Yo Stavi has a really solid grasp on psychology he made really grounded points that hit without being offensive or judgmental he came from a true place of concern and he knew when to console and when to be harsh my dude is gonna be an awesome dad
He does have a solid take. What I don't get is his food addiction which is almost certainly rooted in psychological disorder. And he's railing against mindless over consumption. There's a serious disconnect there.
If he wasn't trying to be delicate he'd say bert, you're a narcissist and basically insufferable and anything but funny and you should probably stop trying to reach for something that you won't get and shouldn't even be close to in the first place
It's so endearing to hear him say he's blown past his career goals and has not yet reached his fairly modest artistic goal, despite being on by far the best comedy podcast ever, IMO.
Wiser ? Yes. Gayer ? Bert and Tom had an entire two bear ep dedicated to which male celebrities they would want to bang , in detail including how it would go down, so there’s that.
I've had this conversation with leaders at an accounting firm. People in the leadership can't understand why the younger people are not driven like they are/were. And I said, look at your life with more money. Look at his life with less but more time. Who is happier? No one wants to be you. They can only get to the top by paying too much.
Rich people compromising their quality of life just to make more money has always been confusing to me. Like when a star athlete (who's already super rich) signs with a shitty team just to make more money. I don't get it.
Bert reminds me of Dane Cook's early years. He was great at self-promotion. He was full of energy that could be infectious to a crowd. And he had virtually no content. Dane at least told some jokes (some of which were stolen) and he was good-looking enough to be the romantic lead in a few movies, but mostly he just bounced around on the stage. Dane's career wasn't sustainable. To say Bert's career is unsustainable is charitable. It's just a question of which implodes first: his career or his liver?
Bert’s not a deep guy. He has no outside interests. He’s not quick or bright. Doesn’t do anything to broaden himself or grow. It’s all surface. He’s not as famous as he thinks he is. Dolt
@@grant5603there’s lots of rich a** holes in the world. Bert’s succeeds at this. He’s a white, elitist that buys his way into being the center of attention. If Stavros finds balance between achieving a healthy body AND. a healthy mind…he will be a great comedy legend. He gets it. He knows that being a rich man doesn’t make you great man.
found his stuff as a teen in 8th grade, loved him for years and still do. is he bad at comedy? no but he also doesn’t make me die laughing or anything like that anymore. still tho, i see everyone’s criticism and problems with him and his approach to comedy and especially when he talks about it; god forbid a “pedestrian”talk about comedy. but anyway i totally get that feeling you have
I wish more people were like Stavros. My wife and I have always talked about if we won the lottery. We would pay off our debt and buy a home in cash. We would like to do some homesteading. Have a garden and some animals. I'd like to just keep going to college and have a part time job. I'd love to have a food truck that doubles as a soup kitchen. We would keep $2-3m to invest in our futures and invest some for each one of our kids. Donate the rest of the money and enjoy spending time with our kids. That's my American dream.
I think Stavros was on point, and with what he said it’s not only comedians it’s everyone in the US everyone wants more and more and more, but I’d rather get to a point where I don’t have to worry about bills and I can save and just live my life
The more I learn about this Stavros fella, the more I care for the guy. Bert just seems like a guy who shouldn't have gotten famous and should be a welder in Kentucky. Great vid brotha
I watched half of this yesterday! First time in probably a year I've watched 2 bears and my god. I was reminded why I don't watch thay podcast anymore. Both Bert and Tom are so out of touch it's unbelievable. Both of them humble brag literally nonstop about everything. I love Stavros which is why I watched. He did great actually trying to pull them down to Earth. Tom and Bert both grew up rich and Stavros grew up with immigrants and it was glaringly obvious in this podcast. Seriously tho listen to anything Bert or Tom says. They literally dont tell normal stories. Every single story by either of them is something about how many arena tickets they sell, celebrities they know or how genius they are in marketing and sales.
When Bert dies people will say "isn't it great Bert is not around to interrupt us with an obviously fake story while we all have to listen and pretend we believe him so he doesn't get offended". We all know fully loaded tour comedians are making fun of bert behind his back. The fully loaded tour is the N64 and Bert is the kid no one really wants to hang with.
I really appreciate your perspective on Bert. He's got some bad qualities but some channels on RU-vid just continually bash him to the point of being a broken record.
I’m 42 and one of those folks you said you’re jealous of for getting to watch Norm do weekend update live. We used to record every episode on VHS and watch it over and over. His deadpan delivery was so good, at my age I thought it was all real news and it soaked into my skin. I love your videos and your love for norm. That being said, I love comedy, am not in the comedy world so ignore my thoughts if I’m ignorant but I see you being diplomatic here, as you absolutely should working in stand-up and I recommend you focus your videos where you build up your heroes and then spend the rest of your energy on writing more standup. Just a thought of positive intentions towards you, buddy. I really love your comedy analysis of why comedians are good, the anatomy of jokes and of course, the norm videos and inserts. I just don’t want you to create haters in your industry. Oh, who put this soap box under my feet? Damn it.
@@drhodesco I appreciate it man as I’m an admirer of Norm as well. And I totally agree with you, that’s why I try to microdose the negativity in my content, but even in a topic like this I think I talked about it pretty fairly without being overly negative. I think it was pretty objective and usually I stick to more positive content.
The simple reality that most people are not really happy while they're grinding to some sense of a state of stability is something I can assure you most parents are not translating well to their kids. This is a problem.
I'm one of the few Bert fans and haven't really heard Stavi. I did listen to this episode and really became a fan instantly. His take is spot on. Bert has said manny times, he will never quit drinking. He will maintain his health and lifestyle to accommodate his drinking. Livers good, hearts good...so he will keep on going.
Comedy is a lot like music. Yeah a band or stand up can sell out arenas but they'd sound better and the audience can see you without a jumbo screen in a smaller venue space.
I know close to nothing about Bert but whenever you say "big fella" it sounds like a Norm reference that I don't know, and I can only think of George Costanza and the marine biology whale story.
Interesting that the old TV with the RU-vid clip cut into it is used to symbolize the video is referenced and possibly old, but in a few generations people wont even have the reference experience of using an old tv. It will be like looking at a feather pen and say how did they live an experience with such.
Stop calling him a comedian !!! He has never been funny !!! He got completely destroyed by a little kid with 4 words ( tell me a joke ) Bert couldn't think of 1 single thing to say 🤷🏻♂️ classic coat tail rider
Hats off to Stavros for making sense. But let’s be honest neither of these dudes actually do any work. And I’m sure they both are cool dudes and they’re fun to watch occasionally, but neither of them produce anything valuable or even really memorable.
Stavros' stand up is pretty weak but his podcast is fun and almost free of any comedy talk. He's just a great guy to hang out with. He's the one who told Bert how lame "pedestrian brain" is. Who's more of a pedestrian than Bert? Can't even tell a joke on the spot. Most annoying people can and he's even dumber than them 😂
They make a living from their businesses. What weird definition of work do you have? Is it only work of it's back breaking labor or some office drone gig? Work for yourself for a change
I disagree, and agree with Bert on, he created it because "no one else would invite him". I had the same problem and it is true, in the entertainment industry everybody tries to get to the top and you only get there climbing over others. I was an MC and due to my militaire duty I had to pauze and nobody would let me back in (while I had 2 bangers on my name) So I started to do everything myself (became a dj in the meanwhile), and ended up being the organizer of over 100 underground parties with " famous guest djs" and I got booked on big events, but as soon as I quit organizing parties, nobody called me, because I had no value to them anymore. That's the industry. I think Bert is insufferable but on that point he was right. Bert doesn't have the jokes to pull it off, but he is an entertainer and his online fame gets the attention needed to pull it off. Bert is unique in what he is doing.
I liked Bert the FIRST time I heard The Machine, as I speak Russian and love that culture. But that was the FIRST time. After the third time and watching more of his stuff, he's meh.
Bert's the type of person who needs to keep doing stuff, putting on shows, moving onto the next thing and making money because if he stays still and actually takes time to reflect on his life he might realize he's an self-centered alcoholic who's not that funny but he's well known and hangs out with funny people. Nobody becomes a lifelong alcoholic without dealing with some issues Bert just seems like an expert at compartmentalizing and burying his issues.
When Stavros left Cumtown I thought he was crazy to leave behind a podcast that was making $60k a month but now I can see he doesn't really care too much about the money.
I don't like stand up with more than 250 seats. Large groups of people are why I don't do concerts. When you do an arena for comedy, you get the kind of people that want to see material they already know. I want to see comics working new stuff. Bert can absolutely keep this up, because casual fans spend money for comedy juke box shows. "Feeebird!" Stav is one of the sharpest dudes in the game.
Holy smokes I’m not used to hearing one of these videos coming from a super nice guy! Haha I always feel bad for Bert because of the hardcore hate and this was a nice take on things
Dude, thank you! I’m trying to be as polite as I can because I feel like Bert gets a lot of hate and I don’t hate him. I’m glad it didn’t come across as a hate video - I really just wanted to diagnose an issue that I think Bert suffers from
@@TheComedyHistorian no doubt man, and now that you mention it, Stavvy is the man for that. he’s got that wisdom coming from somewhere 😂 I saw a comment the other day where someone said Stavros is an Ancient Greek transported to modern times, he’s a theologian, tolerant and also super horny (something like that) 😂
I would check out the two Bears one cave episode whatever it was Bert Kreischer and Louie CK, recovered a similar conversation about the whole Arena and theatre venue thing.
Many Americans continually want more. Comedians, shareholders, employees, and everyone in between. The things that make you happy are internal - not glory or money. Great video Nate.
I mean, I honestly put Bert in the same category as Carrot Top or old Bobcat or dare I say even Dice, because yeah they’re stand up comedians, but it’s like a specialty act because they’re famous for that one thing people go see them for. For him to even compare or put himself in the same room as these other guys he talks to is mind blowing to me. IMO he’s not doing the same thing up there. He’s the “WOOHOO PARTY!! MACHINE GUY!! CATCHPHRASE CATCHPHRASE!! HYPERBOLIC STATEMENT ABOUT HIS HORRIBLE BODY!!” And then it’s over. The only person that can honestly, truly sit him down and get him to dial back that ego to ground level is the exact same guy that cranked his ego up to 10 and accidentally broke the knob, but still force fed him to everyone until he got disgustingly famous….Rogan. But we know that’ll never happen. As long as there’s the Black Rifle coffee dads who wear traeger smoker shirts, and beer brand hats, he’ll have his dedicated crowd, like a Stanhope v2
Having joe as a friend probably effects Bert even more so. I hope Stavros's next special is good. the one he has on Netflix was surprisingly bad. His crowd work and podcasting is hilarious
Hopefully this comes out right. I am a massive fan of Stavy. And it's clear what his politics are. He's not shy about them. And what he's saying is how most liberal people are. Which isn't crazy. But people on all sides twist and warp things to fit a specific agenda. The extremes. When in reality. What Stavy says and believes is how most Americans think. Sadly, People are afraid to admit it because they will be labeled a "socialist/communist" and other buzzwords.
I feel like Bert’s problem isn’t working so hard, it’s why he does it, he does it so he can play hard but that’s his problem, if he stopped drinking and work was his vice that’d be fine, as an addict he probably needs that, but he NEEDS to stop drinking
This guy filling arenas is proof we live in the age of idiocracy! Complete lack of substance as a comedian and person-so tired of him on every podcast and comedy related channel!
Alcoholism is dangerous. Drinking brings false confidence, and I’ve notice that it only brings you up for a short term. It ruins the way you think and the way you portray emotions. (An ex alcoholic) success is a stress reliever when the bottle is your ego.
my nonprofessional opinion: for his own sake, he would likely benefit from logging off for two years, maybe even from a PR perspective, when an actor or politician starts showing up in everything, people get burned out, if you record everything you do and every thought you have, lots of people do, i think a person can become knowable to an extent, and, while some people like to watch stuff in the background that is knowable “the office” “friends” “Seinfeld”, people like to learn about or watch, other things eventually I think one thing not talked about potentially enough in the podcaster/internet/celebrity package, I think people and fans, who have either a parasocial relationship, or just genuinely care about a celebrity/or are at least intrigued, genuinely want our comics/podcasters, to be happy (speaking for myself) podcasts are a backstage pass, ostensibly, to the green room behind the scenes, illuminating, either a genuine/embellished/concocted/or some hybrid, form of real interaction in just listening to analysis channels, it would seem to me, Bert has half of his brain (need for external validation), holding the other half of his brain (melancholic and regretful), hostage, to continue posting
Bert’s entire life has been about getting attention. He isn’t a comedian because he has a genuine love for comedy, he is a comedian because it’s an avenue to being the center of focus in a crowded room. I don’t like Bert’s comedy, I genuine think he should take a long family vacation somewhere secluded.
Damn stavi dropping some facts here 😮 the middle class does exist tho but it’s shrinking fast and hoarding money now because we all feel what’s coming without being able to name it
I’ve had some videos blow up that I never expected, so I just trust the process and stay patient. As long as I keep making each video a little better I’ll be where I want to be soon
He's a vulnerable narcissist (armchair evaluation). He has to be the main character, has to have the attention. I think a lot of entertainers do what they do to try to fill that unfillable hole. He is probably figuring that stuff out now but the alcohol is what he needs to stop. You only get one liver and his must be pissed off by now.
Bert pretends like he was once poor and made it when in reality his daddy bought and paid for his life.. sure hes got some talent in the sense he can sell the same fake story over and over and over and over again.. but still, if you have loaded parents that can put you through college till ur almost 30, its kinda easy to 'make it' even if they buy you a tire shop or whatever gets you rich for no reason beyond your own capabilities
Bert has no interest in self-improvement; he’s a grade-A narcissist who has zero emotional intelligence and sees no reason to change himself. He just wants the whole world to think he’s great, when really all he does is remind people of what happened in the 80’s with comedy. He’s more of a punchline now, the way Gallagher and Dice were.
Here i go again getting blocked in the comment sections.. Anyway, here we have another channel popping up selling negativity (hate channel) only this time though he is disguising the hate part by saying "i don't hate Bert" very interesting new angle..
Best part of my life was living in my truck, working a full time job, while starting my own business. I wouldn’t call myself homeless, more “driven” to save for my business not having to worry about paying rent. Stress free not having to worry about paying 1500 + just to stay in a home that keeeps you comfortably and less driven. Eye on the prize. Berts driven. Best of luck to him❤
Stav is a complete hypocrite. He was already very wealthy and successful before he sold out then blew up and destroyed his relationship with his close friends.
