Nursing Home Staffing - The White House announces new rules for minimum staffing at nursing homes. Some Republicans are already leading a push to block the rules. But Congressman Lloyd Doggett has a different view. The Austin Democrat tells us why he believes the rules don’t do enough to protect patients.

All you have to do is look at the salaries of the CEOs and the CFOs of these nursing homes to see that they certainly can afford to do better on staffing but they choose to put that in their pocket and live large instead ……at the expense of our elderly. Not only are elderly because I used to be a staff member in a nursing home and the stress was unbelievable because you weren’t able to give the care you wanted to. I also don’t agree that the nurses aren’t being paid enough because they are the highest paying nurses in the country because nobody wants to work there but you end up getting the dregs of the Earth for your CNA‘s and unskilled nurses aids because THEY are not paid enough. This is where you end up with patience being abused because those CNA‘s are the hardest working and they have to do the most physically taxing jobs for the patient. The RN just documents all day, the LVN just passes out meds all day, the CNA is actually the one doing hands-on patient care. They certainly need a pay rise. What the RNs and the LVN’s need are more RNs and LPNs!! They need more staff not more money

While I agree that many ceo's are overpaid, it really is insignificant. Here's an example According to Business Insider, the salary of Target CEO Brian Cornell earned a total compensation of $17.6 million in 2022 going into 2023. How many employees does Target have 2024? 415,000 Take away the ceo's $17.6 million salary and divide it among the 415, 000 employees and each would get..$42.41 415,000 employees x $42.42= $17, 604,300 Hardly life changing

Unbelievable that a very basic amount of care is a standard that is so hard to meet. When they get new residents they fluff it up thos is a compassionate caring place and thry cant do that tiny bit of care? Imagine then how your relatives are being treated right now.
