This whole thing quite literally looks like an HBO or Netflix dramedy show. Like something so surreal, it'd be impossible to happen in real life. Like _Parks and Recreation._ But she's a real person and this (possibly) is real life. Seems like the season finale of _SuperMayor_ is coming up though, with the cliffhanger of Heynard finally going to prison for all the wacky adventures and reckless weekly escapades she's caused over the past two seasons.
Their options were literally her or the incumbent mayor that was also investigated for corruption. I don't think Nate has done a good enough job explaining how she became mayor. Everyone in the comments seems to be of the impression Dolton voted for her over "non black" candidates because she was black. Everyone that ran was black. The town is 90% black. This was not a case of voting for someone just because they are black. Most of the current board supported Henyard for election. Why? Because when Henyard was a trustee she was going after the previous mayor and holding him to account in his shady dealings. How were they supposed to know the person that was a champion of the people and rooting out corruption with the previous mayor was going to turn around and be 100 times WORSE as mayor.
The fact this individual and all the rest of those cronies aren't locked up, awaiting trial with no bail due flight risk under Organized Crime laws means there is ZERO justice in this country, every minute they aren't locked up and have access to those government buildings means tbey can destroy evidence of their crimes. If anyone else was doing all this and so much evidence existed, if the amount of civil rights violations against all the journalists who have gone there and been approached and intimidated by the police thugs there had occured would land anyone else, especially if they looked like Boss Hog, in custody and awaiting a speedy trial and conviction and at least a decade in prison before the possibility of parole, all assets siezed and liquidated to repay the the citizens who were victimized by this systemic crime.

I don't think holding two offices at the same time is a bad thing necessarily depending on what those offices are. However, no one on a TOWNSHIP board should be getting paid more than 200k a year. That is crazy to me. Even 100k to a township can be a lot of money so Thorton should also be looking at the other board members and their salaries to see how overpaid they are. I'm sure some of those funds would be a lot more useful going somewhere else.
