Good work Dave. To hell with the knockers who sling crap from the cheap seats, it takes guts & credibility to make the early calls. Anyone can regurgitate the bleeding obvious & talent scouts opinions (cough....Cal Twomey.......cough). Xavier Lindsay strikes me a bit as this years Caleb Windsor. He could debut early & spring out of the blocks. I also see a fair bit of Paul Curtis in Isaac Kako.
thanks for your content, early days on the draft but top 10-15 seems to be generally the same across most commentators on this subject. I love your videos of all talent that you post, very honest of their good & traits for improvement!! I watch them contantly to see the talent coming thru! Very much a Vic draft this year but looking forward to the top end talent that have been injured showing themselves.
I think you mean the Country vs WA game as Metro and Country haven't played yet. All he needs to do is keep performing. He's a little bit undersized and lacks some wow factor to his game but if keeps putting up the numbers people will start to pay attention.
Really enjoyed that, excellent analysis. For the first time for many years I’m going to watch the National Championships. I’m intrigued to see how some of the injured players go - Lalor, O’Sullivan, Allan and Draper. And at the end of the championships who is the best rated KPPs.
Solid takes here alot to like in this draft pool especially with having some solid names out of the top 20 and you are right any one from 10 to 25 could make a push for a top 10 pick. Watched some of the SA vs Allies game great comeback but wow Sid Draper goes hard at it his second attempts are fantastic he gains alot of speed and can hit a target. Nicholls and Howes are going to be good development Key position players like most of them now a days they have a stint in the ruck SA will have a tough time against Vic Metro and a fit Vic Country but second is about right. Can't wait to see the player highlights from all the games have a good one mate.
Thanks mate. I think Sid is still struggling with game fitness after his injury layoff. He had a huge first quarter, and had 15 touches to half time before fading out of it and finishing with 19. I expect that he'll keep getting better as the champs progress.
I like them both, but they do have issues with their games. Ben is big for a mid, super competitive, good at stoppage, finds heaps of the footy. He moves decently well and navigates traffic with poise but he's not express pace. His major issue is that he's one of the worst kicks in the draft pool, stemming from what seems to be a weird technique. Kicking skills are one of the more fixable flaws for a prospect so I expect he'll be fine long term, but its a real issue at the moment. Lucas is a smooth outside operator, largely plays wing at this stage. High footy IQ and works hard to present for his teammates or fold back to create +1 in defense like a good winger should. Seems a more natural and fluid kick than Ben, but he can be a bit inconsistent with it from what I've seen. I imagine Ben will get picked first. Could be late first round, but more likely second round. Lucas won't be too far behind.
Champion of the people when it comes to draft content I say. Really insightful and helps us as fans of the draft and overall game to know who is the up and coming players to the comp. Keep up the great work!
Great work mate. Comprehensive and a pure radio voice to boot. Ta for the shout. Fair call on the WA boys. They are coming from a long way back. Luke Urquhart had a star game for WA against Claremont Reserves/seniors yesterday which is a relief. He will compete for sure at the champs. TBH he probably isn't the advertised 190 or 183.....so let's go 186.5cm. Do more of these specials mate.
@@footystuffYT No need for another Urquhart vid mate with WA's first match coming up. But a player you should check this week is William Akec (EP) #39. He made the WA state 16's in 2022 and is highly thought of. Of perhaps Ugandan heritage, maybe South Sudanese, injuries have barely seen him play since until now and what a comeback this week for EP. His colts debut believe it or not. I'm elevating him into the 2024 WA top 10-20 in the next update tomorrow. A big burly, calm left foot defender. Wouldn't like to get in his path. Instantly likeable.
Watched the whole video, still deliberating over whether or not the voice is AI. Great stuff regardless, I thought Murphy Reid could've been in the top 20
There are other watchers that are even more bullish on the talls than I am. I think there's potential for teams to fill whatever needs they have on their list if they're prepared to be flexible in trading picks.
I would say no if I were to guess. There will be a few father sons and academy selections in the first round so the eagles second pick will end up back a few spots to the mid 20s. I reckon he'll be gone by then, but it'll depend on his champs form.
It's a mediocre draft. I know this is more of a Victorian top 10 than a true top 10 post champs but I really can't see Moraes as a top ten pick in any draft. Levi Ashcroft is slower and less dynamic than his brother and he's not going to be a forward at any level of football. He's a weak pick 4 if that's where a bid came.
Mediocre? Not sure we can say that with any certainty yet. A lot of players are coming from a long way back and making a good case. In it's own way this is one of the most interesting draft years because there are so many unknowns. (At least for now) I've seen two WA players who I think will go close to getting drafted....pretty much for the first time this week and they aren't even in the squad.
