times running just started to feel like a chore.

I love it when you post one of these videos, Jamil. It’s like coming on a run with you and seeing that beautiful scenery. Thank you! Interesting you are doing mileage based training as I was switched by a coach from mileage/pace to effort/time as I was getting injured too frequently. He said 1 mile in the winter with a headwind and muddy conditions takes so much more out of your body that 1 mile on a summers day on hard trails, hence I would break myself. Since switching in 2015 I’ve not had 1 running injury. Consequently I also don’t do run streaks as for me my body works with a break during the week and so far so good so why change eh? ❤ All the best from Dartmoor in 🇬🇧 😊

Not a fan of run streaking myself, I do believe there is a point of diminishing returns and once the streak is broken, it seems like some loose a ton of drive to stay steady. I do think it has it’s place though for maybe a few weeks at a time depending on where in the training block. I personally always feel so much more rejuvenated after a down day or a non run day and lift weights instead.

Love having you back Jamil! It’s been really humbling following you fighting to get back at a consistent routine again. I was at this same place in September, it does pass! I’m definitely not streaking, i do as many days per week as i can from a time and body readiness perspective. Certainly can appreciate the motivation to get out there with streaking though. For me, consistency in general is most impactful. If i miss a day or 2 here and there, no big.

I've tried to participate in the RW run streak in the past. And I always, always overdid it. Never made it more than, like, 10 days. Summer 2022 I completed a 33 day streak by being kind to myself. ONE MILE per day. That's it. Most of them were done at 10:00 p.m. It was still hot, but at least there was no UV to deal with. I definitely am glad I did it. And once I recovery from surgery and complete a C25k I will probably do another 30 day streak. Thanks, Jamil, for your awesome progress updates!

I did a 1,153 day streak once. Ended up disliking it due to the lack of flexibility but it was hard to stop. It had become part of my identity. In 2013, my New Year’s resolution was to STOP running and it took me until February to actually not run for a whole day.

Jamil, the Philmont 50 is a great race, I ran it last year and it was great to be back for the first time since 1996. It was like stepping into a time capsule, most of the 50 mile route followed much of the trek route I was on in ‘96, it all seemed like I was just there. It was great to know that I basically could cover the distance in one day that took us a week + on the trek. Glad to see you putting content out again, I also have been on a running hiatus since mid-holiday season last fall/winter, I have only been doing vert work(a yearly goal of 1M’ for the year) I am very intrigued by the Cocodona 125 mile option, the 75 hour cutoff is pretty appealing.

Hey there! First and foremost, congrats on getting back at it! I'm a huge fan of streak running but in a much more flexible sense I suppose. Essentially the way I look at it - I should run every day no matter how short or how slow the run is. For example I got Covid at some point and I decided to just run in place at my apartment for just 10 minutes, then 20 minutes, then got out and was walking but still considered it a run. It became sort of like brushing my teeth everyday, I never ask myself if I want to, I just know that I should and if I feel awful, I still put on clothes and get out there to walk & run. In the end of the day everybody can have 10 minutes to run 1km a day right? Having said that now I'm at a consistent 56-60km a week (5 miles a day) but before was doing like a mile or 2 on a weekday and much more during weekend. Figured out 80/20 rule didn't really work for me and consistent mileage felt so much better. Good luck man!
@taylorlayton4508
@taylorlayton4508 Год назад
I got to about 80 days once, maybe I hit 100, but then I got injured. Was kicking one off recently and got to around 20 and then got worried about an injury. Maybe I don't have the body for it. I will do 6 days a week with a double one day, but usually take one day off. If I feel great I'll run the 7th day but I like the break (plus that 7th day often starts with a meeting at 8 AM and I work until 9 30 PM when I get out of grad school - it's a good day for rest day).
@wk633
@wk633 Год назад
I've turned my two rest days into SUPER easy (almost walk) 30 min 'runs'. Every day so far in 2023, but with an eye to not letting the streak for the sake of a streak control me. There are higher priorities. Also have cut coffee back to one cup in the morning most days. Do use caffeine in events (gels, home-made energy drink with black tea...)
