I know what you mean. It would have been so much better - and more realistic, in my opinion - if instead of Kyle being the mystery lover, Ste had been the one, and the only reason Ste ended up being held on remand, was his past, his motive - and because he couldn`t provide an alibi for when Amy was killed. He having been with Ryan at the time. Ste fearing he wouldn`t be believed if he said as much, or worse, that he would make Ryan a suspect too, kept that information to himself when being arrested. Ryan, on the other hand, got someone he had arrested for dealing drugs, and turned informant, Kyle, to provide him a false alibi for the time he spent with Ste. So when Ste finally got tired of jail and told the police he had been with Ryan, wasn`t believed, cause they had the testimony from Kyle, which provided Ryan with an alibi. Luckily not long after James should have surprised all the viewers, focusing more on his professional career, than on getting revenge over Ste for having lost him JP, by getting Ste found not guilty by proving Armstrong fed Ste all the information needed to make Ste`s confession appear genuine. Ste should have been released, and expected him and Ryan to be open about their relationship. But because of the issue with Ryan`s father, Ryan isn`t able to. Maybe he even continues to jump into bed with any woman offering, just to convince himself he isn`t gay? Shortly after the suspended Armstrong should have been arrested for Amy`s murder, after the new investigation he is neither in charge of, nor allowed anywhere near, discovers his fingerprints on odd places inside Amy and Ryan`s home - places where a hidden tiny video camera would have been out of sight. The police therefore form the theory that Armstrong had been stalking Amy electronically just as he did Leela and Cindy, and that Amy likely interrupted Armstrong when he was attempting to remove his surveillance equipment, after having discovered from the same equipment, Ryan and Amy was leaving for the US the next day, and Armstrong therefore needed to retrieve his equipment before the house was cleared out and washed - when likely the cameras would be discovered. In short we could have had Ste and Ryan together for almost a full year, the Amy Barnes murder cleared up as soon as Kierron Richardson was back from paternity leave - and Harry could have met Kyle, instead of holding on to a relationship that only had caused him misery and hardship.

+Tvjunkieful12 you should write for this show because your storyline sounds more interesting and logical than the mess these writers have written for ste and ryans storylines lately.

Daniel Nicks Very kind of you to say so, but it is Hollyoaks own story line I have used, so I cant rightfully take any credit for it. All I did was have Ryan not be the killer, and had Ste - instead of Kyle - as Ryan`s mystery lover, which freed Kyle for Harry, and by making Kyle an informant, he could continue to be Ryan`s alibi. Everything else, Ste being fed his confession by Armstrong, Armstrong stalking Amy and more, is from Hollyoaks` own story line. I`ve just added a few fingerprints in odd places, so there would be conclusive evidence placing Armstrong on the crime scene, and which also strongly suggested he would have had illegal surveillance installed inside the house - otherwise, had he just been visiting, his fingerprints wouldn`t have been found in such strange locations. But I fully agree it would have made better logical sense to have Armstrong be the killer, strike everything to do with Harry causing Amy a head injury and Ryan being the killer; and instead just let James shine for a moment, shifting the suspicion from his client, Ste, and onto the lead investigator on the case, Armstrong, during the cross examination of the latter, by revealing through the recordings from the interview with Ste, every single fact Ste knew about how Amy had been killed, he had been fed by Armstrong. Unless Armstrong himself killed Amy, why should he have been so keen to frame Ste, he even showed him crime scenes photos and revealed details of a nature the police normally are restrictive with, so they will be able to separate true confessions from false ones? It makes no sense he would have done that, had he truly believed Ste to be guilty. The only reason he would have needed to provide all those details about the killing, would have been if he knew for a fact Ste was innocent - and therefore didn`t know anything about how Amy died. So either Armstrong himself would have had to have been Amy`s killer, or he knew who had killed her - and wanted to protect that person. But since Ryan at one point in the show confronted Armstrong, wanting to know if he killed Amy, and Armstrong pleadingly begged Ryan to believe he didn`t - why would he have done that, if he knew Ryan was the killer? He would just have told him he knew Ryan had killed Amy, and he himself risked his career framing Ste to protect Ryan, so a little more appreciation wouldn`t go a miss. Wouldn`t he? It is as if the killer originally was meant to have been Armstrong, but for whatever reason Hollyoaks then changed their mind, made it Ryan instead, and simply forgot - or hoped people wouldn`t remember, or realize the significance of - the scene where Ryan confronted Armstrong with whether Armstrong killed Amy. But because of that scene, clearly Armstrong didn`t know Ryan was Amy`s killer - which leaves he himself as the only logical killer, and also the reason why he needed to frame Ste (cause had the case not been solved fairly quickly, it could have been taken away from him, and a different police detective would have replaced him as lead investigator). Armstrong needed a scapegoat to protect himself, that is the only logical motive remaining for why he felt a need to frame Ste. Making Ryan the killer, and Harry to have knocked her unconscious, has only made a weak story line ridiculously poor - and not to mention endlessly long. Neither of the two should have been linked to Amy`s death in any way. Whether you view the story line from a logical point of view, a legal one, forensic or forensic medical one, the story line is full of flaws so bizarre one can wonder if all the researchers were off sick when this story line was created. We have seen fresh blood planted on shoes that had been submerged in water for 4 months, and by the defendant`s lawyer non the less. Hacked material introduced as evidence in court. A shoe BOX being used as evidence to how a partial footprint could be tied to the accused (it is impossible to compare a print to a box - it requires a sole). There has just been one thing more strange than the other, but which in sum totally has ruined the entire story line, in my opinion. But I have detailed all of that so often in comments and replies like this before, I see no need to bore you with it all again.

I hope both happens. I kind of think starry has been dead for awhile. it would be ridiculous for harry and ste to forgive each other and get together after all this. and ryan will most likely be gone by the end of this month. hopefully.

Daniel Nicks hope so but I still (sorry for bad English) want Harry in the show and when he is going back Ste will be Ste and he will try to be with him. And Harry always loved Ste more so sadly they can come back together for some time

They cant bring Starry back together after all this, can they? I think they either will have to get a new character and cast member in to become Harry`s next boyfriend, or turn one of the other assumed to be straight characters, closer to Harry`s, age gay. Cause neither James (because of his history of extorting Harry and con Tony), nor Scott seems plausible as boyfriend material for Harry. So that leaves either 40 year old Kyle or Ste. Personally I think Kyle and Harry, judging by their personalities, have the best chance of finding happiness together of all the gay characters which currently are in Hollyoaks. But Brody or Zack - even Joel - , if one of them were turned, likely would work too. As personalities they are not too dissimilar, either to Harry himself or his beloved Ste. Still, now that Ryan soon will be gone (Duncan James is off to tour with Blue), Hollyoaks might have to get more than one new gay character in, otherwise Ste`s only options (cause I definitely don`t see him with Scott) would be James or Kyle. With Ste and James` past, realistically that would leave Kyle. So regardless how you turn and twist this, with Ryan gone, Hollyoaks will have to turn gay, or get in a as a newcomer, at least one male character - otherwise the gay romances would be too predictable - or not believable at all.

+Tvjunkieful12 it should probably be ollie lukes son. he seems around harrys age. I think harry is 18 or 19 now and ollie is 15 or 16. getting kind of sick of harry hooking up with these 40 year old men. starting to think he needs people his own age because james and ste have too much drama going on right now. still like harry and james together. oh and ste needs to be single and focus on his kids and sister for once in his life. he hooks up with every guy he can find. wish they would bring brendan back since ryan is finally leaving because kyle is not a good option for ste.

But poor Harry has such an unhappy and traumatic past with James. With Kyle he would be much more likely of finding happiness, since those two went after respectively Ste and Ryan with the same heart on their sleeves all in approach. Proving both that they had passion, and were loyal towards the man they fell for. Still saving Ryan shouldn`t be difficult. The fact he lives in a tiny village where there are many gay and lesbian characters, but still is so afraid of being seen as gay he was willing to kill, seriously hurt and kidnap to keep his secret, proves his fear to be irrational - leaving the opportunity for an insanity plea, claiming Ryan cannot be held responsible for his criminal acts, cause he was temporarily insane when he committed them. Ryan would be sent to a mental institution, where he would have been given therapy, and when he was well again, he would be let back into society. But no longer have imposed a danger. Likely also would have been openly gay by that time.
