James, first and foremost, I have watched a lot of your other cooking videos and I truly love watching them. You are such a nice relaxed guy and you do not babble about mindless stuff like some others that I have seen. That being said, I hope that you do not mind some constructive pointers. I have noticed that your Ninja Grill videos are not the same quality as your other videos. I feel that it is probably due to the fact that you are still learning how to use it. For example, in today's video you put in a time for the cook. You do not use the time function when using the temperature probe. It finishes cooking once it hits the predetermined temperature. In addition, you are supposed to take the steak out of the grill, with the thermometer still in, while it rests. That is why the Ninja Grill said "get food" and did not go directly into rest mode. You will still be able to track the steak's temperature and when it hits your desired true temperature it is good to go. By leaving the food inside the grill, and especially with the top closed, you are still adding heat and cooking the meat; not resting it; which is why you witnessed the temperature continue to climb so quickly. Also, you should advise your viewers to put in the temperature probe in their meat before putting their meat in the grill. This will give them more time to strategically place it in the best spot and avoid accidentally burning themselves or feeling rushed just to put it in. I am sure with more practice, and a review of the enclosed materials that came with the Ninja Grill, you will be back making the same quality videos as your Power Pro 10-in-1 videos. I am truly looking forward to more of your videos.
I absolutely love constructive criticism! You have to take it and learn to get better for sure! I appreciate the comment and tips and will be more diligent going forward! I need more cooks on it for sure! Thanks again! :)
Dude good instruction, I been cooking steak on there for a bit but hadn't thought to let it rest for a couple minutes. This method made 3 of the best steaks yet
Steak was one of the first things we cooked last week when we got our smart xl! I just cooked hamburgers tonight and both turned out perfect using the thermometer.
Thank you I cooked mine. I wish I could post a picture of it came up beautifully… It even has a perfect grill lines…. My puppies are at my heels begging for my dinner now. Thank you thank you.
Resting on the grill is incorrect. It should be removed from the grill. That is why you have juices running everywhere before you even cut into it. The juices belong IN the steak. Resting is a cooling process that lets the fibers relax and reabsorb / hold the juices. Leaving it on the grill does not even let the steak temperature drop low enough to be considered rested, in fact it is still cooking the steak. Still good looking steaks.
Our grass fed sirloin turned out perfect. I have been have trouble getting things medium-rare for my hubby but he said they were perfect medium rare. Thanks.
