So Helpful...Thanks telling us to snipe the "Rib" part under the tail is the Ultimate Trick!!! The meat removed so easy and didn't fall apart.

Broilers don't usually have temperature settings. It usually just says, "BROIL."

They do make cooking and pastry brushes if you choose not to use a home depot brush. Most grocery stores and places like awl-mart will carry them in their baking aisle.

Great comment - thanks for you post! I agree with you: using regular scissors to cut the lobster tail tends to trash them a bit, or at least make them a bit dull. I have a pair of kitchen shears that I use. They are slightly serrated, and get the job done. Cheers, B.

Hi - thanks for the comment. I film, talk, and cook at the same time. It's not scripted or rehearsed and there are no re-takes, so it's as real as it gets. I'm not nervous -- I just have a lot going on when I make the videos. Cheers, B.

I had to readjust 1 tail in a toaster oven for 20 minutes. I failed at my first try at makin' it look like yours, it curled up to one side when it cooked, but it was still decious! Will try again tomorrow or next day.

I did it & it turned out great! If you do it with warm water lobster,mid rack due to,over cooking in warm water lobster will kill the flavor & make it tough.

If your broiler has a temperature setting, set it to 500 degrees F.

Thanks for the vid. I've done lobster before but didn't lift it out of the shell like that and they really cooked better that way. I didn't have a brush so I cut the meat and put some butter in the slit and that seemed to work out. Wish there was a special tool for spliting the tail cause it tends to ruin the scissors.

Any suggestions regarding the the final interior temperature of the finished lobster? Lobster tail is an expensive and delicate piece of flesh and I don't want to mess it up. A casual visual observation is not enough for me. Thanks for you informative video and your reply.

Looks great and thanks for the tip on cutting the bottom of the tail to get the meat out. One thing I noticed is you're using a lot of clarified butter for just a dab on each tail and putting the brush back in the butter is getting raw lobster into your butter pan. I suggest spooning it on the tails with the brush dipped only once so you don't contaminate the butter.

I think on every video I've ever seen, there has to be a smart ass.... Ya, cross contamination is a biggie! Many folks who don't cook much could get sick if they don't know about raw food and other cooking materials/ cutting boards, etc. Glad you brought it up Blake!

Is it the lighting, or is there gray/clear on the sides & down centers? Wondering if later determined slightly undercooked at only 5 mins. If so, I hope they will update the video to give viewers the correct cooking time on this. Undercooked shellfish, if you haven't had it, is pretty nasty. Even so, I plan to try this technique tonight, though I might lower my rack so as to cook a tad longer to cook through,, while not allowing the tops to become too browned too fast or drying out.

I use silicone brushes with rubber bristles, safe to 400 and very sanitary.

How do you figure? The lobster intestine was completely removed starting at 3:25. You can clearly see that all of the tails has the intestines cleaned out prior to cooking. B.

Marvelous! I am going to use this method next time I cook lobster. I always wondered how that was done. I have never had Risoto. What does that taste like? Thank you for posting

Risotto is a short grain rice usually cooked with onions in a chicken or vegetable stock. It is more starchy than traditional rice so it comes out creamy, somewhat like slow cooked grits. It is softer than traditional rice so it is less "chewy" than the rice you are probably used to. It has the consistency similar to pasta.

snakebitmgee Some people are more wrapped up in what they have to say, rather than listening to someone's question. I bought a small tub of risotto and not being a bad cook myself, I didn't care for it. It was a bit slimy and just not for me. Orzo is another alternative and is more pasta like and I prefer it and it is less expensive than risotto. Both are more expensive than rice but when it comes down to it, I'd just rather cook rice. Rinse rice well to remove the gluey starch and use the long cooking method (no "Minute Rice") and you'll have a nice dish. Long grain Indian rice is very fluffy and I found the best, if you can find the genuine version of it.

This dish would probably cost in the ranges of £25-30 because of the lobster (Switch to Maine Lobster) and the risotto, which has a lot of work or labor to make it perfectly.

LOL - Yeah, radishes aren't for everyone, that's for sure. I was freestyling a bit on this dinner, and wanted to go with an unusual veggie side that took hints of color from the lobster.

Most of the cooking brushes I've previously purchased were not great quality, and the bristles would separate. I've found that using good quality paint brushes cost about the same, but can give you better results...

Broil the lobster tails until their internal temperature reaches 135º-140º F.

Need's a little practice on the commentating, you can tell he hasn't this recipe often or he's just nervous in front of the camera! Other then that looked amazing, and dude, you're a great chef/cook, this video totally prompted me to buy lobster tail's tonight and follow your recipe to the tee. Although I accompanied my broiled tail's with a small NY Striploin and twice-baked potatoes, it was just as if not more enjoyable! I digress though, great video and impressive cooking, keep it up!

+GS Wing Nut I thought the video quality was terrible...did it even focus for you? There was just too much bouncing around and out of focus for me to even watch the video. I did like the topic and also the few clips of the results show it was nice cooking but man, not only does he need a lapel mic, but also a tripod. Some short hand-held clips are acceptable, but an entire video's worth will give most people a headache or even motion sickness. I bet there would be 5 times as many subscribers if the cook got some better gear to film with. Even just a couple of cheap point and shoot cameras on tripods in certain spots in the kitchen would make it almost professional.

To be completely honest that doesn't look very appetizing. Look at that watery risotto, and look at bok choy it looks over cooked, lastly that lobster tail does not look fresh. A+ for the effort but D- on the execution.

I hate the presentation, sorry to burst your bubble but how I like my lobster is poached with fennel, star anise, coriander, and a bay leaf. Served on potatoes that have been boiled then pan fried to give color. With a baby leaf salad and saffron mayonnaise.

That brown thing you pulled out is the Lobsters Poop. If your gentle you wont get shit all over your lobster. Since you were not gentle you got lobster shit all over your lobster.. That is fine as long as you rinse it off or clean it off in some way. It's too bad you ruined this video by leaving lobster shit all over your tails. Disgusting

Critics astound me. If it's not movie critics downing a movie because the costumes or dialogue weren't how they like, its a food critic like you who can't appreciate the simplicity involved in cooking a particular dish. People like me looking for a simple way to cook and prepare lobster tails, have found this video and are grateful to individuals willing to share that knowledge. Unlike you, we aren't michelin inspectors spanning youtube for videos to determine who gets the next michelin star.

Aaron VM how mistaken you are. This is not about Michelin stars. This is about cooking in its simplest way possible. In this case there is someone who is an amateur doing things that are wrong. That risotto is a disaster and so is the pak choi. End of story. I still stick to my comment and say that it is amazing how much bad cooking can be found on RU-vid.
