We hope you enjoyed this first video of our road trip - subscribe to come along for the ride! 😊 And let us know in the comments if you've been to Mauritius or are planning to go!
I'm Mauritian and it's so rare and heartwarming nowadays to see our country! Love and keep trying even if there are tough times and be you, don't be ashamed of yourself, you're fantastic in your own way!❤️💙💛💚
Just wish you guys had shown more of the scenery because most of the video shows just the two of you, but overall a good video, it’s definitely on my bucket list
Me and my girlfriend have been watching all your Mauritius video - you guys are so good at doing this! Especially you Zoe - that smile of yours if beyond what words can describe! A question do, We´re going to Mauri in a week for 10 nights, usually we rent a scooter on vacations, would you say car is a better to explore the island?
Thank you very much, we're happy to hear that! 😊 It's been a while since we visited, but scooter vs. car depends a bit on where you are planning to go. With a scooter it's obviously harder to to take luggage with you, if you're planning on checking out the whole island. The road conditions were pretty good when we were there, but between some places there might be bigger highways that might be better to drive on with a car. So all in all it depends on your route and how comfortable you are on a scooter.
I was born in Souillac, Mauritius but migrated to Australia in 1972. Enjoy your stay on the island. In the old days there was a sugar mill at St Felix where my brother-in-law used to work. His house was about a mile from the beach.
Are you from Vienna? I lived there for three years. Was quite impressed by Austrian Airlines actually....flew from Vienna to Tokyo and back and they were pretty great.
4:30 is perfection😂and thanks for another excellent hot car review! Just curious: Did you guys recently hire an editor, or have you just gotten super good at editing over time (even including really nice animations for things like the historical explanations, etc.)? Also a random tip: You can get rid of the audio pops that happen at the quick cuts in the car (for example, 14:12) by tapering the audio slightly on the end of the first clip and the beginning of the second clip (sometimes just the first or just the second, depending on the amount of background noise in each). Not sure why this happens, but it also happens to us in Final Cut, and it definitely has to do with the volume of clips when they start/end, so it usually happens when there's a lot of background noise, like in a car, on a busy street, or next to a waterfall or something. Hope that's useful!😊We really love your videos, and can't wait to see the rest of Mauritius!
Hi guys, thank you that means a lot! 😊 We edit the videos ourselves and also create all motion graphics 🙂 It's a long learning journey (as you probably know 😁) and especially when it comes to creating graphics and animations we're basically just starting out. Thanks also for the audio tip! We do usually try to have more smoother audio transitions between clips, but for the car clips we probably forgot in the heat of finalising the video 😅 GoPro footage seems to be especially prone to creating these pops in the edit. Are you also still creating travel videos at the moment or currently taking a break?
@@ZoeandSimon Wow, awesome job then! We've definitely noticed your editing getting really good, especially these last few videos, and the animations already look pretty awesome, at least to our untrained eyes!😁 (We haven't tried making any animations yet...it seems so intimidating to get started, but we'd love to one day!) We took a year-long break from travel and RU-vid, but we're resuming full-time in exactly 3 weeks (starting in Mexico...we are PUMPED), so our next video will probably be in late January-ish, and will hopefully be much better quality too. We've learned a LOT during the break😅 If we're ever in the same part of the world at the same time, we'd love to meet up! After we sufficiently prove our RU-vid mettle, that is💪 We'd be thrilled to exploit your fluent German, and can offer you good Spanish and bad French in return😎
@@emjosh Thank you very much! Yeah, learning new skills such as creating animations and graphics is always intimidating and overwhelming at first, but it doesn't take much to create simple visuals in the beginning. And from then on you can improve step by step 😊 Very cool that you're returning to full-time travel soon! 🙂And yes sure, we love meeting up with fellow travellers and creators - it always just needs a little luck so that destinations and travel dates overlap, but it happens often enough 😁Hope you have a nice festive time at home and safe travels after that!
Great video I really enjoyed watching it. I will be travelling to delicious Mauritius this year. Please would advise the best place to hire a car 🚙 and how much will it normally cost? I have given you a like. Thank you 😊
Thank you very much! You're gonna have a great time on Mauritius 🙂 We booked our car via a German rental car comparison site. We like these sites because they compare all offers and also take care of extra insurance. The rental company that we ended up going with is called First Car rental and everything went smoothly. We paid 48€/day incl. comprehensive insurance.
Hi, planning to visit mauritius in September. Planning on hiring car been looking online. Any recommendations on where to hire car price and insurance, please. And accommodation 😊😊Thank you for informative video.
Hi there - glad you're enjoying our videos! 😊 Regarding accommodations we've got a summary of our route and accommodations on our website (www.zoeandsimon.io under itineraries). We booked almost everything on booking.com and some stays on Airbnb. We booked our car via a German rental car comparison site. We like these sites because they compare all offers and also take care of extra insurance. The rental company that we ended up going with is called "First Car" rental and everything went smoothly. We paid 48€/day incl. comprehensive insurance. Hope that helps and that you have a great time on Mauritius! 🙂
Looking forward to your adventures in Mauritius. Can you let us know how much the food and drinks are where possible? Can you also let me know the name of the Air BNB you are staying at in La Gaulette (or the link to it) ? Enjoy and stay safe !
Thank you! Yes, good point we'll add prices for food in our next videos 🙂 You can find the apartment in La Gaulette on Booking and on Google Maps if you search for "Fullmoon Apartment & Studio". We'll add a link to it in the description as well.
Luckily we already had some experience from driving in Australia. But it still always takes a day until our brains fully adapt 😁 Up until that point we sometimes swerve too much to one side of the lane or accidentally turn on the windshield wipers instead of indicating. And roundabouts also take a few go's until they feel natural. But now it's a lot of fun!
@@philwebster3914 Thank you, yes all good here, December was just a bit busy 😁 We'll be posting the next video of our Mauritius trip on the weekend and from then on we'll be releasing the next parts more regularly 🙂
The History of Mauritius 🇲🇺 is Wrong they were indigenous African people on the islands 🏝 And they were slaughtered That story is a typical European his history story🎉
