How do you trap dragons so good

Mobs can't destroy walls if they are outside their own biome. As far as trapping them, you just need to move at a diagonal. For the dragon, the quest says kill it in the cave, but you just need to kill it in winter. For the lava dragon, you need to finish killing it inside the lava biome, so I did the last bit with my pickaxe.

You have to build the trap outside the cave. I know the quest says "inside the cave", but you just need to kill it in winter for some reason.

Not really. I took some damage from cold in winter, plus a hit from the dragon and that noob savage. But I wasn't planning to do life quest anyways; I wasn't good enough at the game. I had never done that many quests at once before.
