Steady state cardio kinda has a bad reputation. Not everybody believes it is evil, jacks up your cortisol or eats away at your muscle mass. In fact, in this capsule, Chris explains why it is not all evil. Listen now to learn more.

Cool video. I tried doing heavy weight training, HIIT and intermittent fasting for months and didn't lose any body fat (I did gain more muscle). Then I did research on leaner continents (Eurasia countries) and learned that while they don't go to the gym more often than americans, they do walk MUCH more than obese countries. Walking, combined with portion management, is whats finally cutting my weight down.

Hiit an tabata are for anaerobic power training which strengths your ❤. For more caloric burn steady state cardio. I combine both both have pros and cons

Just my 2 cents, not trying offend, iam no expert. I Dont know where hitt came from, back in 80s and 90s we all worked out, most btwn 30 to 60 minutes. 5 days a week in average or 4 days. Shrugging shoulders. IDK, maybe I think hitt came from folks who dont wanna workout, for longer sessions? Hard to get extra time, long work hours, kids, etc. Want it quick and done with. I will admit I tried hitt sessions, 3 x. And each time I ended up injuring myself, and couldn't workout at all. My last trying it 3 yrs ago, in middle of session, I had to stop, my head was pounding, like never before, things got real scary, for 3 minutes, I was with phone near. Ready to call 911. After that, no thanks. I will stick completely, with my steady state to moderate intensity cardio, .I've been working out since 15, iam now in my 40s.

I understand complete where you are coming from. Indeed, I think that HIIT was invented for people that really did not want to be in the gym but want to get it over with. Especially when you have never been doing high intensity exercises or hard cardio, you should not directly get involved in HIIT. It will get you in a state which you have described. Yo have to build it up slowly. I have been pretty much in shape all my file. I turned 50 last year. But your body changes, I cannot lift like I was in my 20-ies. It will cause injury and eventually keep me out of the gym. You need to listen to your body and train in a way that when you come out of the gym you say to yourself "I have done some good today". Now at 50 I lower weight but do my sets back-to-back. My program: 1. 20 minutes back-to-back metabolic body weigh exercises (Squat jumps - mountain climbers - burpees - running up stairs- ...) 2. Two exercises for abs back-to-back with 30 seconds rest in between, 4 times 3. 20 minutes of various supersets of dumbbell, barbell and bodyweight exercises 4. Muscle of they day: either back, peck or shoulders. This is where I go as heavy as possible 5. Arm muscle of the day, either biceps or triceps 6. Cool down I do this training at 7AM before breakfast, so in a fasted state Man, the cup of coffee when I come home... I usually stay fasted until lunchtime. I am vegan... Happy training!

@@umbroraban1075 I think there's a lot of confusion about what exactly is considered to be a proper HIIT training... For example, can a Tabata workout be called HIIT? Just because you read everywhere that HIIT is not necesarily just doing a series of sprints with shorter or longer resting periods but it can be any type of interval training on different cardio equipment or even lunges, burpees or whatever that increases heart rate... Does it depend on the time of working vs resting periods or heart rate or lactic acid build up? If I take the stairs to the top floor, stopping regularly for some rest with my heart rate going up to 180 bpm, is that a HIIT (FOR ME)?
