Bro same, Heimler CARRIED me throughout the year and ended up getting me a five on the exam. Whap is a hard coure, make sure to take advantage of all the help/material Heimler offers.
@@truegirlclips748 No I didnt, but I did watch all of his videos(they are organized by unit), and took notes on each one. Its alot of work but it is really worth it, he covers all the main points you need to know with sufficient examples. Im not sure how the review packet is, but if you have trouble organizing your own notes then I would get it. If not the videos are enough. P.S. - I hope this helps :)
Okay! Cannot stress this enough for those who will be taking an AP next year or this year or whenever. These are tips I’ve learned just having done my AP and what I realized about thr course and studying. 1. THE COURSE IS HARDER THAN THE AP EXAM ITSELF. Now don’t freak out, because this is actually a good thing because if you can ace the course and pay attention and use resources such as Heimler, study guides, and ACTIVE RECALL to study then you will be FINE on the AP. I just had mine today, (can’t say anything about it ) but just now that they’re so much easier than the mock exams. I didn’t think I could do it, but literally ERASE THAT MINDSET BECAUSE YOU WOULDN’T BE IN THAT CLASS IF YOU COULDN’T DO IT. and if you got to that class by cheating, chances are a lot of people did. But now you’re stuck there and HAVE TO PUT IN THE WORK. Do not complain if you are not putting forth effort. Hard truth, but still truth. DISCLAIMER: I’m not saying that I know everything cause I really don’t, but this is from my experience. STUDY TIPS: REVIEW YOUR CONTENT- if you have a lot on your plate, it’s understandable, trust me, I know but you’re gonna have to make some sacrifices of your own down time(not all the time, but times where you have buttloads of free time) I’m not saying spending hours a day studying, but literally a little everyday. Know yourself and how you learn. Look at courses that you’re striving in and think why? If it’s because your a person who can retain buttloads of information just by listening then great, but a lot of us aren’t. This is where ACTIVE RECALL (rewording it for you to understand) and acting as if you are teaching others and writing down notes in ways you can understand. When I tell I did this and my brain feels like it can’t let go of the information now, it WORKS. And if you do this in the days leading up before your tests, you will be fine. using Heimler and study guides (DUH). You can find so many online, but make sure it’s in the right course since there are so many AP courses with similar names. Also before you AP try to do mock exams so that you will know thr format of the test. My teacher would make us do certain amount of questions in certain amount of time like the AP (44 in 44 minutes and etc) and it helped me get use to the format. I know it’s easier said than done to get up and start studying, but I’m telling you it’s so worth it that you’re not literally about to have a mental breakdown. STUDYING SMARTER NOT HARDER - if you know that you’re well versed in one topic, don’t spend a majority of your time studying that. Spend time studying things and vocabularies and ideas that you’re NOT good in then come back to where you’re well versed and do a little refresher. TESTING DAY ITSELF: The key is to NOT panic, especially if you studied CORRECTLY. If you studied and you start getting scared that you’re blanking, and think you don’t know anything, trust me you do, just find something that you remember and then as soon as you do, build off of that. KNOW YOUR RUBRICS. If you know that you’re not good in writing, first obviously you should be practicing and asking your teacher to grade it against a rubric or someone who is strong in that course, but let’s just say you crammed and didn’t, then at least know your rubrics. Know where you can earn points because there are still so many ways to get a 3 on thr AP exam, and for regular tests you can earn points as well. Don’t try to go for complexity all the time, don’t care what you’re teacher says, it’s not important, you know yourself better than your teacher and if you know that you take longer writing, don’t waste your time. But if you are trying to go for complexity, utilize statements such as HOWEVER, NEVERTHELESS, statements that you can build a counter argument off of. For me, I was able to also do comparisons between certain things of different time periods, and TIE IT BACK TO MY ARGUEMENT. also tie it back to argument, through saying “this leads back to the argument….” It may seem complicated, but it’s not and you need to practice like how I did. I was able to get a 6 my LEQs (in class not AP exam, at least idk yet lol) because I practiced and used tips from Heimler bc he breaks it down so much easier. ANOTHER THING WITH WRITING. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS MAKE SURE that your CONTENT, EVIDENCE, AND EXPLANATION/ANALYSIS tie back to your argument. It would go like this….. state your evidence using a vocabulary term, then explain that term then tie it back to your argument using “this supports the argument because…” the graders will love you! Then rinse and repeat and all you need to do that for us two pieces of evidence, three or four if you can. If you studied, you should be able to do four which is where you can try and use similarity or difference between your examples if you wanna try and get complexity, but do NOT stress if you can’t. Two if sufficient. REMAIN CALM. REMAIN CALM. REMAIN CALM. My teacher suggested that on the day of the exam, you should start by looking over the Lea prompts first, seeing which ones you know and then starting those first. If you’re well versed and have studied then it should take you 25 minutes max. It’s okay if it doesn’t, but I know that studying correctly will help you get to this point. For tips on thr DBQs, I suggest watching Heimler because I myself am still working on those Hope this helps and remember, you DO got this.
Hiiii wow u wrote a whole paragraph. I wanted to ask you a question since u know so much about the APWH AP... do you think attaining a 4 or 3 is possible with using JUST heinlers study guides and video without a class in school?
for anyone who needs it (and for me to study lol) social aspects: confucianism- a hierarchical system where people are subject to higher-ups (women to husbands, children to father). it emphasized the importance of family and social harmony political: bureaucracy- government officials are appointed based off their score on the civil service exam (tested knowledge of confucian texts) interactions with environment: the growing of champa rice in lowlands, riverbanks, and hills culture: religious diversity and the blending of daoism with buddhism to create zen buddhism economy: merchants participated in long distance trade and began to sell goods instead of keeping them. also, the transformation of currency from coins to paper technology: accidental discovery of gunpowder, woodblock printing, and the manufacturing of steel. i put what i thought was most important, but there are definitely things you can add. if you think i missed something worth noting, let me know

People in the comments: I only have a few day before the AP exam and I haven't started studying, so, now I'm bingeing all of Heimler's AP World History videos Me: school started 3 weeks ago and my AP World history teacher is just using these videos in his lessons (in all honesty though, as a master procrastinator, I will probably be bingeing these videos in the beginning of May)
rather than panicking last minute for the exam im actually gonna start studying now 😭(my school year just started) but this course is a lot more difficult than ap human geo. in that class there were a lot of big concepts but this course every single topic feels like a bunch of information i have to cram into my brain on little specific things and our teacher just gives us slideshows to take notes from and its getting overwhelming but these videos help a bunch
I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE I HATE THIS COURSE
How did that strategy work for you? Was it maintainable? I'm taking the class next year and I want to know what works best! good luck on the upcoming ap!
@@alexakosinski9854 I have 2 weeks until my exam and have refused to study whatsoever. I fought hard to pay attention but ultimately the information bounces off my brain. It is fate that I wait until the last minute to study, but I will hopefully study good enough to get a 4.
@@alexakosinski9854 If you wanna know what I’d actually recommend, just get the heimler review packet. Go over the units once you’re done with them to keep the information from rotting, and make sure you don’t wait until the last few weeks like me to start studying. No matter what you plan, though, life can take a lot of turns that’ll throw you off the rails when you least expect it - so just do the best you can no matter what happens for you next year.
I hope you did well on your exam! I'm going into APWH next year and I am already studying lol. I'm not going through a disaster like I almost did in AP Human Geo lol
you guys in the comments have no idea how much you’ve saved me with your notes and observations omfg its almost two and this assignment is due monday and its (technically?) sunday now
I took the AP World Exam in 2020, alongside AP European History. The day before the test I had not studied at allc(please Don't do what I did), so I binged and took notes on Hiemler's videos. I ended up getting a 5 on the exam. Thank you Hiemler!
First year teaching AP. These videos are great. The college board needs to seriously make their course outline more efficient. Or have some kind of teacher notes so teachers can teach the content without having to always worry of they missed something or forgot to cover something
Yeah it’s pretty overwhelming to jump in. But take heart: I haven’t heard from a single APWH teacher who isn’t struggling with all the new material. You’re in good company...
@Jennifer Clark I do this all the time with the textbook. Your not the only one. This is why they need to have some type of teacher notes. The AMSCO book is a good outline and has a tidbit of information on all the individual topics in the college board outline, but rarely goes into any depth with anything, mostly just bare basics information which is really going to hurt on the writing sections.
my notes if they help: 1 (Song Dynasty)- -1000 CE- China still world’s biggest power -Split into regional dynasties as Tang Dynasty loses power -Zhao Kuangyin gathers and unifies all states into Song Dynasty that lasts from 960-1279 -Builds state structure lasting 1000+ years including 6 departments- Personnel, Finance, Rites, Army, Justice, and Public Works, all sought over by a censorate -Organization influenced by Confucianism, believing that everyone has a hierarchical place in society that makes a society work if performed correctly -Huge achievement- Revival of Civil Service Exam, a test needed to work in China, effectively creating an intellectual population and workforce with power -Chinese merchants partake in long distance trade across Afro-Eurasia, leading to a commercialized Chinese society -Chinese manufacturing drastically increases as goods are now mass produced for sale and use in other parts of the world -Iron production skyrockets, for both domestic and foreign use -Gunpowder discovered and mass produced -Chinese have massive influence on neighboring regions’ cultures, namely Japan -Religious and cultural influences shared with and by China due to frequent trade with foreign countries -Buddhism arrives in China and develops into different forms, like Mahayana -China’s population, agricultural base, and manufacturing boom all allowed for China to become the wealthiest empire on the planet -A common language, confucianism, and a deeply rooted culture allowed for China to become the most unified country on the planet reminder that it is scientifically proven that you remember things better when you write them down yourself, but ik some of yall are short on time 😅
Welp, self-studying the course in the fall and winter and completely procrastinating my review until weeks before the AP test might not have been the brightest idea, but i mean Heimler's the goat and it's not like I have anything else to do 😂pray for me yall i haven't written a dbq since last year's apush test 😭
Hi Mr. Heimler! I watched these videos to review for the exam and they were a great help! Now I'm watching them again because of an error with the submission process and I have to take it again. You're a life saver, cheers!
This is my third round of binge watching these videos for the AP test and i have a weird feeling that i am missing half of the curriculum! I'm stressing!
To anyone here last minute for this year's test, good luck! You're going to kill it and remember that you KNOW this stuff, don't underestimate yourself! Now go take that test!!!!
I was feeling anxious about really only getting into studying a month before the exam. And then I read this comments section. Thanks for making me feel adequate, y'all!
POV: You actually studied up to this point but you have serious ADHD and have a difficult time retaining information sometimes (but you’re actually trying really hard, you promise.)
My notes: 1000 CE- china is world’s preeminent power 960 Ce- china spilt into regional kingdoms as the power of the Tang dynasty was gradually waning Zhoa Kuangyin-ruler that “founded’’ song dynasty , song dynasty in china from 960-`279 Song dynasty=big state builders Song emperors built a state structure that would last for thousands of years Song state structure: decided oversight of state into six departments, personnel, finance, rites, army, justice and public works, overseeing all of the departements=Censorate, made sure no one in these bureaucratic departments was behaving bad, if not behaving good they got budded Confucian understanding of the world=reality is fundamentally hierarchical Civil Service Exam: test that you had to pass to work in the imperial bureaucracy -main part in exam was being well versed in COnfucian ideals -exam had effect on shifting power from a hereditary form of aristocracy to a new class of scholarly leaders Chinese merchants participated heavily in the robust system of long distance trade across Afro-Eurasia CHinese merchants crossed afro-eurasia carrying goods to be bought and sold in mass Afro-Eurasia:african european and asia landmass Result of trade: increasingly commercialized chinese society Creating goods for people not only locally, but in distant markets CHinese manufacturing flourished China’s iron production around 1200 rival Europe;s iron production in the 18th century 11th century, China producing 32,000 suits of armor and 16 million iron arrowheads yearly Transformed the role of money Not enough metal available to keep up for the demand for coins Transferred to paper money GUNPOWDER Accidental discovery by Daoist alchemists who were trying to discover elixir immortality Fireworks and pyrotechnic displays for the imperial court used gunpowder much before it was used in a military context Religion Buddhism Came to china from india Mahayana buddhism: vietnamese form of buddhism Summary: Population+agricultural base+manufacturing=wealth Language+confucianism+culture=unity
online school has messed up my studying skills so bad and my test is exactly 3 weeks! thank you so much for this! I'll probably be back here next year for APUSH too lmao
I honestly don't know what I would have done without these vids thank you soo much i'm serious I probably would be soo lost and wouldn't be confident at all of getting a 5 in apwh this year without you
