we love FREE!!!! Links to these 5 resources are in the video description box and if you have any questions, lemme know in the comments. Happy Friday and things like such as! (CC coming soon)
Thank you, Evelyn!! I plan to start a YT channel this year, so this is right on time. Need something to do in retirement for kicks n giggles. 💗🔻💗 your channel. Have been enjoying for years, including when you were at NC in Austin (shout out to my fellow UT Austin law school grads!). Btw your blue bell vid is one of my all time favs!! 😂😂😜😜
Thanks again for this AWESOME vid! Just left a comment. If you could provide feedback on elements that worked or could be improved on my channel, I'd love that! The Metamorphosis Channel
More free resources: Notion: similar to trello with a more clean/minimal design and SO many more capabilities. Check out youtubers like Thomas Frank & Mariana's Study Corner for tips & tricks on how to use it efficiently. It is slightly harder to use than Trello & others BUT once you learn it... you won't go back. Unsplash: another free stock photo website. Facebook Creator Studio: there's an audio library with more free stock audio. Similar to youtube.... it's aight, but it does the job. Canva: this allows you to create content for youtube thumbnails, icons, insta posts, stories, I mean ... everything. I LOVE canva. I especially love the Pro version BUT the free version is incredible too. Additionally, it's super user friendly so you won't spend months trying to learn how to use it. Lastly, if you're a college student, you may want to look into the free systems your school offers!!
Mariana I think did one on using the full google suite too, which includes Keep. It works kind of the same way and if you are already using google for stuff like calendars and photos makes it easy to move things around.
I started mine around Februaryish/March. I mostly started to maintain my editing skills and to challenge myself with doing something that’s out of my element. I actually look to you and other you tubers for tips or description box styles while being myself. 😃💛
I started a channel about a year ago and have gotten pretty discouraged from posting anything over the past two months. This was really helpful/uplifting for me tho! Thank you for sharing😊
Thank you so much for these tools! I started my channel a while back but decided to refocus it a few months ago. It still has a long way to go, but I think your Trello and Pexels recommendations will give it the jazz it needs. Free is the way to be!
Trello is so good!! A great free video editor program is SHOT CUT. It allows multiple layers of video and audio. Therefore you can do a lot with B-Roll, png drawings. I also used Google Drawings for my janky drawings and handwritten captions. :)
Oh no, you mean there is actually no excuse like I don't have a good camera and can't really work photoshop or really do anything fancy? That's tough love.
lololol issa tough pill to swallow but all you gotta do is look on my channel and sort "oldest to newest" to become a believer lmaoooo gotta start somewhere!
Using Trello to organize your content calendar is so helpful! I've used Trello & Asana for other stuff, but I've been keeping my content calendar on loose paper and then I lose the paper and end up playing it by ear. 🤦🏿♀️ And YES to starting your channel with FREE tools. Nobody cares that my videos are filmed on my phone. 💗
Everyone who clicked on this video deep down actually wants to be a RU-vidr so go on, do it guys. I am still in the starting stages of my channel and don't earn any revenue yet, it still is so much fun! 💙💙
Wow, thank you for these! I'm canceling my subscription for Video Blocks. It's very hard to find stock footage of POC's. I'm definitely gonna check out Pexels!
When you are addicted to fonts so much that you recognize that the example font was Luna. Lol I loved this video. I've used most of these tips for graphic design and marketing projects but I never thought about videos especially pexels and flaticon. Thank you!!!
You're welcome! And yes I be identifying fonts all the time! I can't STAND when my internet cousins/aunties use Zapfino for shea butter packaging lmaooo specific I know but i'm like WE HAVE BETTER OPTIONS!
Evelyn!! You have been such a huge inspiration for me and starting my own channel. You challenge the stereotype of what it means to be a black RU-vidr and I’m here for it! I’ve always looked up to you for how you’re unafraid to be yourself. Thank you for this video I plan on using some of these resources!!
seeing veda 2020 there has me feeling a way lmaooo. I remember back when I watched your vedas as a freshman in college. Those videos were really oddly motivating to me during that time
I promise I have at least one "gut laugh" at some point in every one of your videos! Always my treat to watch your videos and learn something new! Thanks Evelyn!
This is a great share, Evelyn! As we've had to move most of our in-person events online, I think my small nonprofit organization and many others could benefit from a few of these tools. I definitely plan to share. Thanks for the help! Also, I can't believe dafont.com is still around, but that's some kind of testament to its value and usefulness. Great resources.
Evelyn! This is so generous of you! Give. And it shall be given unto YOU. Good measure, shaken together and running over will men given into your bosom. (I KNOW you get the KJV reference😉) Continued success this 2020 (pandemic notwithstanding), if we are alive it is a good year and better days lie ahead. I appreciate you internet cousin! Muah!
Internet Cousin!!!!! It's your Internet cousin from Toronto. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video. I love this series. I have been watching your channel for years. I trust what you have to say about delivering solid content on RU-vid. I am going to try out these tips for sure. Keep up the great work, and thanks for pointing out that we need more melanin in our stock photos! Keep up the great work.
TECHNICAL QUESTIONS: 1. How did you create the colourful titles (the turquoise background with the icon and words) that appeared in the demo video at 14:29? What app did you use to make the words appear and move around at 14:56? Thanks again! I've used Flaticon and Pexel in the video that I am currently editing and I am really grateful to have been introduced to this resource. I really enjoy this series.
Dear Internet Cousin, As a fellow RU-vid creator dipping their toes back in after the Adpocalypse, I have to offer a better solution for the fonts! The problem with DaFont is that a lot of the better fonts require a business license to use OR are donateware (requires a donation to use), which is fair, but if you're looking for FREE fonts, a lot of them on that website are really overused on many channels, or wouldn't be good for RU-vid because of how they're made (sans serif vs. serif, etc.) I suggest Google Fonts! Google has a lot of really good fonts that one can collect and add to their style bible for their RU-vid's aesthetic, and best of all, they're all legit free; no license needed! Just trying to help my fellow creators! ~ Bree.
Hi! I just wanted to comment even though it's 2021 , I found this video very helpful! I have started streaming in the last few months and I want to eventually make youtube videos as well. This video is insanely helpful!!! Thanks!
Thank you for posting this. I created a channel, but have yet to upload any content yet because... I've been too intimidated because all I have is my phone. No fancy equipment, no fancy lights and no $$ to purchase any of it. But armed with this info, I don't have any more excuses. Thank you!!!❤❤❤💯
FontSquirrel is another great font resource - and all free for commercial use. I love DaFont too but I always forget to filter and end up loving a font that is personal use only (like, ALWAYS).
You are so awesome! You know what? I think you can do a zoom/ Google duo/ whatever meeting for a fee like a TED TALK. You got a boat load of wisdom... and us like it! I'd pay to talk to you directerly! Think about it!
OMG My internet cousin always coming through!!! I am actually looking to place my pinky toe in the sea of RU-vid. I am super nervous but excited. Thank you for the tips and info. You are such an inspiration and have a beautiful spirit!!! I hope to see you out there in the internets someday soon!!! 😁😁😁
This is dope! You are dope and so informative! So many ppl don’t take the time to actually explain how they did xyz in fear of competition I guess.. love and have saved👌🏾 luv from 🇬🇧

lool i'm planning to start a youtube channel in 2020 and it's not beauty related. I have nothing to lose and a lot to gain plus it's on a subject matter which i am passionate. Wish me luck!! Thank you soo much for this super informative video!
Crack in the screen? Pffffft, just say it's some nifty filter you're using! And I do have a question: what video editing software do you normally use or would recommend (I'm a PC Mademoiselle, je ne parle pas la langue des Pommes! HA!)
I would love feedback on my videos so far ! I have enough to click through. 🤗I’m always looking to improve. I’m a beauty/lifestyle RU-vidr. Thanks for y’all support ! 💕✨
Thank you Evelyn, I enjoy watching your videos. You are educational and entertaining-edutaining :-). I am working on growing my channel these are helpful tips.
This is great, thank you! Just curious: what softwares do youtubers use to edit their videos? I want to get on RU-vid, but I have no clue what software and equipment to use to start out.
