Like you I also have an FE and a MAT 124G. Great fun and results shooting with the 6x6 and its a real conversation starter. I also love using my orange Nikonos V on land and its also an attention grabber 😉😊
hearing testimonies like this reassures me, that despite what many people say... gear does matter, especially if it's inspiring to use and helps create the results the user wants.
@@knoptop I think gear matters in as much as we have the right tools for what we’re after creatively. I think the “gear doesn’t matter” sentiment comes from photographers who review gear so have access to anything they want at any given time OR people that stick with their one specific setup and only get new gear once in a blue moon. At this point, I think photography is a medium that is 100% linked to the tools, so I think to ask photographers to not care about cameras at all is kind of dumb and ridiculous
My eyesight is not what it used to be so a 6x6 negative on the light table is much more pleasant. Also having only 12 exposures per roll forces you to be more selective in choosing images.
Love my 124G, the square format gets alot of hate and I have no idea why... I love it. The "reflex" refers to the mirror/image reflection.... Similar to SLR (single lens reflex)
"Reflex" actually has to do with the image reflecting off of a mirror and into the viewfinder. Also, that is probably just called a Yashica-Mat if there's no other labels on it. It was their second most produced TLR after the 124g variant.
@@adrianemikko it definitely used to be tough for me as well. I used to always leave too much room in the top of the frame, but now I just try to cram as much as possible in there lol
