In 2004 I worked next door to the company in Southam Warwickshire as a hgv driver where I delivered the Rover 75 V8 front ends completely painted and wrapped in Hessian. They went to Longbridge where they were inspected and I can tell you they were fussy any slight defects and I had to return them this is where I first got my love of the Rover 75 I've had 6 now from the V6 2.5 to the 1.8 turbo and the diesel. Despite the build quality of later models and cut backs that came in to save money. I don't think I've ever driven such a comfortable car.

Thanks for the comment and for sharing your contribution to the construction of the V8s... very interesting. 👍 Good to know you are a fan of the 75 / ZT and it sounds to me you have had a decent number of them. They certainly are comfortable and handsome cars. Thank you for watching the video.

The V8 front bumper interesting stuff. Don't know if you are able to tell me or not but I would be interested to know the name of the company that produced the V8 front bumpers if you are able to advise? Is that company still in business?

Still one of the most beautiful mainstream saloons ever designed. Ahead of its time in 75 guise when it first came out, chrome, English gentlemans club, everything alot of british press moaned about. Now we have exec cars using chrome etc.. I loved what they did with the 75 turning it into the ZT range. This one is very special indeed. Cracking video and car.

Thanks for the comment, I am so glad to know you enjoyed the video and like the ZT. I also could not agree more with your thoughts on the 75 - a fantastic car and upsetting that a manufacturer who can produce a car like the 75 / ZT could go out of business. Many thanks for taking the time to watch.

@@cornishcarcollectors my father had a 75 2.0 v6. Creamy smooth power, gorgeous sound, ok not the most powerful engine and the ride like no other car at that time, superb. I had a Passat at the time and the 75 felt so special, an occasion to drive in. Agree, a very sad demise. My father also had a SD1 V8, I loved that car and boy did it go considering its power, the noise.

Thanks for the comment. You have hit the nail on the head with your comment, a car like the 75 / ZT should not sound or drive like this, but MG Rover made it and I love the fact they did. Thanks for watching.

Hi Andy well done on a great video and that is a seriously beautiful car have always been a fan of the 75 and ZT and even though I live not far from longbridge I have never seen a v8 one in the flesh! It’s a shame it came so late in the rover story it never got the chance to embed itself in the market but it’s made these cars unique and even more loved and the engineering and detail which went into these was amazing My best friend and cousin both worked on the transfer of the 75 to longbridge from cowley and installing the tooling and the line there and then on assembly The monogram was a great idea and the options to personalise really made the cars individual and special in equal measure Love that exhaust note it’s to die for and reminds me of the older rover p6 v8! That’s a special car Andy and well worth keeping and enjoying and look forward to seeing it more on the channel Daniel

Thanks for the comment... and if you live that close to Longbridge please do come along to Pride Of Longbridge on 13 April. I plan to be there with either the 600Ti or ZT260. The ZT260 is a very special car and a really important car in my collection, with my children and I having made lots of lovely memories with the car. Thanks for watching.

I remember seeing a couple of new 75 V8 tourers with auto trans for sale at a dealer in Slough, a short time after Rovers problems. They were having trouble shifting them, so were heavily discounted.

Lovely car and so many nice monogram colours. I do like Mirage and your car is a beautiful example. I think the Mk1 is the prettiest version the facelift didn't do them any favours as far as i was concerned. Good that you mentioned the two sixties. I own a 75 V8 and i'm a big MG/Rover fan.

The Kernow 300 was your first two videos that I watched. The Mirage paint, spoiler & Straight alloys makes this car as loud in looks as it’s quad exhaust notes! I’ve had four 75/ZT’s & still own three of them with the V6 being my preference. I’m going to surprise you when I say I actually prefer your infrequently seen Rover 75 Tourer. I have a soft spot for hum drum daily cars & estate bodies are my favourite body style. I’d love to see a video dedicated to your workhorse.

Don't know who produced the Rover 75 v8 front spoiler but RDS components painted the front valance which was nearly all the front end. They also painted the body kit for the mg-zt i just delivered them to Longbridge.2004. till they eventually closed 😢

Was building such an unnecessary car, part of the reason why rover collapsed ? The phoenix four were more interested in vanity projects than ensuring that there were new models in the bread and butter range of cars?
@cornishcarcollectors
@cornishcarcollectors 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for the comment. I think mismanagement prior to and during the Phoenix Consortium's time at MG Rover was the cause of the marque's downfall. The 75 / ZT V8 was a budget attempt to put a car into competition with the likes of the BMW M5, Audi RS6 and big AMG Mercedes. The MG ZT V8 received real praise from the motoring press, but was always going to be a niche product and not mainstream, which I agree is where MG Rover needed the investment albeit I do not think the V8 project budget would have saved anything... too little, too late. Thanks for watching.
