paul hunter : It's a Type 4 commonly used in the late model VW camper vans and the Porsche 914's. The engine can be converted to a Type 1 configuration to fit in the common VW bug. I have a 2056cc Type 4 in my 1965 VW bug, the torque and HP's are insane, not to forget, much more reliable than the Type 1 Engine.
Oh really? The first engine I ran out of a car was a 350 Chevy, in 1982 had the oil pan sitting in am old tire and had a couple of 2x4's propped up under the motor mounts jammed into the ground. bad idea!! It tried flip completely upside down but thankfully it pulled the ignition wire lose and died. No I would say the outriggers are a good idea...
