My relative bothered to read the information with the statins that she was prescribed but didn't want to take. They stated that they shouldn't be prescribed to over 70's ... she is 77. My take is that these drugs are designed to cause issues and that your cholesterol level can increase and decrease when your body is repairing itself... it will be working hard if you're consuming high carbs and have insulin resistance and /or diabetes.... thus the cholesterol level is higher but that level is nothing to do with heart disease... that's caused by insulin resistance and high sugar products.

At 76 I am way too old to contend with the effects of cholesterol deficiency, which is what most statin side effects are. We NEED cholesterol and getting our levels too low can be disastrous.

my father in law was almost labotomised by the cocktail of drugs he got put on. ironically when he was he was admitted to hospital, he got taken off all of them; he reverted to his old self (everyone thought he had dementia) and we got him back briefly before he died (he was 85). the thing is, all of the drugs are tested singly and no one really knows what the interactions are between 2 drugs let alone 4, 5, 6 etc - the belt and braces approach covers the doctor from claims of negligence and Big Pharma laughs all the way to the bank !

All too common of an experience. One viewer commented on an earlier video that many patients in hospice actually recover after being taken off medications.

A very relevant topic that doesn't get enough discussion. Thanks for doing your part to bring it a wee bit into the light. Too much of our culture tends to treat old folks as expendable so having this kind of information for them and / or their care givers to consider in their treatment and risk plans is "right on".

Thanks for your support! Yes, I really believe polypharmacy (with statins often a component of it) is a major underrecognized problem with the elderly. I see it even in my older siblings.

My mom was on Statins for about 9 years without getting any substantial problems ,but 4 months ago she started feeling generally unwell,then getting shortness of breath, dizziness and feeling really tired all the time ,and zero energy. My mom is 88 years old now , slim and fit for her years .She became a shadow of her former self. After many many doctor and hospital visits and tests they found nothing wrong . They did not however look at her medication. So i took it upon myself to research her meds . Long story short i took her off statins and within a week she improved,now 4 months on she is her old self again. This proves to me Long term use can out of the blue , become a massive problem !

I too had been on Statins since 2011 after suffering a major Heart attack/Cardiac arrest. I didn't have many problems apart from aches and pains in my lower legs and forearms.So I too quit the statins 3 months ago ,no more aching limbs and I feel so much better in myself too

It took years before I had symptoms, and many more before I realized it could be the statins, and then many more before I decided enough was enough. I feel much better now.

The medical establishment is getting more EVIL each passing day. For a myriad of reasons, doctors cannot divorce themselves from their Establishment. People like you are doing your own research to guard your own health. Majority of people just depend on EVIL by listening to their doctors.

😅No,statins are not a good idea and not much Rx is good at all. I cut out all of them over two years ago and at 77 am plugging along getting better and stronger. It takes a while to survive modern medicine and these docs who play God.

I know it is an unpopular opinion on youtube, but same for me with supplements. I got caught up in the hype and started taking this and that. Not only are they hard on the budget, I felt terrible. My digestive system was all out of whack, in one direction or the other. Now the only supplement I take is Vit d, which blood test shows is low, only 1000iu though, not extremely. I feel great and everything is flowing smoothly.

It takes research efforts into nutrition to survive modern medicine as regards metabolic syndrome created by big food, big pharma and big agri with the government on board. Peter Attier said that it's the food pyramid that's killing people in droves for the MONEY ($$$ bottom line of corporations )

Thanks Russ for the video. Don't statins increase the risk for T2D? That might be because people might think that if I take a statin, I can eat what I want.

I have a video on the connection to T2D; I believe statins can raise hba1c across the board, but of course new cases of T2D will only occur in people who were close to the edge to begin with. Good point about the "I can eat what I want" mentality. I don't know how much that would impact it, but it is a good example of an association though not a cause.

The root cause of heart attack & stroke is metabolic dysfunction, and type 2 diabetes is a severe form. With 71% of our calories being carbohydrates, and being told to eat 5-6 times a day; we never give a chance for insulin levels to subside; and we decimate our _vascular endothelial glycocalyx_ and never give it a chance to recover.
@mystatinfreelife

Absolutely true. And as we age we metabolize carbohydrates more poorly, as a result of that lifetime of 71% of calories we were convinced was proper eating. I have reduced carbs to less than 10% of calories.

Having friends in their late 60s and 70s, it’s so hard not to alienate them with my statins views. Any suggestions?
@mystatinfreelife
@mystatinfreelife 3 месяца назад
I'd suggest exposing them, if possible, to videos by or including Ken Berry, Rob Cywes, Aseem Mulhotra, Paul Mason, Beatrice Golomb, Rita Redberg, Ford Brewer, etc. They have the credentials that I don't, being actual medical doctors. Or ask them to consider watching "Statin Nation" which is available on youtube. That way, it's not your views per se, but alternate viewpoints from medical professionals.

@@mystatinfreelife Really helpful thx. It’s so easy for many to just trust their doctor’s advice. I’ve been saving relevant videos as I come across them. Will check out the names in your list and Statin Nation.
