All that money spent on exhaust systems,aftermarket performance parts, installation fees just to have to take it all off cause of a state ref, makes no sense
I am so glad that I watched your video. I just got a ticket for my "modified" exhaust, but really it's stock with muffler and resonator delete. I still have my cats, 1 resonator and 1 muffler. The officer didn't do a sound decibel test on me, so I got curious and did it myself. 19 1/2 inches away and 45 degrees away from the tip of the exhaust, test idle, 2.5k rpm, and 3k rpm. And guess what? The highest db that my car got up to was 92.3db. Now since you said they are supposed to do a sound test on the spot in the state of CA, I could now use that in the court. There’s another section code If you’re in Cali that says if you modify ANYTHING to your exhaust even something as small as moving a cat or resonator to another location its against the law

I would just plate my car in Arizona so they can’t pull you over for bs. Back in the early 2000 I would take my show car to Cali, and I had 3 different cops drive past and u turn on me for no front plate and quickly u turn when they saw my plates not from Cali.
YOOO can’t wait to go to court. This officer that pulled me over didn’t even give me an exact reason on why he gave me a state reff. He just told me “call the number on the ticket and make an appointment with them to find out why you got a state reff” At the end of the day I’m assuming it’s because my truck was too low
Finally got state reffed today .. pulled over by a gas station Cop said my exhaust was too loud without proving it like you said. Have z1 cold air intake in which the company sent out a sticker saying they were carb legal w/ serial numbers (i had in my wallet) when showing the sticker to the cop he said it did not matter since not on the vehicle & got state reffed just like that. Debating on paying the ticket or getting fyourticket
@senpaii5176 yo sorry for the late reply, I ended up paying the ticket like a normal ticket, you can check online how much it is it was around 600$ or you can go with fyourticket & they can help you but the car wont be drivable for a long time.. I sold the z after paying the ticket ...

I get the part where they dropped the state ref which is great, but you also mentioned they dropped the illegal exhaust also and instead just a fixer ticker, what’s the difference between exhaust ticket and fixer ticket for exhaust? Isn’t it the same thing?
Hey so do you reccomend waiting for court date? The cop also never tested me for a decibel test he just straight handed me a ticket he didnt even mentioned it was a State reffed till i read it the next day i still did put my stock exhaust back so can you give me some tips? very stress about it
State refs are really fix it tickets, if you feel like your guilty and/or are, then go get it fixed. If you feel like you have a valid argument why the ticket is invalid, and plan to fight it wait for the court date before touching the car. If you have a stock exhaust and given a state ref, it wouldnt make sense to get it fixed so it doesnt make sense to even attempting going though the possess of state refs, hyundai elantra n is a great example of this, someone went to get the stock exhaust 'repaired' and dealership said its stock so they couldnt do anything, which worked against the hyundai owner. Proving it in court before doing any other actions is the effective way to do it, only if your exhaust is stock, or 'reasonably' modified (check local laws for that)
My situation is I got pull over for loud exhaust that wasn't even loud and officer didn't do decibels test and wrote me a ticket with ref.... in need of help if can.

bro i just got state reffed for a carb legal intake i had the sticker and the cop didnt care. im so pissed rn. im going to try to fight it tho i have the whole thing on dash cam he took two seconds to look under my hood saw an open element filter and wrote me a ticket. i have the whole thing on dash cam explaining i have a carb sticker and he tried saying any open element filter without an air box that isnt enclosed cant be carb legal yet the injen intake for the n54 has no box and has a carb sticker. im going to hire an attorney and try and have it dismissed. like i said whole thing is on dash cam. the stop was also unlawful too. didnt cite a reason for the stop, was only ever behind me and when he stopped me walked around saw i had no front plate and it shows on the ticket thats the reason for the stop. going to be filing a complaint as well.

Hey bro so did you state ref the car first before the court date. I have a date coming up idk if to test it first and then go or not test it but the cop didn’t read the decibels on car
OK two days ago I got pulled over and the cop Gave me a ticket for state ref any he wrote modified exhaust and intake he didn’t write the DB’s on the ticket should I wait for my court date in June and fight it?

@@lucian7182 this is true for any state with reasonable cause. For example if a cop pulls you over for speeding and squealing tires (which would be a ticket for obsessive acceleration) they may inspect your tires and issue a ticket for bald tires. If you have a headlight out they may inspect all exterior lights and issue a ticket for more than a headlight out.
All these dudes that are at meets get pulled over in non legal cars and then cry about it. It was much different when I was his age we took our lumps… Do go to the meets if you don’t want to get jacked. 😂
