SWEET! These remind me of some of the old 4-banger dDeltics that's pump out a thousand horses at 900 r's. Just loafing along with a piston looking to be the size of a 35 gallon grease drum. I like any slow speed engine and Thanks, Scotty! Supper is coming!
Yes, indeed. I like the big slow ones too. I'd still love to have any/all EMD, GE, ALCO, or Baldwin diesel piston and connecting rod just to show and appreciate their size. Sure enough, gonna shut 'er down now and go to my friend's house for some dindin tonight. Cheers, mate!
Nice I don’t remember SP switchers in that paint scheme but it does look good by the way is the Alco RSD -15 alligator that used to be at Metropolitan stevedore in Long Beach still at that museum by any chance
This paint scheme was actually EMC's demonstrator scheme back in the 1930's. When SP bought their first diesel, SW1 #1000 from EMC, it was solid black with white frame stripe and I think the white stripe across the hood. SP just basically put the Southern Pacific Lines on the hood sides and called it good. The black and orange tiger stripe switcher scheme came into being in the mid to late 40's. As for the RSD, I believe it is an RSD-12 and I did see an RSD hood from a long way away in their backlot, but that area was off limits when I was there. I don't see them on the website, but I think I remember that they have at least 2 RSD's there.
@@remylopez4821 Holy cow, you and I are on the same frequency, man! I literally was just thinking about that yesterday (but also in the past too) and what I would need to do to do it, but the major problem is that I don't have nearly as many locomotive still photos as I do of the trucks. When I go to the truck shows, they are sitting still and easy to photograph. Whenever I see trains, they're usually roaring by at a pretty good clip, and I don't have much opportunity to get good still photos. Also I'm usually shooting video of the trains as they pass by, so I can't get many stills. But it is something that I would love to do. Also, for me to see good trains on a regular basis I usually have to go a minimum of 60 miles to see them. But, I really appreciate your daily support for the truck pics!
