I see a fair bit of pronation in your gait. Maybe the addition of some orthotics (if you don’t already use them ) might help the fit? Thanks for the very helpful video
Wish I had payed more attention to this… got Novablast 4, not excited AT all, find them firm and give me foot pains! Unfortunately same with the superblast… now thinking about getting rebels to give them a try and would appreciate a long run suggestion for the marathon training 🫶🏻
Not sure why people slag the Noosa tri 15. I love it so much. When my current group of 15s go out I’ll try the 16. I hope the 16 isn’t a squishmallow. I hate that in a shoe.
I had the same issue with the laces and returned the shoes after second run. After two miles I had to stop and awkwardly arrange the lace under the “tongue” to come up through the first plastic eyelet. . Unlike other lace systems the one piece upper does not lend itself to easy adaptations. Poor design.
The Neo Vista is the most amazing shoe that I have ever run in. Fortunately the upper works just fine for me, no rubbing or irritation. But no shoe works for everyone.
I have the Triumph 22 and I really like the foam. I find the upper to be too well built and the shoe a bit too big. I wish that they had made it a bit lighter and leaner. I will keep running in it because there are things that I really do like about it.
It’s not just you! I have the exact same issue with the top shoe hole pad (only medial one) and my navicular bone is irritated. My solution at this moment is to skip the first hole (on the pad) and just put the lace through the very last one, hook it and bring the lace from inside to the mid line to tie on the tongue, if that makes sense. I don’t have pain anymore (but it looks a little ugly as the laces are just popping out from wrong places). MIZUNO could have thought about this in the development phase!
I got to demo a few weeks ago. A great walking and recovery shoe, but a bit weird to run in when you get up to speed. Overtime the plastic plate could prove annoying, I'm a fore foot runner. Mid to heal may have different opinion. The demo guy has 400+ miles in his, so may not be the worry I was thinking. Crazy they are just EVA foam, doesn't feel that way at all.
Sounds odd but for £200 Which would you pick? Superblast 2 Asics metaspeed edge Paris?? I have a voucher for asics and need a race shoe and a long run shoe Can’t decide lol
That’s a tough one If you want a full blown racer I’d go MetaSpeed edge but if you’re looking for something with a little more versatility, go superblast
Hey Emily! Would you recommend it for a first-time marathoner (hence, aiming to finish not break records, in the 4:45 to 5:00 hour range), vs a carbon plated option? 😅 BTW, it will be this year’s NYC TCS marathon 😅
Hey that’s awesome!!! Yes I’d absolutely recommend this shoe for a marathon. This shoe has response, protection and comfort. You’ll see people say this shoe isn’t “race legal” because of the stack height but for non elites it doesn’t really matter.
Do you feel like the wide midsole platform gets in the way of the ride? Not digging this trend of supposedly neutral shoes being as wide or wider than stability shoes with respect to midsole platform
****I had originally gotten the stack height measurements from running warehouse. Upon further investigation, mizunos website says the stack height is: Forefoot 36.5mm / Heel 44.5mm 53mm seemed a little high to me!
I think you like this shoe 😂. I’ve never been able to wear ASICS before as they were too narrow. Now I’ve just bought a pair of Nimbus 26 and I’m wondering whether I can try any other ASICS shoe… You said it was narrow in the mid foot…..how does it compare with the width of the Nimbus? I currently have a pair of NB 1080v13 for my easy days but tbh, they feel boring to run in. Would the SB2 be a good alternative?
Love your honesty about this shoe. Another great review. I’ve never owned Mizuno shoes either so would be interested in knowing more about them and would love to hear your opinions.
Recently got the wave rebellion pro 1. At 5:30/km pace it feels like a lighter cielo x1 Edit I can tell cielo is a bit more stable but I’ll take the lighter weight over the mild stability.
I had problems with the lace holes also but if I make sure the laces are flat inside and don’t bunch up then they seem to do a lot better. My biggest issues is the heel-it shredded the skin on my heel. I’m going to see if I can either find different socks or a bandage that will help because I love the ride of the shoe otherwise!
I’m assuming because you pronate the upper doesn’t really lock up down and the ankle collar is probably pretty rough as well. I tired these on at my local fleet feet and they just felt unstable to my foot. I didn’t have any probs with the upper in was just standing in it.
I felt some pain from the same part of the upper and lacing system on right the outside of my foot. I didn't notice the pain until the end of an 8 mile run.
Wave Rebellion Pro v1 and v2 have both been stellar Mizuno shoes - very lightweight, breathable and extremely rockered. They’re my race day shoes but I’ve no interest in the Neo Vista.
i don't know if i get along with a knit upper, because i never really had a running shoe with that. so i think i'll give it a shot (i'll just wait until mizuno releases a more appealing colour than blue or white).
You can make them flat and they cut in a bit less.. or use a thick sock. I feel them aswell but the shoe is so bouncy for me. Im like 140 pounds and heel or midfood strike. That fit perfect. Didnt feel good as a forefoot striker shoe though.
7:44 LOL! 😂 Just imagine, Emily in a 10’ x 10’ room surrounded by fabrics and rubbers and half-made shoes slaving away in front of a sewing machine with a headlamp and magnifying goggles, making shoes 😂 You can absolutely makes shoes, do it lol. Love how you didn’t edit that part out. You’re adorable btw :)
You're not alone, the very same problem here with the inner part of the two laces holes.. the lace just pokes badly on the top of my foot, maybe something with high volume or wide feet (as mine), or a design problem of the shoe, I don't know.. but I gave up on this model right at the store, just walking I felt that annoying friction, no way I could run on these any distance.. not every shoe is for every feet, unfortunately Have a good day, from Brazil
When I see "features" like these on shoes (hard parts on flex points and stuff hanging off the shoe) and wonder how much they actually ran in these shoes in design/development or if the design team worked in a vacuum. These are things that cause problems on many different shoes (I've had issues with NB with some of these) so you would think we would stop seeing stuff like this eventually, but it just keeps happening.
I think this shoe is an absolute banger!! My only gripe and it's a small one is that booty upper. It makes my feet very warm! Flip side to that coin though is it's a great fit! I will be keeping it because it's a brilliant long run offering 👌🏻
@Feanaro5503 If you want a daily cruiser, then this is definitely worth considering. I wore some thinner socks the other day, and that did help with keeping my feet cooler, so if you do get them, then get some thin socks too 👍🏻
The Neo was an odd one for me. I tried it on a demo run a couple months back and absolutely loved it. However, when I purchased it and ran in it a couple of times that love faded. I started to get a hot spot on the ball of my foot - I think from not being able to get the lock down right. That upper is just so constricting. I even went up a half size and still found it tight. Hopefully they’ll give us a bit more room in v2 cause I do think they’re onto something with the midsole compound.
I have heard other reviewers mention the heel and the top two lace holes as issues, so you’re not alone there. I wanted to try these on but my local specialty running store told me they wouldn’t be carrying them, even though they stock other Mizuno shoes.
Personally I've had zero issues with the laces. My issue (and it's a small one) is how hot my feet can get in them. I do find the fit is brilliant though 👌🏻
