Hey Justin, it is currently -2°F and dropping, so I won't be able to plant for some time here in zone 5a. I need to get a soil test done in the spring for the area where I want my in-ground beds, but I'll have to wait for the ground to thaw. As you showed, I need to amend the soil in my raised garden beds and pray for an early spring! Happy gardening to all of you plant people out there! ~Margie🤗🌱
I’m here in Vermont and I can’t plant tomatoes outside until the 2nd week of June. I made a cattle panel greenhouse 8x16 that I put raised beds in. I get a 3-4 week head start.when the snow is deep in March I plant romaine, butter crunch lettuce, spinach and radishes before anyone else .tomatoes and peppers do well in it during the summer. I have screened windows and doors with a fan. I rarely hit 90 here . I get 6-8 weeks extra growing time
Great information! Clear and concise and easy to understand. Last year was my first year attempting to early start seedlings, epic failure. Only the gourd plants somewhat survived. Thanks Justin!!!
Great info! Gardening should be accessible to everyone… you don’t have to have a lot of money to start annuals and grow on. currently I’m growing, petunias, snapdragons, moon flowers. Thank a bunch and Happy Spring, y’all should be very busy this season. watching from a Houston tx Gulf Coast.
Hi Justin, great information and video. I always enjoy your plant and landscape videos. I live in North Georgia also zone 7b. I want to visit your nursery in the near future. 🙂 Thank you Greg
We definitely 👍 will visit your nursery. You have some shrubs that I want, I can’t find them were I am at. My neighbor wants to know if you ship anything? Thanks, Greg
Has anyone ever told you that you look and sound like Demolition Matt from Off the Ranch? I enjoy your videos you are very informative Thank you for the content
I've watched you for awhile and really like the way you present plenty of information. I've started my garden and got a good start based on some of the information you provided. Oh yes, and I subscribed to keep getting the info!
Great video, love the tips. For the first time we will be starting our seeds in our greenhouse. We have a house now that has one attached to the back of the house. Super excited. How do you keep those pesky green bugs off your tomato plants?
Justin love your videos - best advice and knowledge I’ve seen for the south! I bought a house with horribly overgrown shrubs and am starting from scratch on this landscape. Your shrub videos are my go-to for planning. BUT I am desperate for help with tomatoes. I have 2 better bush plants in my raised bed, side by side. One is great and already (May) has 2 tomatoes. The other is turning yellow and spotty. It does have a slew of blooms but looks like it’s dying. What’s the deal?? TIA
I love this very informative video! I would like to know if it's necessary to get a soil test done if you are already planning to top dress your garden soil with compost.
The only time I get a soil test is if I am consistently having problems growing plants in a particular area. I've not ever had any problems in my raised beds but I do add quality compost to them every year.
Loving your videos, very informative. Do you have tips on making the raised beds? Type of wood? Is it treated any way? Recommended size? Best material to fill?......Thanks
Hi, you are very helpful. What are companion plants to help protect from pesty insects? I live in pennsburg pa zone 6 b starting a garden this year, picked up seeds as you suggested, and what I want to grow. I'm going to build raised beds while waiting to time to plant. Thank you 😊
Hi Justin can you please do a video on Christmas caladiums what they like, sun exposure, etc. If you already have one could you link it please as I don’t see one.
I remember you posted a video about what to put in your raised bed before you restart your garden but I can’t find it. Can you point me in the right direction?
Who do you purchase your seeds from? Last batch I got nothing grew, and they wanted me to take photos and send them the dead plants. Which would have cost me more than the seeds! I've been growing my own garden since I was 10 years old and am 51 now. So I know how to grow seeds but finding quality seeds is getting harder for some reason. I had the same thing happen a few years back with Menards seeds.
