Today, I am showing a basic 3-phase full bridge rectifier circuit that I made using a hoverboard hub motor generator, with diodes from an old projector circuit board.
This was slated to be driven by a wind turbine that I built out of recycled scrap metal and bicycle parts.
Whether that happens or not, I wanted to share with you how to convert 3-phase AC into DC for charging batteries off the grid.
If you're interested, there are loads of other videos showing how wave forms look before and after rectification.
Hope this helps you as we try to figure out how to live more sustainably on our home planet.

Hey I want to thank you for the information and upclose discription of how that works. Seems like nowadays we don't get all that much sound even in California. Redundancy is the way with solar anyway thank you very much awesome I have plenty of these motors. And now I have plenty of time. I think if we just keep putting it out there sharing it it all comes back in some way.

that is fine. Now if you want to really generate energy; Test the motor under load vs RPM. Then RPM vs Voltage and Current, so you can really plot a power curve vs RPM. The second step is to calculate the wind turbine (blades, diameter, etc) to the wind speed where the wind turbine is going to be installed, so you can match the RPM of the wind turbine in the Cp with a good power point of your motor.

hi dan.i have overboard motor and bike wheels.so will any diode do.i have Arduino kit with some diodes in.i have a 24volt bike wheel bit heavy though not sure if can spin from wind as want make wind turbine.the radiator fan blade looks better.

Hello, can you explain more on why the turbine will not be able to spin that hub motor?

You will have to overcome the electro motive force (EMF) resistance which increases linearly with current. This could prevent the wind turbine from ever starting spinning especially at low wind speeds. Some type of mechanical or electrical clutch is needed that will not connect the power lines until the motor reaches a set speed, and ramps up the allowed current based on feedback of the RPM of the windmill

am working on a similar hoverboard wheel to make handcrank generator ... to charge 12V car battery ... as a backup ..just in case ... ..but its hard to get even 10 volts output on normal handcrank speed/rpm ....... Can you tell me how much volts you get when you spin yours at handcrank speed ..?? I plan to use 3 isolator transformer + rectifier ...to add up voltage output of that 3 phase winding .. What do u think ?

The motor is around 1000rpm for 36v so if you can do 500rpm~10 rotation per second then you'll probably be fine

These would be better for pedal power, but you could make a simple power transmission to make it spin quicker.

I have no idea, they should be sized for the amperage you want to pull through them

I think you would be better off with two separate rectifier to avoid overloading the amp limit and the problems with motor AC synchronizing or out of sync

It depends on your application, voltage, current, power, heat dissipation, etc.

Run the motor from DC? The same way all electric vehicles do it, with 3 sets of capacitors and mosfet transistors with speed controller IC chips. Basically, a "motor controller".

Looks like you lost 1/2 of your potential power output since you did not use full wave bridge rectifiers. I am working on this myself.

Yeah you're right I have solar and I have win 3500 watts of solar 1000 watt of wind solar gives me power 8 to 10 hours a day wind gives me power 24 hours a day now tell me which is better

I'd go with the one with less moving parts for the sake of longevity but that's awesome that you've diversified your energy with renewables! I'd love to see more of your system

I tried lol but yeah it was a piece of junk from the get go, I fixed it a few times before just scrapping it, it was a great learning experience though
