Ajmer is a land of rich history and religion. In the heart of the city lies the Government Museum in Naya Bazar Ajmer also known as Ajmer Mughal Fort. The most recent advancement to the museum is the state film archives. The film library was established in the year 1952 by Audiovisual Education Office Ajmer, Karawan but it has taken it's true shape now. The state film archive is a beautifully designed concept that takes an individual down the memory lane of Indian Cinema, INR volumes, and educational films. The common sitting area is designed with posters of pioneers of Indian cinema, freedom fighters, and role models of the various field ever walked on the earth. It is the only film library in Rajasthan and one of the only two such libraries in India.
The film library has more than 4000 16mm celluloid films and documentaries preserved with them. A total of around 2500 films are still working. Most of them are now converted into digital films. It has films of pre and post-independence. Some films or documentaries are produced by film division and different renowned producers and some are developed by the Department of Education, Rajasthan.
The state film archive has two theatres one in the lower section and the other in the upper section with a capacity of 16 people in each theatre. A total of around 1200 have been digitalized which can be played in theatres and on a computer for an individual too. The theatre in the upper section is for the films run on a 16mm projector. The 16mm celluloid films are preserved at low temperatures and with proper chemicals in a separate room to preserve them from further damage. State Film Archive has recently been inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner, Aarushi Malik, Ajmer, Neeraj Tripathi, Superintendent, Archaeology and Museum, Ajmer Circle, and Dr. Shri Gopal Bhaheti on 15th August 2020. It has now officially been opened for the general public.

Great coverage of the film library Deepak bhaiya. This film library, in fact, was developed to this greatness by the then audio-visual officer Mr. B. P. Sharma who passed away in 1975. Now that it has been digitalized, its the rebirth of this library. Kudos to all those who havedone this.
