I'll admit it. I get confused by impulse speed. Sometimes it seems to be really fast and other times it's a crawl! In Star Trek 6 they leave out at 1/4 impulse and they go FLYING out!!!
There is a channel called Certifiably Ingame that has several videos on Impulse engines and speeds. He tries to use canon when he can, but the canon in the various iterations has been a bit all over the place, much like how warp speeds are a hodge podge of numbers.
@@kentvesser9484 EXACTLY! In ST 3, Kirk orders 1/4 Impulse, and they CRAWL outta space dock. 6, he orders same speed, the go out like a catapult on an aircraft carrier!!
