STEALTH TARP CAMP in the woods (with SILVERANT OUTDOORS cookware !) ** SHERWOOD FOREST **

This week, I decided to explore my local woodland and see if I could find a little area to set up a stealthy tarp camp. There were dog walkers and horse riders on the psths close by, so i needed to be hidden.
I have had my tarp for a while now but never used it to make shelters before, so I decided now was the time to have a go. I watched some videos on knots and tarp shelter making, but it's so much more tricky when you try it on your own, haha!
Sauce debate...ketchup or brown on a bacon sarnie??? 😃
Hope you enjoy this little video! xx

This made for a lovely morning watch...! Really good again & seeing U try new bits out... I've been doing similar over the past 2years... Have big camped for 50yrs, tents, caravans, van, trailers, etc... BUT, wild camping & backpacking is a whole new challenge...!😄 Think I've actually got my perfect kit now...🙏 For burner I've stuck to using methylated spirit, as it's only alcohol although it's purple...!🤣 (Do NOT Drink it...!❌ As it will send U bind & will die...!😕🙄🤔👎😄) However, I think it burns less fierce & therefore abit longer, plus is easy to get from a DIY store... I also have a simmer-plate-cap (as I call it!) for my Spirit Burner, so that's good to control the flame & also reduce amount of fuel used...👍 All good fun trying new kit, oh & U know that the Conker was a Chestnut, right...!?🌰🤔 😯Bonus...!🤣 Get em in the Pan...!🏞️🔥🏕️🌄

Hi Lilu Nice to see you out and about again, firstly if it's sausage and/or bacon it's got to be brown sauce (red sauce is for chips), secondly those conkers you were throwing around were actually chestnuts, you could have had roast chestnuts with your tea, conker shells have a lot less spikes with gaps between the spikes, they usually contain one round conker but can have more inside and they'll make you very ill if you eat them, chestnut (sweet chestnut) shells are covered in spikes criss crossing each other, the spikes are very soft and flexible, there are usually two or more heart shaped/tear shaped nuts inside, they are nice to eat as they are but much better if roasted, harvest time is usually around October and peaks December/ish, I tried to leave a link with some info but youtube won't let me. Anyway, loved the video and your new bits of kit, you seem to be getting a bit more confident in what you're doing and all aspects of the solo wild camp, I suspect it won't be too long before you're going on multi day hundred mile plus solo wild camps, keep safe and keep trekking., atb

Sherwood forest is a gorgeous part of the world. My aunt lived in Arnold, we spent many weekends exploring it as a youngster. As for red or brown on a bacon bap, I think you really need to try both! It's a game changer 👌 great Vlog Lisa.

Have you ever thought about being a Police Officer? Just the vibe I get from watching your video. You need to look up the Pathfinder ridge line and tarp setup on RU-vid or Coalcracker tarp setup. I use the hasty ridgeline they teach, which works very well once you organize your kit. The hasty ridge line and some simple knots save you heaps of fumbling around if the weather is bad when you need shelter. Have a look? Enjoyed your video and I hope you do more of them. Thanks!😊

This is your best video so far regarding presentation, editing and background music. You have a very beautiful face which is seen to full effect when looking directly into the camera. Obviously, you don't want to be continuously looking at the camera. It is most effective towards the end of the video when you are summarising and noting future events. Cool video, most of my videos/wildcamping is in the woods, that was a buzzard you heard, meths stoves are brilliant, you just have to watch it with titanium, as it can burn food really quickly, there is a bushcraft fb group @3 counties bushcraft group, covers derby/notrs/lincs, we have camps 2 weekend of the month, so this coming weekend in fact, Fri to Sun, held at a cracking forest school site near newark, great company, good laughs, good food, and a great opportunity to gain some knowledge, in all areas of the outdoors, if there's a skill you want to learn, you'll be able to learn it here. Cant beat a bacon roll and a brew in the woods, good health and safe travels, cheers craig

Hi Lisa. A few years ago I cycled from the south side of Nottingham to Sherwood forest. I tucked myself away in a part of the forest where few people would go and off the main path. Set up my stick burning stove and got water boiling for a coffee only for an elderly couple to walk past with their dog so good work getting a nice quiet spot all to yourself. The stove you are using in the video is not multi-fuel, it is for alcohol only, well, unless you want a to have a bad day and a visit to hospital. That type of burner is not designed for fuels such as petrol, white gas, Coleman fuel, paraffin etc.
@AdventuresWithLilu
@AdventuresWithLilu Год назад
The SilverAnt Titanium camping stove can be used with multiple fuel sources. You can choose to use alcohol, solid fuel tablets, or petrol. The versatility in fuel sources makes it a functional and robust titanium multi-fuel stove. For those travelling where access to fuel alternatives like gas canisters is limited. A titanium multi-fuel stove is perfect. Use your stove in all seasons and conditions. (Extracted from website)

@iwalker3809
@iwalker3809 Год назад
@@AdventuresWithLiluPlease, please, please, only put meths or bioethanol in that burner. In an emergency, you could burn solid fuel tablets or hand sanitizer in it.
@chrisgreen8916
@chrisgreen8916 Год назад
I read the stuff on the web site but its wrong and is just marketing blurb I am sad to say. Petrol burns too violently and needs to be carefully metered through a valve and jet (such as on a Coleman stove) neither of which this stove has. It is basically a Trangia burner but made of Titanium. There are videos on RU-vid demonstrating what happens when you use the wrong fuel in a Trangia or alcohol burner. Solid fuel tablets would work but I expect they would not burn efficiently if placed inside the burner due to restricted air flow.
@iwalker3809
@iwalker3809 Год назад
@@chrisgreen8916Hi Chris. Just wondering if you also think that the yellow flames coming from the burner and licking up the side of the frypan are excessive. I'd be wary of getting burnt fingers. Noticed that the windshield doesn't have any vent holes along its bottom edge and might that cause poor combustion. Any thoughts ?

@#adventureswithlilu I see someone has been practicing thier knots!!! Well done !! Its probably somthing I should do... was in the scouts as a kid , have been camping for decades . Yet I still can't do any knots. I just tie everthing with a bow.. those pegs are rather nice . Didn't expect them with a tarp. If you see the old fashioned mop heads buy one.. each chord on the mop head makes an excellent whick for your ferro rods... the helm compact 2 is known as the little tank because it's sturdy , though quite heavy olso. Somthing to consider. Am loving the progress you are making so quickly... stay safe and shine on xxx

Awesome video, I really enjoyed watching it! I like how you’d already tested the stove and frying pan at home beforehand. That’s a good tip, which is often overlooked on lots of other wild camping videos. I was very impressed by the fire steel setup, as I’ve never seen one that comes with a wick before. One of the best wild tinder’s for starting fires is thistledown, which can be found on the dead plant even in the heart of winter, usually matted to the stem from the rain. It’s one of the most flammable tinder’s you can find here in the UK!

I would be interested to know what knots you used for your ridgeline. I know you struggled with them, but it would be good to see more detail on this. Thanks for sharing.

@@AdventuresWithLilu For some reason I was scared of learning knots. 🤷‍♂️ I now have a whole four knots in my repertoire! Check out the Farrimond hitch. Adjustable and quick release. It’s my go to for my ridgeline (for now).

I use a tragia 27, it has alcohol stove and gas burner with it. Works well and you have 3 pots and pans. And has a windshield. Try a pocho and liner they work well, not perfect but light, and can be worn as a jacket, used as a basha, sleep system. Very veratile. Some even comoflage patters.

I don't have to tell you this, but the ridge was wayyyy too slack. Use a Truckers hitch which will get it bow string tight... The to tie off you guy lines use a sliding adjustable knot to tie them off.. Alos you are probably better of setting it up higher to get some head room..
@AdventuresWithLilu
