As a mum of 2 boys who has also been there with the nap schedule. I recommend only allowing them 30 minutes extra sleep when they have a rough night. Any more and it throws off their routine like you said. I always wake my boys up no later than 7:30 am so they can be asleep 8:30pm at the very latest.

I love that yall live in TN now I’m from there and visit all the time because our family is still there. It would be so fun to meet yall one day or if yall ever did like a meet up.
That's what people get wrong there... Nobody can "feel" like themselves again because they are always themselves, even if they are someone they are not. 🎉 And the best "version" of someone is not the work they do to themselves, but the work they allow God to do to them.
