I don't particularly like the rascal flatts version with the exception of the young actress in the film clip. She made it. Those gut wrenching screams and crying initially totally makes you feel like it really happened to her and the end when she said "I saw you ". And a recent fan to state of mine because of their version of the song. Its too bad this lead singer is no longer the one in newer music creations. He has this unique tone and sound to his voice that I love. Not bagging the new lead vocalist btw.

As good as the cover is, I feel like the emotion you feel more in this video is because though there is still some ambiguity, it's much less ambiguous than Rascal Flatt's video. You sort of see more of the accident in this one than you do in RF's video. Sure, you see the guy rolling his truck in that one, but in this one, you have the background of two people that very clearly cared a lot about each other, and it's a more mature sort of romance. It's harder to identify with the people in RF's because they're a young couple who happen to have an unforeseen pregnancy, followed by the tragedy of the guy dying. But you never really get to feel that emotion, because there really isn't much sense in what exactly caused him to roll his truck. Take "Highway Don't Care" for a great example. You see the girl bend down to grab her charger. You see her lose control of the car. You see how she dies. That's how this video is. But RF's video just leaves much too open to interpretation. You get the feelings from the girl's side, with her screaming at her dad that it's his fault, that "YOU MADE HIM LEAVE! I HATE YOU! SAY IT, SAY YOU HATE HIM! SAY IT! YOU MADE HIM LEAVE! why..? LIAR!" But you never truly feel both sides. You don't feel the guy's pain. Whereas in this video, you see everything leading up to it. You see the infidelity. You see the lies and pain on both sides. And you see what she feels inside "I'm sorry..." before she comes to after the accident and sees he's gone. Sorry, I just kinda had a moment where I was looking between the two, and though I prefer RF's original, I appreciate the artistry in this video, and can agree that they also did a great job, regardless of preference.

Not considering the video, I feel more regret and generally more emotions in this cover. I think the heavier style helped in expressing in the case of this particular song.
