September can be unpredictable with temperatures and UV levels typically very variable. Look out for opportunistic algae that could bloom on one day, but crash on the next!
Coming towards the end of the growing season, the organic load from the feed and fish waste will have built up over the previous few months. Ravenous fish looking to build up energy for the winter, aerobic bacterial processes and the warm water temperatures make for a high biological demand!
You may have got comfortable with healthy oxygen readings the past few months, but it's a mistake to make that a reason to stop regular monitoring! So, don't get caught out!
Soon water temperatures will decline more consistently, and oxygen will become far more stable, but until then, stay vigilant and capitalise on the best part of the growing season!
Any questions, we're happy to help!
