The point of the rice water is to be a rinse.. So the last step of your routine not the first one. Like this you wash it all of and nothing will happen 🙂
For best results, wash the rice twice first. Then you can boil the rice with twice the amount of water needed. Extract remaining water, which is nutritionally enriched and leave that for 24h. Then use it as a conditioner. Better results that way
You could next time try living in nthe rice in the water for the whole night add orange peels and some herbs like sage or rosemary and then strain it in the morning !! You'll be amazed with the results
Some tips. 1. Wash the rice a few times. 2. Soak rice for a few hours (2-6hrs) 3. Ferment rice water overnight. 4. For low porosity hair leave only for 5-10mins or rinse it out right away. Leaving it in for much longer can dry out and break your hair.
I've been doing this for years... i let my roce water soak over nighy with rice than strain ot and let it sit for a couple days to ferment before using it... better to leave on for less than 30 mins.. like 15 mins is enough ... I do it like every 3rd time I wash ... I only wash my hair 1 or 2x a week so every 3 weeks I use rice water ... I have long hair to my hips and I do color it and this makes mu hair amazing feeling
No the rice really does that result i haven't try that things cuz i don't exactly know how to but people in the northeastern Indian of Manipur people use that technique and it is a real thing their hairs r great and healthy
Not only did we not see the finished product, but washing your hair with rice water doesn't mean washing the rice water out with shampoo, twice. It's a rinse
⚠️warning⚠️ please know that this routine is only for some hair types, and if you do this with the wrong hair type your hair will start off nice but then turn brittle, dry and sometimes damage your hair and dry your scalpe so please do research
Do it once in a two week or once a month, it has protein and too much protein can make your hair dry and brittle, if your hairs are too weak then try without fermenting it, I hope it works
@@MyMessyMind High polerosity, its the type of hair that benefits from this the most. I have low porosity and this just made my hair feel awful & dry cause its like a protein treatment too ( which i didn't need ). Learnt the hard way.
@@Hajra0 Take some strands of hair from your brush or comb (be sure to use clean hair as products can alter the results) and drop them into a glass of water. Let them sit for a few minutes, and if the strands float after the time is up, you likely have low porosity hair. If it sinks, the hair is likely to be high porosity. Low porosity is when your hair is water-resistant, making it harder for moisture to be absorbed into your strands. High porosity hair easily absorbs moisture, but it's harder for the hair to retain or hold onto that moisture.

I am giving you another piece of advice. For getting out of dandruff, use rice boiled water and soak your hair and head for 10 minutes and wash your head with shampoo. Repeat this frequently and you will be Dandruff free.
If you got fine, dry and brittle hair, you shouldn't do this. It's too much protein. This works better on thick, Asian hair. Don't do this treatment too often, if this is appropriate for your hair type. And don't use shampoo or conditioner after. Just rinse it out.
guys, please check the porosity of your hair first before doing this. if you have low porosity this may not be a good idea because your hair could become brittle causing more damage. it’s better to do this with medium to high porosity since those hair types need more help getting protein through the cuticle. the way to check porosity: taking a piece of your hair and putting it in a cup of water. if it stays on top, you have low porosity. if it floats in the middle, you have medium porosity. and if it sinks immediately, you have high porosity. not trying to hate just want to caution people first
Hello, I'm from Indonesia n that's like our traditional way to make hair looks good n healthy but u need to do it as weekly treatment so u can see the result.
Rice is a starch and when you let it soak in water the starch extracts itself into the water, which makes starchy water. It has some nutrients and benefits to wash your hair with but I wouldn't say it replaces shampoo or conditioner.
For better results, make sure to have done your research about it which includes stuff like protein overload, hair type, how to properly make the rice water and use, etc.
Where I live(a state in North-East India called manipur), this was the traditional way to wash our hair and it worked magically because most people had silky smooth and glossy hair, like my mom who has the blackest silkiest hair I've seen. Nowadays most young people use shampoo, but still a lot of old people and a few younger people use this method to wash our hair.
@@jagatdeuri3261 yoo, I really like Assamese food. My uncle went to Assam and he brought this white coloured snack (sorry but I don't remember the name) and it was so good.
Actually one of the fact about rice water is when you use the wash water to your face your going to have a glass skin which youll look baby face too just like majority of asian does that that is why they look younger than their age. ❤
It is our traditional way of washing hair in nirth eastern india. We boil the rice water with some herbs, gooseberry, or with lemon if necessary. After cooling it We strain it and its ready for use. Its chemical free and healtheir for our hair. My aunt is 70 but her hair is still black, shiny, thin, smooth and so soft and no sign of grey hair so far. Edit: North eastern india*
As a north eastern Indian, wow i didn't know that. Maybe we are from different state or have different cultures, where are you from bud? I'm from tripura btw(saying so I don't look creepy lol :') )
@@arushisushi7124 As rice is our staple food. No rice is wasted. Only the milk of sticky rice is used while preparing this natural shampoo, as i call it. The steps involve: 1.The water we've used while rinsing the rice is saved in an earthen pot. 2. certain herbs are used while preparing the natural shampoo and i do not know what its called in english😀 3. We mix the herbs with the rice milk and boil them till cooked. 4. Cool it and strain it. 5. Wash your hair with it once or twice a week and rinse your hair with lukewarm water. You may nt like the result as your hair will be sticky but thats normal. P.S We do not soak the rice overnight. As the rice will be wasted.
@yup do you use it once a month or once a week? Do you use it after the shampoo or before it? Do you just rinse your hair with it and leave it? If yes then for how long? If no then do you rinse it again with normal water? The time when I'm washing my hairs with rise water can I choose not to use any product like shampoo or soap?
It's more better when you cook the rice in a round big bowl the left over heavy water in the bowl drink that with the salt.... it will help the whole body rather then a particular part even you hair and nails
Ahhh I think the point of the rice water was to act as a treatment, so you should’ve done it AFTER shampooing. Skip conditioning altogether or condition after the rice water. Always use COLD water, never warm. Warm water causes your hair cuticles to open which is essentially damaging your hair. Cold water closes the cuticles.
I’m not even questioning it anymore. My phone just reads my mind. I keep getting things in my feeds abt stuff that I’ve only thought about. Didn’t even look it up, and yet it pops up.
You’re supposed to ferment it the fermentation makes a difference then you want to put citrus peels it typically cost for a pomelo fruit peel but citrus works OK and then you can add essential oils like rosemary and peppermint to not only mask the scent but also to help with stimulating hair growth! Hope that helps

YOU HAVE CURLY HAIR if your hair is always “frizzy” and “poofy” when you brush it or it always gets all wavy when wet or partially dry then it is probably curly/wavy. not everyone’s hair is like ppl on the internet. id say your hair is about 2a or 2b just by the way is naturally waves up when wet. i have wavy hair and it always pains me to see girls who don’t know about their natural hair and always brush it and take tips from straight hair girls and then end up hating their hair 😔. just a tip from a curly girl ily 🫶
I have been told this so I'm just relaying the message Rice water doesn't work the same for all hair, it could have different effects on different hair types
You really need to do this carefully. It's supposed to be a rinse after a routine. Also, if you use it too much, it can dry put your hair. It's best for adding protein to your hair.
We've been washing our hair with rice water for 1000 of years . I am Manipuri(Manipur , India) and this is our culture ... There are some recipes for the rice water to use on hair not like this ... Also don't try this in modern world as you have shampoo .
@@ridhigautam5350 but my hair is thin and easily fall. I just wanna have a fast growth at this point 😅 any tips to make this rice hair routine to prevent any damage?
That means you most probably have low porosity hair. Rice water is a protein treatment and too much protein isn't good for low porosity hair, maybe try leaving it in for a shorter time like 5-10 mins or just use it to rinse your hair. It may work or but it can also not work at all for some hair types.
Make sure the rice water isn’t too concentrated. Wash the rice 2 times before using the remaining water. And don’t be scared of watering down the solution further.
As u see from the video, after leaving it over night just use the top clear water. Leave the sediments at the bottom. We don't even shampoo here. U use only the rice water and just wash it off wt water.
it actually work with face!!! washyour face with the rice water and let it dry in your face !!! do it everyday your skin will be so smooth !!!! ( thats why asians are very smooth)
Here’s a fair warning: Rice water stinks like HELL, so try and tough it out as best as u can cause the results are worth it! Edit: Most people here are saying it’s a rinse, but my mom used to use it to wet my hair in the beginning and a rinse and we always get the best results! Experiment with it and use it as you want! :))
