you probably already know but the tray below the burner is for fuel to heat up the gas generator. Denatured alcohol works great. Also I do a lot of restoring old Coleman lanterns and carburetor cleaner in the check valve works great to clean off the gunk and get them to seal well. love the video great sounding engine.

A new leather washer in the pump and some meths in the pre-heater bowl to get the vaporiser up to temperature first would have helped a lot. Seems like he needs to clean the jet too. I've never had a Primus blow out, once running. Yes, I've stripped a lot of old paint and bent a lot of metal with the help of a Primus blowlamp. It's fun, but you need some patience at the start and respect for the power when it's running at full-song! They sound like a pulse-jet! This guy has his heart in the right place, but he lacks some old-school knowledge and is too impatient. This has made the whole process longer and less efficient than necessary. It's not his fault. Btw, I 'liked' the video, because at least he's trying to preserve some history, unlike so many who think it's not relevant. Overall, kudos. :-)

Check out my other videos if you are was to see her running. Im hope fully gonna make a instruction video on how evrything works.

You're rushing it. To get the burner hot enough pour some Methylated spirit in the trough under the spray outlet. This will get the burner nice and hot so when you pressurize it lights and burns efficiently.

The blowlamp does not need to be pumped up as much as that. In fact it was over pumping which caused it to flame-out several times apart from the wind. The blowlamp should be able to go at least five minutes between pumps.

My father had a primer pump torch like that for installing asbestos floor tile. The torch heated the tile and soften it so it could be cut with tin snips to trim around door facing/moulding. The torch had a little trough below the nozzle where it caught an ounce or so of white gas (now know as lead free gas). The pump was pressurized with the plunger and then the nozzle opened (unlit) causing fuel to drip and fill the trough. The nozzle was closed and the trough of liquid fuel was lit. It warmed the torch nozzle and vaporized the fuel igniting the torch when the shutoff valve was opened. By the time the trough was empty the blow torch nozzle was sufficiently hot to sustain a blue flame which was nigh into impossible to blow out. To extinguish the flame the shutoff valve was closed.

once the fuel is burning, no more pumping, please. The heat produced by the flame is more than sufficient to keep the lamp burning ... Better check oil-level etc on the engine during warm-up-time! And if you'd have a leak on a gasket, please change that ASAP!

The blowlamp (gasoline rather than kerosene?) must have a leak. It should not take all that frenetic pumping to keep it running. The heat transfer from the burner should keep the pressure up without pumping. Also a windproof "jet" lighter would make life a lot easier.
@johnedgardh6360
@johnedgardh6360 7 месяцев назад
It's rare to get a useful comment, love it! It's a gasoline blowtorch. The problem whit it is a leaking one way valve between the pump and the pressure vessel. The ball in it had some deep pitting in it from corrosion. It's a 5min fix
