State of the Union: President Reagan's State of the Union Speech - 2/6/85 

This speech was also on his 74th birthday- February 6th. In the struggling Democratic response to this speech, a panel of Democrats was moderated by young Bill Clinton of all people who said "By the way, Mr. President- Happy Birthday tonight."

This was the America I remember.....and hold on to.

For those in despair witnessing freedom erode under the rule of the Marxist community organizer, this State of the Union speech can give us hope that freedom flourished under President Reagan and can again if we seek it. God blessed this nation with this man as a our leader.

There are some who say that growth initiative must await final action on deficit reduction, well the best way to reduce deficits is through economic growth. The best way to reduce government spending is to reducing the need for spending by increased prosperity.

stonesour025 that's because the vice president is the president of the Senate. During SOTU, the President of the United States addresses the legislative branch, therefore the Vice President of the U.S. is there acting in the capacity of president of the Senate, not vice president of the U.S.
