I appreciate your take on paces and super shoes. Needed to hear that as a slower runner. I stand with you. So agree with you on the Hoka Cielo X1. It’s a wonderful shoe at all paces. Would have never paid $275 but was able to pick up a pair as a local retailer offered a 20% discount on the shoe. Thanks for the Ruby sighting. More Ruby is always appreciated ❤❤❤❤.

New Balance was recommended to me by a friend. I am using Trainer V2, Elite V3, and Elite V4. I love em.

I LOVE the NB SC trainer as well. I bought it based on your videos and i couldn’t be happier. I use that shoe for easy days and even those runs just feel easier. Also have the NB rebel and love that one as well.

Shoe prices are so crazy now that a “normal” 3 shoe rotation (every day trainer, recovery/max cushion, race shoe) would cost you almost 600$ if you buy the current year model. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate all the new shoe technology and it’s advantages but running is no longer a “cheaper sport” like it used to be proclaimed.

That is why you buy the last years model when the new one comes out. Prices are usually around $100 or less

Yep, buy last year’s models or just wait to buy during the sales that brands run 2-3x a year. I mean, the Pegasus 40s are like ~$60 direct from Nike right now (regular price $140) and those are current - the 41 is only coming out in June.

Agree with the commenters. I baught my altra Torins for 70 and my altra Rivera 3 for 70. Last years models at half price.

My current rotation is Saucony Ride 17, Novablast 4 & Mach X. When I started running last August I only ran in the Mach 5's and I loved them but not having an outsole meant it only lasted 260 miles. Having a rotation is great bc I know they're going to last longer.

Congrats on 21k BUT.... You deserve 500k! Great stuff! I kinda wish I had this months ago when I first started. I've wasted too much money and time buying and trying various shoes that I ended up either not loving or getting too many that I can't use everything. I just kinda stick with Ghost Max, 1080 v13s, and my Pegasus 40s. Kind of boring but they get the job done!

I LOVE IT EMILY!!! "You were whatever you want, as long as it's comfortable to you and you are having fun running in it!" YES!!! I honestly love my Rebel V4, SC trainer V2 and SC Elite V4 rotation line up. I'm all for the Rebel V4 since I used that shoe to PR my 10K race this weekend. PR by 8 mins and 39 secs! 🙌🙌🙌 That Rebel V4 honestly my favorite shoe this year especially with that price! Thank you Emily for another amazing video! Let's go New Balance!

Another great video 😁 😁 If I'm totally honest I don't really have a rotation of shoes the Adios Pro3 covers lots of what I do But then there's days I put on the Metaspeeds or the CieloX1 the bounce is just ❤❤ The Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 2 has to be one of the most underrated shoes on the market I find it fantastic.

Great topic! I currently have 3 shoes in my rotation. The Asics NovaBlast 4 (Easy run/long runs), Hoka Mach 6 ( Steady and Tempo) and the Asics Magic Speed 3 (5K, 10K races and track/tempo workouts.

My rotation is Novablast 3 and Cloudsurfer for daily/easy miles; Puma deviate nitro 2 for speed work. I don’t have a super shoes yet but very keen on the SC Elite ever since it’s released. Thanks for making the video!

The only thing you need to do now is add trail running to your list of hobbies--then you can double the number of shoes you NEED! I started with trails then added road running, so now I'm out of room to store my shoes...

Love your content! Im at 12 min slow pace and 10 min half pace and I 100% agree with you. If you like a shoe go for it! We’re all different speeds and different mechanics. Right now I’m daily miles using the vomero 17. Speed days I’m using the topo cyclone 2. My super shoe / race day shoe is the endorphin pro 3. I really like the diadora gara carbon but the rubber is already worn at just 20 miles so it’s not going to be long lasting shoe for heavier heal strikers. I like the cielo x 1 too it’s super bouncy just haven’t run it it much yet.

My current is: Daily : Novablast 3, Rebel V3, Adidas SL Max cushion: Triumph & Fresh Foam V4 Super Trainer: Puma Deviate Nitro 2 Super Shoe: Saucony pro 3 This year i know I’m getting Rebel V4 and 1080 V13. Not sure about my super trainer and the super shoe yet but I’ve read great things about the new Hoka Skyward X.

Current: Daily - Endo Speed 4, SC Trainer 2 Long run - Superblast, PrimeX Strung Race day (depending on distance) - Cielo X1 (long), Alphafly 1 (long), Vaporfly 2 (short), Adios Pro 3 (any in between). Really starting to lean towards picking up the EliteV4 since I'll probably never manage to get my hands on the Alphafly 3.

Being a shoe geek I have a number of shoes in my arsenal. But if I will just keep one per category as of this writing it will be the Nimbus 26 for recovery, Superblast for daily training, Metaspeed Sky Paris for speedwork and Metaspeed Sky+ for race day.

I don’t seem to be reaching for anything but the Boston 12 for the past month. Don’t do much speed work, but when I do, I like the Adios 8. Really want to try the Cielo x1 and the cloud eclipse to see if the hype is real! Thanks for the video!

My rotation has 3 shoes 2 daily trainers and 1 race day shoe. With my daily trainers 1 always has 150 miles before I start my new shoe. I am currently running the Boston 12 (265 miles) and the Puma Deviate 2 (70 miles) for race day I’m using The Saucony Endorphin Elite.

I agree buy and run in whatever shoe you want as long as it works for you… but people should know there are shoes (especially the carbon racers) that *generally* are just simply not as comfortable, supportive or helpful at slower paces. Again, generally, not in all cases. I see some people in, for example, Alphafly 3’s plodding along slowly and have to wonder if they’d be better suited with a daily/cushioned shoes - I know for me personally at my zone 2 running pace the new Metaspeed Edge Paris feel absolutely horrendous but at 5k/10k/HM pace they’re amazing. Conversely the NB 1080v13 I wear on those slow long runs are excellent but aren’t helpful at race pace.

Funnily enough the novablast is a great tempo dsy shoe as well. All my interval stuff is done in my novablasts 😅 although im feeling the geometry giving up on me on 6.30/mile upwards speed. Thats where a mach 5 or magic speed 3 comes in

Yes! The rebel doesn’t have a plate so it’s a little different. They can both exist in a rotation together

Two things: 1- you talked about the Hoka Clifton 1. I had one, and in my opinion it was the best Clifton ever. 2- regarding the Cielo X, I loved the shoe, but the shoe lace that comes with it it’s a piece of crap. I changed the lace, and the shoe became so much better that I dare to recommend everyone who bought this shoe to do the same. You will be surprised.

My rotation: short up to 14km daily Puma Velocity Nitro 3, long and easy; Nimbus 25 and NB 1080 V13; faster trainings and 5/10km Puma Nitro Elite 3 and NB SC Trainer 2; marathon and half Saucony Pro3; trail Fuji Speed 2 and La Sportiva Akascha 😉

Maybe the women’s version fits different, but the upper in the Rebel V4 felt huge when I tried it in a men’s 10.5. Much more space than in the V3, and not in a good way.

Yes I did have issues with the upper in that sense. It’s wide for my narrow foot but when I tighten the laces down I’m able to get a suitable fit

This comment might be a little late but I’d recommend ASICS Nimbus 25 or 26. Heard pretty good things about them and I think they’d be similar to the Clifton.

Shoe rotation? I just started running and bought Hoka Bondi8s and I wear them for every run. I also have new NB 520s that I bought for the gym, but I guess I could run in them if it’s important to rotate.
