Staying at the WORST Rated Resort in Las Vegas 🤮

Rio Las Vegas is not what it used to be.
Come with me as I share my eerie experience at this abandoned resort. I show everything from the dirty worn out room to the empty masquerade village. This is a last look before the property gets a full remodel. Hopefully we get to enjoy the Rio how it once was long ago.

For someone that stayed at the Rio during the Marnell owned years it is sad to see what it has become. Hopefully Dreamscape can restore it to its former self. Thank you for the video.

My first time in Vegas (1995) we hit the Rio Carnival World Buffet and I remember it was amazing. The hotel and casino was also great. We went back 10 years later and it had really went downhill then. The Buffet was completely different and none of the same foods that brought us back there, were there. I wasn't impressed at all and haven't been back to the Rio since 2005. Hitting Vegas again in April... not planning on a Rio visit this time either. New Subscriber here! Love your Videos! Very, very sad. I used to love the Rio in the 90s. The food was always great, everyone was super friendly and the rooms were huge. Nice work on the video (and the decision not to spend the night)!

I was about ready to go for a morning walk when I saw this come up on my screen. I definitely had to stop and watch this must see update. You can always count on Caesar's to not maintain a property. What has happened at the Rio is disgraceful. I don't know if there is enough money to rehab this property. These new owners sure have their work cut out for them. You did them a huge favor by adding some class to the hotel with the mirror clip. Amazing work! Thanks for the honest feedback on the Rio.

In fairness, the Dreamscape CEO has acknowledged they're not intending to compete with the Wynns and Palazzos, but more the approachable luxury demographic (like Planet Hollywood, New York New York and Sahara). So with that crucial context, I think they have just enough capital for the renovations to make it like the off-Strip Planet Hollywood or Sahara: which are honestly two decent resorts in their own right. =) As for Caesars ruining resorts, it has only gotten worse under Eldorado's ownership. I pretty much always skip Caesars Palace when visiting Vegas because it has gone precipitously downhill over the past five years: especially in terms of customer service. I'll take a resort like Mandalay Bay or Sahara that's on an extreme end of the Strip but has great customer service over one in a centralized location but with abysmal customer service ANY day all day long.

I honestly feel infuriated with Harrah's (now Caesar's Entertainment) complete contempt and lack of care in the Rio. It is the single most shameful treatment of a mega-resort I've ever seen in Vegas, and I always compare it to an abusive relationship in which the Rio suffered PTSD in result of. 😢 Which is wholeheartedly making me root for Marnell and Dreamscape to turn everything around so I can see the Rio enjoy a heartwarming comeback story and ride off into the sunset the way it always deserved to: gracefully. I'll definitely be among the first ones there when the renovations are fully complete, and I'm absolutely rooting for the Rio in spite of all the shameful negligence toward it.

Thanks for the review. It’s important to know what properties are bad as well as good. It’s too far away from the strip to be a good choice. I was there 10 years ago, and it was tired and worn out back then. It must be really awful now. One good thing, is they have a very cool rooftop bar. I wonder if renovation is enough , and maybe they should just tear it down instead. I hope the renovation goes well. You never want to see a formerly nice property go downhill. The fact you left before you would stay there speaks volumes! It’s so funny that your $20 gambling win paid for the hotel!

Its sad what has become of some of these premier at one time casinos. I stayed here in 2007 and at the time it was still a very vibrant and relevant casino. I stayed there last weekend. Rooms were nowhere near $15, it was $126 plus another $44 per night resort fee. With taxes, it averaged $190/night. The trouble started almost immediately. I was in the Masquerade Tower which has four elevators. Too bad only only of them was functional. That meant a long line and several minutes to access your room as all the guest in a 50 story tower had one elevator to get up or down. The room was huge and it was clean. It appears it has been renovated. No complaint there. It was a bummer that the Voodoo Lounge is now closed along with most of the other things in the resort such as the pool. I sat at the lobby bar one night, and there was three customers. The bar tenders were pleasant, and they even admitted the place was all but dead. The fact the building is across the freeway from the strip means lots of cab/UBER rides or some sketchy walks through homeless areas. I used the room for sleeping only and spent most of my time on the strip or at Allegiant Stadium or the Sphere. I only selected this property because I thought I wanted to avoid the chaos created by the Formula 1 course. It wasn't worth it.

I stayed at the OYO hotel in Las Vegas 11/3-4/23. DO NOT STAY HERE!----I don't give this hotel no stars. This was the worst hotel experience I have every had. First off we were told check-in will be at 3PM, so we drove from Long Beach, Ca and when we attempted to check-in at 12:00 to see if we can do an early check-in, they told us our room will not be available until 5:00 PM. Imagine driving for about 5 hours and being told that you have to wait 5 more hours for your room. Eventually we got to get our room. Then as we were walking up to the elevator, we were told their was only one elevator working at the time. The hotel have over 19 floors, so imagine how long we had to wait IN LINE to get to our room. The elevators were packed. We get to our room and first of all there was mildew in the showers, and stains in the toilet, it did not come with a coffee maker, nor a microwave or kitchenette for the price we paid. We asked to get another room because of the mildew or some type of compensation for our troubles. They declined us but my sister got an upgrade from the 12th floor to the 16th. They got a microwave but the rooms all that for the price. The employees were very ghetto and rude. When we did leave, I called to have a cart brought up to put our things in the car, but they said "there is not enough staff". Oh yeah we were supposed to originally stay for 3 days, but we added another day. They told us we can only book online, which we did. But when it came to the Sunday, they locked us out the room and told us we had to put another deposit. I will never recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. I am very disappointed and it messed up my only romantic weekend with my husband. Oh yeah no complimentary breakfast.
