A 300 lb bench is impressive at his size, but it's VERY surprising that that was enough to make him the Nebraska power-lifting champion. I'm the same weight as him and can bench 285, but I'm nowhere close to being a top-tier athlete.

It’s probably an accumulation of his deadlift, squat and bench. Since his bench and squat is tremendously high for his weight, the claim sounds possible.

Weightlifting is a incredibly underrated training for not only strength but also speed because if you can do it in the right form and you can lift the weights fast, you’re just going to move faster without them.

Had a guy live in the school district next to me who was widely known in the area to be the baddest high school football player in south west Ohio if not the entire state. He was a track star and lifted numbers even more then this guy….he went on to play at Michigan State and drafted to the NFL, his name was Javon Ringer. Amazing how talented some people are.

Reminds of of a running back from my highschool who benched 340, squat 500 something and deadlifted over 500. He ran a 4.4 or a 4.5 was shocked to see he only got to a 2 year college to play football there. He ended up getting killed by lightning after only being in college for like a year or so.

Know a dude that, sadly, scratched at our state meet 2 years ago. 10th grade benching 315, squatting 545 or 535, and deadlifting 600, on his second rep. Never got to see him fi ish the lift as he scratched on bench (second lift) so I used his north half numbers. Kid was in the 165 class [161 lbs bodyweight]and is a 16 test old this year totalling a completely natural 1600 total now weighing 170.

I was never an amazing athlete, but I could(and most men that work out can) bench more than double my body weight. When I weighed 180 I was benching 385, when I weighed 220 I was at 455. Now I weigh 230 and I doubt I could bench 350 anymore. I may not have all the strength that came along with lifting heavy ass weight, but I do have all the pain.

@@alia4682 Not sure what standard you’re speaking of. I said most men that go to the gym can lift double their body weight. If it’s above your “standard” then I would simply say it doesn’t matter if you can or not, because if you worked for it, im confident you could. If it’s below your “standard” then I would say that’s fine because it’s not like I ever wanted to lift double my body weight, I just wanted to build muscle and it just so happened that when I did, that’s the weight I was comfortable lifting.

@@4hunnid_k After a quick Google search to see where in your ass you pulled that 1/1000 stat out of. Come to find out that it is “an extremely rough guesstimate” posted by a redditor…. So there is that. There are 2 qualifying statements. They must be men, and they must actively go to the gym. Most people that are both men and regularly go to the gym outside of January 1st -January 20ish can lift double their body weight.

Not ngl we had a junior at RPB back in ‘10 that came in and benched 415, that’s all he had to do 😂😂😂 fam got the starting job. Shit I was benching 275 max at 180, mind you I’m 6ft too. My squat was around his my max squat was 415. I don’t dead lift fuck that, that’s going to fuck up your joints eventually. Now I’m not playing ball anymore I can’t do nun of that lmao maybe the bench press. I played WR though so those numbers are actually pretty decent. He’s a RB so I’m actually not surprised.
