My home from home, got married in Corfu town in June this year, love the place 😁 and yes you are right the north west of the island is full of us British 🤣
Greece is just paradise, the light, the blue colour of sky and the sea, the hospitality of its people.... getting tears in my eyes from describing... and I'm here: in Greece🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏😉
Coming winter, I'd recommend that you explore mainland Greece more, late autumn and early winter are ideal for that. You're a ferry ride away from Igoumenitsa, so Epirus and Western Macedonia are at the palm of your hand. Try Parga, Syvota (beaches), and the beautiful city of Ioannina, go to Dodoni with the ancient Oracle, Zagorochoria, Metsovo, Vikos Gorge, Kastoria, Florina, all winter and mountainous terrain will give you another feeling of mainland Greece you possibly did not believe existed. I know that being from Canada you may not miss the cold, but I think it's worth exploring.
As an American living in England, Brits definitely love the sunnier warmer climate! My hubby and I are are currently touring Athens and the food and history has captured us…we will definitely be back! Can’t wait for this series!❤️🇬🇷
Well, if you're here for the fall, we would suggest to start visiting mainland Greece, especially the little beautiful villages on the mountains. Check out Zagorochoria, the villages north of the amazing town of Ioannina with its lake (which you should also visit) as well as the mountain villages around Karpenisi and the Peloponese (like Vytina, Dimitsana, Stemnitsa) or Kalavryta or Trikala of Corinth with the amazing lake Doksa nearby. There's tons to see in the fall and the winter months in mainland Greece besides the islands. Greetings, Mirella and Panos!
GREECE! I’ve never even been there but I’ve already fallen in love 😍 🇬🇷. I’m ecstatic that I get to tag along and experience Greece through your videos, perhaps being able to make it there in person one day! Oooh, I’m so excited 🤩.
Hi guys. I know the feeling you describe when going back to Greece. Hard to describe but definitely a good ,relaxing feeling. My favourite island is Crete, where I think I could live full time. Food, weather and laid back atmosphere. Haven’t been to Corfu so looking forward to your upcoming videos. Cheers, Dan. ✌️🇨🇦
Thank you for coming back to Greece. Corfu is VERY beautiful but maybe you have to consider that it's the most rainy place in Greece. It could be a little melancholic during winter. Also smaller islands, like Cyclades could feel a little remote during winter. For a permanent settlement I would recommend Crete which has EVERYTHING you may wish or a tour in the Peloponnese which is a real diamond, a hidden treasure, which feels like an island in many places, extraordinary landscapes, beaches, historical places etc. You may check a video called: "Peloponnese, Greece beyond the obvious " to see what I mean.
The people of Corfu have such warm hearts (and in Greece in general) You will find American and Australian travellers on the west coast of Corfu in summertime. Have an amazing time guys❤
Welcome to Corfu! it's a beautiful island. I made the decision to move here 12 years ago within a few days and never looked back. Best decision of my life clearly!
We are with you!!! Greece feels like home to us too! We love Crete, would love to buy a second home there one day! You guys are happy in Greece and it shows great video guys!! ~Cara 💖 (I was so disappointed when I took a DNA test I was NOT Greek!🥲)
Well done guys for your important decision to move to Greece. We are anxiously awaiting your videos about Corfu, its history, its food and its natural beauties. And why not, the first Greek words! I hope you have a great time there!
I totally share your feelings about Greece. It's just that wonderful energy that makes it easy to connect to that place. If you are looking at Greece in terms of a long-term stay, I suggest you go a lot more to the south. My favorite island is Skiathos, but it's not good for the cold part of the year. If you are considering mainland, then perhaps Kalamata or Volos would be interesting options for you. If you want to experience the beauty of living on a greek sland all year round, then the best place is Agios Nikolaos, Crete. Good luck with your fascinating quest!
Such great advice. We've been on some southern islands before and they would be much better in the extra cold months. We'll be out of Greece by that point either way ✈- Trevor
A bit late to the video this week but better late then never! I’m so happy you guys chose Greece! It’s very very high on my travel list. I can’t wait to see more of it. Every one has always said Greece is amazing. ❤ Let’s go!
Welcome back to Greece! So happy I found your channel💖We are a Canadian family who moved to Greece last year. My husband has come back to his birth place and we are waiting for permits to start building small suite rentals. We live on the island of Thassos. Most northern island in Greece, called the Emerald Island by tourist. It's wild here! Not as developed like other greek islands. We have four seasons and snow for about a week in January. Thassos has many beautiful beaches and amazing mountains for hiking! It's the best kept secret island of Greece! I'm enjoying watching your channel. God Bless your travels💐
All greece has 4 seasons. Go to mainland greece which is the continuation of dinaric alps and you ll be covered up in snow several times in winter. Go to Florina and see for yourself
Wooo so excited you guys are back in Greece and choosing it to live in! We definitely miss the freddo cappuccinos, all the food, and the cats. Thanks for the introduction to Corfu! Excited to see more of the island and see where you guys settle.
Have you been to Lefkada? You're very close to it being in Corfu! I highly recommend! It's very beautiful and truly has some of the most breathtaking beaches. I wish you much happiness as you seek out a home in Corfu!
Hello fellow Canadians ! As a greek who did my MSc degree at Queen's U., Kingston, Ontario, Canada more than 30 years ago (my god time passes) I welcome you (again) to our beautiful country!. I have watched many videos of yours. You are very cool!. However, I must say that you do not have the maple leaf on your back packs ! 😀 Since you are going to stay for 90 days in greece I suggest you to go to Zagorohoria villages. It is just across Corfu!. It is THE best time of the year for this. You will visit the world's deepest gorge (vikos gorge, yes it is not grand canyon, check it on wiki !) and 2nd longest one in Europe (1st one is again, where else, in Greece, Creta !) and the most crystal clear water that you can find in a river (Voidomatis) being a natural habitat of wild life like wolves and bears. It will totally change your perception about the Greek landscape. Do this and thank me later !
You're correct Trevor - we are excited you guys are back in Greece! We only spent 1 day in Corfu, Old Town. Greece is pretty much tied for favorite country for us, with Italy. We love everything GREEK! We cannot wait to go back, so will live vicariously through you and Anna. - Coreen
Awesome to see you guys in Greece! We were in Corfu a few months ago. Just missed you! We looked into going to the north of Corfu but we booked last minute and it was quite expensive with not many places left. Good thing you're there in the shoulder season. Looking forward to seeing more of your Corfu videos 😀 If you do decide to head inland, we really loved Ioannina. It's got a more local vibe, which we quite enjoy and it's a foodie paradise.
@@DelightfulTravellers we hope our paths cross one day. We've finally made it back home to Sydney Australia. It's nice to be home, but part of us is really missing travelling - especially when watching your Europe videos!
also some some dodekanes islands have white houses: Astypaleia for example, which is really magic. with its fort/castle with amazing view to the Egean Sea. easily reachable from Kos, if you are interested in going there.
Nisyros is an amazing island! Kos is a 30 min ferry ride away. We spent the month of May there. Had an amazing air BnB to stay in by the sea and enjoyed watching the ferries coming and going. Most make it a day trip to see/walk on the volcano but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
Kalimera from Tanzania Both 😃 I lived on many islands in Greece for over 9 years. Corfu. I know your going to take pics of Paleokasritsa. James bond haha Oh and endless droves of beautiful olive trees. How blessed 😃
Those islands are greek islands you know. You turks have a lot of greek land already no? It s not enough for you? Now you want greek islands too???, or rather the greek islands are close to the Turkish coastal cities that used to be majority greek until 1922 like Smyrna when kemal attaturk killed all the greeks there.
This is an incredibly timely series! We are also looking for spots to spend a bit more time, and Corfu is on our list as well. I would be interested in understanding which towns are “live” towns through the off season and which towns close up for the winter. Have an amazing time!
As a Greek I am so proud that you love my country so much. Go visit the hidden gem area of Northern Greece in Macedonia especially during the fall and Christmas season! I am from the Prespa lake region and it is beautiful! As for the islands you really should go to Kea. It is so mystical and underrated. It is also a 35 min ferry ride from the mainland.
Love Your Videos! You both do a great job of showcasing what Greece has to offer. I currently live in the US, but was born in Athens and I can relate to a lot of what you have experienced in your travels there. My family's ancestral island is Lesvos, which is the third biggest island in Greece. It is known for its Ouzo and Olive oil as well as unique natural beauty and history. The Poetess Sappho was born on the island in the 6th century BC in the Village of Erresos, and Aristotle left Athens to study the islands unique flora and fauna in the 4th century BC. I highly recommend you visit there sometime if you get the chance. Looking forward to your future videos.
So excited for you guys to make the move to Greece and doing some slow traveling through the country! Can't wait to visit Corfu sometime and see all the places you recommend. My wife and I are moving to Chania, Crete in December for a year and can't wait to live full time in Greece!
Aww, Corfu is wonderful if that's where you choose to stay. Yes, northwest Greece is the rainiest part of Greece in the winter. OTOH, Corfu is a great base to explore Epirus region in the autumn. Hop on a ferry to Igoumenitsa, rent a car, and head to the Zagori villages and Vikos National Park. And further afield, Meteora. I would strongly recommend the Peloponnese region, which is basically a microcosm of Greece. Historic Nafplio is a mini-Corfu City. And you can explore the region and its wonderful towns: medieval Monemvasia, the Mani peninsula (and its towns and mini-castle towers), the Messenia peninsula, the Arcadia stone towns like Dimitsana...and Peloponnese is relatively warm for winter.
found you just now and like the relaxing vibe you have. I am in Gozo/Malta 3 years now and was 7 years bevor in South-Central America. was long time ago in Kos and Kreta. loved it and one day I want to move again to? still open. I am from Switzerland and left for good 2012. reached 67 and still want to explore.......laughing. blessings
Hi Anna and Trevor, I would definitely would like to see more videos of the city and the gastronomic part of Greece. The beaches so far does not impress me as I come from the Dominican republic and beautiful beaches is what we have all over. I wish you guys a great time there and would love to see you back in DR some day again!!!
Hello from Halifax! 🇨🇦 I just discovered your channel, and I love watching your adventures! I dream of visiting Greece someday... and your videos are making me feel homesick for Greece..even though I haven't been there...if that makes any sense! Haha! Looking forward to following you on your travels and see where you end up! 😍
I am a Greek stuck in North America because I am not in a profession that would allow me to work that far remote… but that said - Eptanisa are all amazing, my favorite is Zakinthos, but Lefkada is amazing as well - Corfu is stunning in it’s own right, but the other two I mentioned have better beaches. Zakinthos is also the farthest South, so their warm weather season extends a bit further than Corfu. Have fun!
We love greece as well, we've been to kos, kefalonia, lefkada, halkidiki, zante, skiathos, every island beautiful, we're staying for 8 weeks July 2023 in kefalos as well, never tried corfu yet but wele get there eventually, enjoy the rest of your travels and stay safe 👍
My wife and I lived in saranda for about 3 months it's a really great place but the towns on the smaller side and things tend to close down during winter. Things also get harder to find the farther you are from the city center . Prices for food and everything are really good though it definitely is worth a stay for an extended time.
Been busy, so just watching, but I'm so happy about your move 💯‼️The year COVID hit my daughter and I had a trip planned to Greece and Croatia. So now I can now at least enjoy the views 🤣
Greece is beautiful, I have been to Corfu and did visit Roda , fantastic island but there’s so much to Greece, Rhodes is a favourite, and Stoupa in the Peloponnese , I’m sure where ever you decide it will be great. 🇬🇷🌺👍
I love the show from pbs where the British family moved to corfu in the 1930 true story absolutely fell in love with corfu bc of that show. If you know it and see the house from movie definitely film it ..enjoy so excited for you both ..❤️😎🇨🇦
Great video guys and it looks beautiful!!! And a nice beach!!! I envy your life, you have worked hard to have it so enjoy it all!!! Looking forward to more videos.
Hi Anna, Trevor, love your vlogs and like you Greece is my favourite country was bit worried when I looked at one point when you were having a drink thought Trevor was going to get up and hit his head on the pole , but was the angle of it lol, enjoy guys looking forward to the rest of your vlogs x
I m so excited for Greece! Ha, I caught you guys still can't forget DR!! ; ). Don't come back for a few years. We are more loved where we are missed. ; )
Corfu was under British rule after the Napoleonic wars and eventually unified with Greece in 1864 :) The brits still love to vacation in Corfu, as you have discovered!! So excited to see you guys back in Greece!! I personally have been vacillating between Athens or the island of Evia (where I have family). Evia has some extensive and major history, it was even mentioned in Homer's The Odyssey but no matter where you end up, I could not be more excited!!! looking forward to more!!
Taki we're so happy to be back here. It almost feels like home at this point 😀 Corfu is so green... we're a little shocked honestly and can't wait to see more of the amazing island here - Trevor
Ah Corfu, the land of everything kumquat! Check out Antranik restaurant in the Old Town. Outdoor terrace, great food (we had calamari, Greek salad and a couple of Mythos beers that were icy cold, and free wifi. You will get a kick out of how the server (it was actually the owner when we went) stops the traffic to cross the road to bring you your food. See if you can spot the gift store also in the Old Town with an acrylic floor filled with seashells. We absolutely loved the Old Town!
Another great video. Colombia is my Greece. When you said "it just feels good to be back", that's how I feel when I touch back down in Colombia - where I am now. Also that's where you guys were.when i found your channel. It's interesting how many young ppl from the US/Canada are looking for other places to live long term over time. My family thinks it's crazy🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ anyway, thanks for the good content! Keep it comming!
Hi Guys. Been a while but still watching! Thinking ahead maybe you could head to Cyprus as they have a separate schengen agreement. 90 days there then back to Greece for another 90 days! Milos, Serifos and Sifnos Islands are worth visiting. Parga on the mainland is gorgeous. For now the weather will be warmer in Crete but I guess you know that! Have a good one whatever you do! Spence.
I used to buy iced cappuccino from Starbucks in CA but they would make it with hot foam. Then at some point they had cold foam iced cappuccino. You can also get fredo at Starbucks here in Spain. One thing I would also advise as a Greek to foreigners is to visit the places also in winter or spring to get a feel of the life and what’s open/available outside of the heavy summer tourist season. Some places do get too quiet
So happy for you, guys! If you ever get back to Athens and you need help, I would love to assist you. I know the city pretty well. Welcome back to Greece!
Greece looks beautiful and I want to visit one day for sure. We love Italy of course and have been many times. I am of Portuguese/Azorean background and in the last few years have discovered how amazing it is in Portugal and the Azores. Any thoughts if you will ever be going there and see if that would be a place you want to live? Just curious.
Yes Portugal is very high on our travel list to get back to. We've been before and have very old 'cringe videos' on the channel haha. But for living... yes Portugal sounds perfect 👍 - Trevor
Hey guys love the fact that you are in Greece. If you want to visit other islands and that are pretty much close to corfu, you should check out Lefkada, kefalonia Or even Zakynthos my favorite..
Haven’t been for over 20 years unfortunately…living in Italy we would get the ferry there…we liked the beautiful coast line of Paleokastritsa and Liapades area best on the western side of the island as we preferred small bays etc…but as I said our last visit was more than 20 plus years ago…look forward to seeing these places through your eyes..enjoy
I'm a Greek-Canadian and I've lived in Greece for a bit as well. The food is so absolutely amazing and the drinks are CHEAP! And I can go live there for as long as I want :) (if I had a few million dollars hahahahha)
Try Volos city while you are in Greece. It has anything you need, great mountains and ski resort plus unique beaches right by the city. And close to unique places as Meteora or Skopelos.
