I mean, I can absolutely believe people being upset about getting spoiled. Not about the "reveal" but the moment itself. The whole "I blamed another to save myself. _I_ did it. _I_ killed Joshua" bit.

Just feedback: I have some trouble hearing Sly. He seems quieter than Happy. Happy comes across clearly.

This was an awkward one MrHappy. Not sure if sly is just quiet but alot of gaps and funny pauses.

I didn't know about FFXVI until it was about to release and I was planning to wait until PC release to play it. None of my algorithms ever recommended anything about FFXVI, I literally knew nothing about the game other than very basic stuff from the trailer. Yes, I was spoiled by the collaboration. Personally, I really don't care, since I trust the devs to not put a major plot twist in a collaboration for everyone to see, which led me to assume that the spoiler was only the beginning of FFXVI's story. BUT I can totally see how other people might be annoyed that they were spoiled from this, and saying it's impossible just isn't true.

Honestly I can see how a lot of people might be upset about being spoiled. What constitutes a spoiler for you is not the same as for someone else, and not everyone lives in the same Square Enix bubble that many of us do so it's quite possible for newcomers to be unaware of the XVI story line.

On spoilers that aren't actually spoilers. When somebody I know first got to Ishgard I was talking about Edmont's narration of the scene and they were like "Who's Edmont" and I was like "Oh oops sorry you'll meet him in like 5 minutes and find out who he is" and apparently that was a VERY serious spoiler and I should've been more careful. Like that is on a level of mundanity even beyond the thing in the XVI collab.

TBF ... I kinda expected what was 'spoiled' as what happened... and I haven't even played the game yet, waiting on a PC release. (And I also had skipped out on FFXVI content... I did the same with Hogwarts Legacy and I did for FF16)

I'm with Happy 100 percent. Finishing Leap of faith and moonfire Faire tower is the best spectator content. I climb that tower for days while that event is up.

It's crazy how far removed streamers are from normal people. How could somebody possibly not have seen a trailer for a video game, indeed.

Don't recall if it was this podcast or the prior one, but on the discussion of removing macros for high-end crafting. I can agree for the final product, the HQ gear piece, sure make that a quasi-master recipe. But for all the individual pieces of cloth and ingot, if I had to focus and manually craft each one, I would probably have a stress heart-attack. On the other hand, I also wouldn't want an HQ instant auto-complete, since a lot of the value of cloth/ingots over the raw materials is the minute you have spend crafting each piece. They could go the WoW route I suppose, where it's auto-complete, but takes a minute for your character to cast/craft it.

on spoilers - i mostly avoid spoilers because i don't use social media, and most of my youtube feed is related to non-gaming interests. i also live in south america and square likes to pretend we don't exist down here, so no trailers or posters to be found.

I would like precicision dodge..it would be awful though. I do want them to fix dashes to update your position more frequently :|

A lot of people are discussing the fact that Clive looks like he is way higher res than everyone else... and yeah... The graphical rework is being added into the game in what? two, three months? If they had to make a custom model for him than of course they're going to future proof his model, why have to make the same model twice? Edit: On the topic of the precision dodge, I actually did like how it feel. Maybe have it not negated all damage for one hit and have it as spam able, but I like the idea of having a reactive button you press and if you time it right you get a free ogcd. Like it would be cool as like a 10% damage reduction like Third Eye or something.

My PC specs are low and I looked for Clive not really knowing if I was looking for a person or just anything notable in general during the night. I'm pretty sure where he was was like the second area I looked, but everything looked fuzzy with all the crystal lights

Dude lives and breathes FF every single day and wonders how anyone could have possibly gone without being spolied on the FF16 stuff. Come on, man. Don't or can't play the demo and don't watch the trailers. Easy. Not everyone has FF content pumped into their veins on a minute by minute basis. And YoshiP was on record multiple times saying that the FF16 event wouldn't have any spoliers so it's not exactly rocket science to figure that people who hadn't experienced any of FF16 yet thought they'd be safe. For the record, I have played FF16 and still feel the content they included in the event spoiled some pretty major moments in the game to the point where as soon as I finished the event myself I made sure to tell me friends to avoid the cutscenes/dialogue if they wanted to remain unspoiled.. Yes, they were relatively early game and, yes, they were things you probably would have at least speculated on if you did see the early trailers and/or played the demo. But they are still big reveals even within the content of the larger story.

Microsoft Coins for XIV subs exclusively on Xbox just reminds me that if there's one thing i want to get fucking regulated, it's banning premium currency bullshit. The tactic of never giving you even amounts for stuff to buy something and creating confusion on exactly how much you're spending and making it so confusing people will just spend money to remove the problem? I hate all of it, and there's no excuse for it that isn’t fueled by greed.

Just going to throw out there ~11 minutes in, I'm one of the people who have been able to completely avoid anything 16 related. Same with FF7 Rebirth, I've been avoiding searching anything relating to the two, If I glimpse a video on RU-vid relating to it I 3 Dots "Do not recommend this channel" so I don't get any content from that channel popping up again. I mute and scroll windows on Twitch if I see an ad come up too. As for the demo, I'm not spending ~£500 on a PS5 to play a demo of a game (and then buy the game on the console) when I've already got a £1000+ PC setup for gaming, I'll wait patiently. Not even a "PC > Console" argument in there, just not worth spending that much money for a single game to me. So I will admit to being a bit irked by the "oh come on this is stuff we all knew already" attitudes. All that said, I'm annoyed by a few things in the event. One being that we got the crossover BEFORE getting FF16 released on PC so we could avoid this being an issue in the first place for people who don't have a PS5. Another being that they used an unskippable cinematic in the duty which contained (what I would consider) spoilers to the story. The only way to avoid it is to get up and walk away for however long you THINK the cutscene will play for. That in particular was poorly handled imo. I also feel that the revelations in the quest text is pretty spoilery too, but at least if you just want the glam and other rewards you could skip the text without reading it so that's less annoying to me than the other two.

I am a master at unintentionally avoiding anything I don't want to see for video games on the internet. I didn't even know they were making Jedi survivor as a video game. Until the week it came out. And that's only because my friend shared something about it and said hey this game's coming out. I still know nothing about God of war Ragnarok because I'm hoping it comes to PC

I didn't play FF16 yet and magically avoided all promo material aside from the announcement trailer. (The "I don't care about this video/post" options on RU-vid/Twitter work wonders). I didn't, or still don't, know the scope of the game, so the revelation in the 16 Promo felt pretty heavy for a crossover event. I wasn't upset because it "spoiled" me, just surprised because this sounds like this would have been an entire character arc. So if you don't know where the game is headed or the scope of the story, it is absolutely fair to assume that this could be a spoiler.

I managed to avoid all spoilers for Horizon Forbidden West before the PC release. Things I did, just avoid the sub reddit and more or less not search it at all for like 2 years waiting for the PC port.

Its incredibly easy to avoid spoliers. That said i played the event expecting it to have something. I didnt expect it to be that though

the censorship is not AI, its a list, and a poorly implemented filter, had this same problem with Phantasy Star Online back in the day

I haven't listen to state of the realm in a long time, but last times I did listen to it Sly was supper quiet. Is that just the way he talks? because I up my volume all the way up on my headphones and Happy's voice is too loud but I still can barely hear Sly.

To be fair, I can see why people would complain about spoilers and I can't fault them for it. No one knows when square is going to bring the game to PC because they don't really seem to care that much. Your choice as a PC player is skip the crossover and wait 2 - 3 years for the event to resurface or do it and hope that CBU3 is aware that the largest population of 14 is on a platform that they couldn't be bothered to release the game on. As Happy said, the first act of 16 is absolutely spoiled in unskippable dialogue. I wasn't spoiled since I wasn't going to wait for 16 and may not even buy it when it comes out so I didn't bother with avoiding the story but if I hadn't watched streams, I would have been spoiled and been pretty annoyed.

Sly giving excuses for scummy predatory practices with virtual currency... not being able to purchase just what you need for the sub is a big problem, does not matter that its "standard practice"

100% agree with the 16 spoiler stuff. I've never wanted to be an asshole and REALLY spoil the game for people than when I saw them start whining about 16 spoilers from this event.

If a story hinges on its twist, it's a shit narrative. You should be able to know the twist and still enjoy the story. How you get there is more important than being surprised for a minute.

The "spoiler" is based on what SE publicly put out prior to the game's release. People can cry all they want, SE used the safest information they could from their point of view, as they already laid it all out before. People could have skipped the cutscenes and ignored the text, so they preserve their experience while still getting the crossover goodies.

On the topic of 16; I have been avoiding it, not because I'm trying to save the secret for myself, but because I find 16 too Tolkien-esque for my tastes in FF, so 16 doesn't interest me in the slightest. EVEN I figured that out with watching NOTHING about it other than trailers "Ifrit killed my brother" "This is Clive our hero with SPECIFICALLY FIRE BASED POWERS" I'll pretend to be surprised.

I really don't understand the filter thing for xbox. The game already has a profanity filter. Just let them handle it, they've been doing it for 10 years. Wow I didn't know about the 2 subs thing. That's really crappy.

I just want a proper pet system to SMN and SCH. EW SMN is just a tragedy. SCH is a bit on track. It just needs more interaction with the pets... i dunno.. make pet take damage and draw enmity. Also remove demi-summon aka Seraph. Also increase pet movement speed or add an ACN gcd spell which increases pet movespeed. Also, Torgal pet glamour please
