Creating treasures for the kiddos. Documenting memories. A modified chart would be wonderful for your children to develop their goal setting and organizational skills. This would be a great teaching class. Love this video.

Yes a notebook would work better than what I use... backs of envelopes, scratch paper...etc... 😊

Thanks so much Jill! I like to use a sharpie for column titles and lines. It comes off with alcohol but does not erase with your finger or a cloth when you are changing what’s in the column. ❤❤❤

I live in Alaska so we have really short growing seasons. I have been growing a garden for 20 years but next season I will be growing on a little bit bigger property than I’m used to. I think it’s time to get organized and spend this winter getting ready for the next season to be productive and efficient. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤

I’ve always been jealous of highly organized people! 😂 I have good intentions in the notebook department, and do have some notes but most of the plan is in my head. Very frustrating for those helping me in the garden. We purchased a nursery business back in the 1990’s and buried in some junk in the office was a folder with planting notes. What varieties, when to plant and how much. That was so beneficial when growing to sell. Having an even more detailed list about your home garden would be just as helpful.

Thank you. Oh my goodness I’m so unorganized. I did start a garden journal and I did draw a little map that no one else can understand but me 😂❤.

I’m a paper person as well. I like to use composition books. I always stock up in back to school.They are on sale great for prices , usually 50 cents then. Really a great way to go back and look at what works and wasn’t done

Last spring I did a spreadsheet with too many columns! I also made notes in a planner. The spreadsheet was more flexible in adapting updating and more details. The hard copy was easier to access anywhere. It ended up being overkill. It does help when thinking through next planting season. I really need to simplify how much to log and what I really need to log. Thanks for sharing. Food for thought. (Nice pun...😉). Isn't it nice being settled after all that moving last summer! Such a nice sense going into a new planting season. 💙💜💚💛😉

💚 Great organization tips, Jill. This is an area in which I would love to improve and know it would be very beneficial. Why do we put up such resistance? ...LoL 😂 💚

Hello from Minnesota Jill. Thank you for what you share and I so appreciate it. Many times I find myself with a notebook writing down so that I remember.

This video gave me the push I needed to get myself organized! First was a good clean up of the potting shed and next will be my seed inventory. I’ve already got a spreadsheet similar to your board with all my dates to get things started now so I’m better prepared for this spring! Happy planning from Kentucky!

that's pretty usefull. But why don't you use some digital device like a pc , a tablet or a smartphone, i'm pretty sure there are lot of apps that allow you to keep trace of your gardening

Well she did say she liked having it written down in a notebook for her kids to be able to look at it and reminisce in the future.
@Junkinsally

She also said she enjoyed the nostalgia of the notebook. Moreover, if self sufficiency is a goal, having paper back ups for digital information is a must.
