That was a beast !!! Ever make the mistake of jamming your finger down the gullet of one of them big chubs? I tried to poke a hook out of one last summer and slipped of the hook and down its throat....Wamo! they got a pair of snake fangs down deep in their esophagus. Hurt like the dickens and got infected.
Last time I fished moose head The group of 3 I was wish caught 10 salmon and 30 plus brookies. Along with countless lake trout. Best ice fishing ever but man was it cold. -30 - 40 with windchill. This was in 2010 i believe.
The rivers around the lake are full of 1000's of big purple heads like that early spring during run.. They wear us out in a big way when fly fishing but I love to catch a few anyways.. The big ones will put a hell of a bend in a 5wt I'm sure we've let plenty of 5lb+ fish go..
