Billy, It is so wonderful to see your Dad working along side you. Nice work in the Library, The kitchen is just stunning, the transformation I have wittnessed is Awesome! Inside and outside.🎉
I was puzzled when you mounted the mirror. I assumed all the embellishments were added after the construction was completed. However, after the process and explanation, I understood why. I understand why you will have to place the units around the stud work, etc.................I am learning every time I watch your channel. Thanks!
I'm so grateful you are taking every precaution to protect the oak library. The building has a history of damp, so adding a moisture barrier is such a great idea. Could you please give us a clue on what kind of lighting you hope to incorporate in the library? The chandelier in the kitchen is truly extraordinary, but costly. Secretly I'm hoping you find something similar. The beauty, drama, and elegance it brings to the room is definitely worth the cost. ❤
I'm in Australia. We don't have damp problems so I know nothing of such things but won't drawing the moisture one way & then trapping it into to wall create damp walls? There are so many videos on damp & mould problems with plaster being removed to dry out walls, etc I'm curious as to how this product alleviates such if it traps moisture in the wall itself?
@@johnhawkins2105 hi John! Hope all is well where you are. I'm not sure if you saw Billy's explanation on your question but he is only adding the moisture barrier to the exterior walls. They are adding insulation inside the stud work of the interior walls, to help with heating and sound, but no moisture barrier.
Billy! Here in America when we build new homes we use the vapor barrier on the outside of the house over wood exterior before we put siding on. What you are doing is really no different. Allows the walls to breathe, keeps moisture out, and if you use a faced insulation between the stud work it keeps the room regulated temperature and moisture wise. Great job!
Jon, not sure how far south you are in the US, but in Canada we use the breathable barrier on the outside of the building as you describe and a impermeable plastic barrier over the studs and behind the plaster board. This prevents interior building moisture from condensing in the insulation during winter months.
@@mikerickards3721I'm in Idaho . we use the same on the inside too, keep in mind I haven't done carpentry for 20 years, aside from small projects around the home. but the faced insulation often times does the same job if you are on a budget. My house was built in 2008 and they didn't use faced fiberglass insulation and did use the plastic on the studs.
I know we do things differently in America. This is a beautiful project. And working on a building hundreds of years old has its very own challenges. Don't let anyone get under your skin. Im sorry it's taking a towle on you. Just keep doing what you are doing. Your work is impeccable. Its beautiful. Thank you for sharing! Im a 65 year old woman, but as a girl and young woman, I worked with my grandfather refurbishing turn of the century homes in Northwest Indiana USA. I love watching your work. It brings me such joy! Bring an old once forgotten building back to life is a joy within itself. Again, thank you for sharing.
I assume an electric fire will be installed in the fireplace. It’s already giving us an impression of the outline of the library which is exciting. And how wonderful that the mirror and fireplace fit perfectly in that space. ❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻
This whole convent project was so exciting for me when you started it, everything has been so amazing. Can you imagine a guest chef cooking demonstrations in that gorgeous kitchen. I flipped when the organ was put in, but this library has me dancing. Billy your vision for these spaces are perfect. I also wish someone would give me the energy of Yanis. Can’t wait to see Simon again. Your dad is amazing too. Gotta love Rick. Too many people to name but I love how everyone works together. Great job on these videos Alex.
Mick positively amazes me! I am "only" 76, and there is no way I could do what he is doing. I would need to sit down every 20 minutes and rest. Mick, you are my rock star!
Hi Billy! Do the library walls sit facing the gardens? I was thinking maybe installing one set of French doors at the end for a patio, outdoor seating, and access to the gardens. You are planning on having pathways throughout like the nuns had right? Also, I don't know if you said or imagined it but, did you say you were going to build window seats? I love that idea! As always another great video and seeing the progress you all have made in such a short time or so it seems. Well, it is the 4th of July here in the States so we will be celebrating our independence. Hope you all enjoy your weekend as you have well earned it and I can't wait for another video on Monday! You all are just killing it and the progress seems to going more quickly not that you have formed a team and you all work so well together.
About a week ago another viewer suggested window seats for reading in the sunlight. Billy liked the idea. That’s the only mention I’m aware if. So maybe you saw that comment. 😊
@@JSUKyrks69 I would be wary about planting flowers so close because there are people who are allergic to bees. But somewhere close enough to enjoy but far enough away that bees are bothering people.
If they do window seats, please keep in mind that most window seats are uncomfortable since their cushions are usually too thin (keep this in mind when choosing box height), their cushions don’t stay in one spot unless upholstered to the deck and putting a lip across the front invariably will jam itself into the back of any occupant’s knees. Light coming in (even if indirect) will damage the upholstery fabrics on the cushions, seating, draperies, wall hangings, and rugs as well as the books. I want this project to succeed beyond anyone’s dreams and I’m rooting for them!
Library is coming together so beautifully. I couldn't help but fantasizing about a window seat on each side of the mirror and curling up in the window seat and reading for hours. I am hoping when I finally get my wish of traveling to Europe, that I can stay in a room at the convent, and take a lesson on French cooking in the fabulous kitchen.
Music, enchanting music, has returned, absolutely setting this channel apart from the others. We love you all, but your music choices will keep me coming back daily. Many thanks
It look so nice and clean. Yanis is always happy and ilkling to work. I like the color of the floor, color that goe with everything. The mirror looks great right there. Can't wait for the fireplace.
RIP to that tile floor. It has held up to an unbelievable amount of abuse. Also, Billy a couple years back, spent a lot of money for all those power tools by that manufacturer. It was a large initial investment, but the quality of the tools seems to have paid off for all the work they have performed.
This is so exciting! That mirror is absolutely gorgeous by the way. I can't wait to see what you do tomorrow, it is all coming together so nicely. The library is going to be such a beautiful cosy space. Great job with the flooring too. 😊
What a great reward at the end of a work day. The mirror looks amazing. You give us a taste of the grandeur of what the library will be. Thanks for the bits. Looking forward to the feast❣️
The library construction is like a Tetris game. Like how Alex is editing the videos this time. The music last time around was great and I built a whole playlist from the videos with the help of Shazam. This time, with the real life sound track, is demonstrates how calm the work environment is and the concentration involved to keep it that way. Hope you have baguettes and sausages again for lunch one day. This time you can make your own in the kitchen.
Excellent progress and - thank you SO much for not using a music soundtrack as much as was the case in previous episodes. Consequently your minute-by-minute work feels so much more like we are in the room(s) with you.
Your dad has to be proud of how his sons have done for themselves. I wish my other son had turned out nearly as fine as these young gentlemen have. Cheers Terry
How exciting! We are about to witness the process of you all putting together a three dimensional puzzle of the library sort of like the organ but even more suspenseful as you are creating as you go along, Billy. Awesome, awesome project.
Billy, dude I commend your patience in explaining things so the keyboard carpenters don't lose their minds. You guys know what you're doing. That's for sure. Cheers mate!
Thank you Alex!❤ We wouldn't be able to have a clear understanding of what is going on and the plans for the future, without all the videoing you're doing. This library is now coming together. Thank you Billy for explaining. I put the barrier on all the walls that I had books, to protect the books & artwork. Thx again for letting us peek into your world.
I feel like Billy reads "ALL" our comments and too many of us question the methods without knowing the overall vision. We American viewers who are used to very different construction methods might be getting on Billy's nerves a bit with our questions and suggestions😂😂😂...I absolutely love the whole project, and use Billy's videos as an excuse not to work on my own...I feel a sense of accomplishment watching as much as I do "doing" my own sadly😂😂
I agree with your comment! Billy must get fed up with being questioned about his methods and ‘told’ that in America we do it differently!! It’s France 🇫🇷 NOT America 🇺🇸 😅
It is brilliant that the mirror fits perfectly on that piece of wall and that the fireplace will be the right size as well. ❤ And it will really nice with window seats and/or cozy leather chairs.
It is probably worth also getting an industrial Dehumidifier for the library that attaches to a drain, unless you are putting AC in there, cause I know some have a dehumidifier built in.
When Simon gets back he is not going to believe what has been accomplished. Your Dad must be so proud of his children...and I think he has adopted Yannis!! 🥰🥰
I'm really enjoying this series. It's going quicker than the kitchen, obviously, so I see more progress daily. I'm not so impatient that way. Haha! Thank you, again, for such interesting videos! Can't wait for the next one! :)
There is something so majestic to see a pointed granite wall. Covering it up loses so much if it’s beauty. I hope the doorways can be left original as they frame the space so nicely-just an idea.
