Being from the UK, the music gave these areas a mythical feel. Same with Queensbridge. But like you said these places are just regular neighbourhoods with regular people. Power of music I guess. Still fascinating though

As someone from Los Angeles and who knows really nothing about NYC it always tripped me out that the Wu-Tang were from Staten Island. From everything I've heard Staten Island is basically white suburbs with like one little tiny percentage of a black area. So for them to come from there and make such a huge impact is kind of mind-blowing to me

Staten native here let me just say the north shore of Staten was a different world- south shore is all white and north shore is predominantly black and Hispanic. Shout out to the Wu - early 2000’s they were still representing big in the borough. Shout out to Mariners Harbor- Forest Ave!

Jonathan Mannion (the photographer) made a slight error. He said that the Wu-Tang Clan cover photo for XXL (in which the Clan were holding Olympic gold medals) was a cover that he shot after ODB passed away. That is incorrect. That cover was in late 2001 for the upcoming Wu-Tang Clan album (Iron Flag) that December. ODB was still alive at that time. The reason he didn’t make the cover was because he was incarcerated at the time. ODB passed away in November 13, 2004.

I was raised on 36 Chambers and every solo project that came out from Wu !!! got even tattoo with the quote from C.R.E.A.M,each block house in my area had painted Wu Tang logo on their walls,All that happen in a small town of Poland more less 25 years ago !!! Im sure they didnt realize that back then they where world famous !!!
