In the Basque country, where many trace their names back to time immemorial, family is key. In Blood Lines, Irene explores how Basques pass down food traditions over generations in the region’s rural heartland. At the Urdapilleta farm, she’ll get her body clock going when she gets to cuddle baby piglets (all is forgotten when she tries the bacon). There’s also the Zapiain sidreria or cider house, with its five-hundred-year history, and the Casa Julian steakhouse. Prepare to shed a tear of joy with Irene as she chomps her way through two pounds of the biggest, baddest chuleta steak she’s ever tasted.

I lived in Boise, ID for 20 years, where there is a large Basque community. I fell in love their food at first bite. Basque chorizo is the best in the world, and nobody can tell me different!

I saw part of this video on Facebook and I know Tolosa is where an ancestor of mine is from. This video in turn, led me to discovering what the Basque Country was and opened a whole new world for me. Thanks for making great content. Also I want one of those steaks.

Watching this in english is both sad and uplifting. It's great to see Basque cuisine being presented in a way that can reach the majority of the world, but as a Spanish speaking person id rather watch the show completely in Spanish.

It's not expensive considering you get 1kg of Perfect steak. I think that especially with meat it is okay for it to be a bit more expensive if it is produced the right way. People often forget the value behind not only the work that goes into a good piece of meat but also the value of the animal itself. I'm not trying to offend you, just stating my opinion :)

How rude it is at the very beginning of this video, standing in the middle of Euskal Tolosa, keep on shouting 'Welcome to sunny Spain' multiple times and keep using phrases like 'Spanish rain' and 'Spain weather' all across this series while it is literally focusing on Basque country and its cuisine.
