A couple of corrections to the video based on feedback from the comments. 1) The Avatar Warmech from C&C 3 can acquire a personal stealth generator from a Stealth tank. I will include this feature of the Avatar in a future video about mechanical walkers. 2) I forgot to mention the Allied Phase Tank from Red Alert 1. It may have actually been the first stealth tank; since RA 1 is tied to the Tiberium timeline. So it is possible that the technology used for the Nod Stealth Tank may be based off that of the Phase Tank. I'll be sure to mention the Phase Tank in future videos dealing with lore in the RA timeline/universe.
@@noahezer9295 No one can say with a 100% certainty which campaign from RA 1 leads to the Tiberium timeline. Former Westwood developers in the past have said the Allied campaigns were always assumed to be canon. Then EA took over the franchise after shutting down Westwood and has never made any real mention on that specific issue. This means that, for myself, I default back to what the original WW developers said, that the Allied campaign is the canon one that leads to the Tiberium timeline. It's fine if you disagree, but that's my stance on the issue.
"GDI sniper teams were particularly good at keeping themselves hidden using more traditional means of stealth, such as wearing appropriately camouflaged uniforms, allowing them to blend in to their surrounding environment" *Sniper team is wearing bright orange clothing*
Im really biased of course but Kane really is one of the best and unfortunatley most underated villains of "modern" fiction. Joseph Kucans performance is PERFECT.
The cloaking generator could distinguish between units with something like an rfid chip. Only certain codes or frequencies would be allowed. Thus only allied forces would gain the effect. It could thus produce multiple mini domes over authorized areas rather than one large dome of effect.
Makes a lot sense given the universe is already capable of producing Laser Tech, Automated Turrets, and the Stealth Tech discussed in the video. It's not that far of a stretch if at all to think RFID would exist and for such purposes. In one of the Tiberian Dawn cutscenes where the Obelisk of Light is introduced we can see such a system of some similarity being used.
I think it's a dome, because otherwise it would be a "stealth array". It seems there is one central part of the building, that generates the effect, and the rest are supporting it. Meaning only 1 antenna, 1 dome. However, in cnc3, we can see smaller tower. Which are smaller version of the big dome. If all those would be connected, like how the turrets are, they were to be an array. It would be nice, if in cnc5, we could get a stealth array. Basically, 1 big source, and other close by amplificators that strengthen the effect, in smaller domes. This would mean, that small skirmishes are less likely to damage the whole, but bigger skirmishes and strikes would be more rewarding. It would make sense in lore too. As in lore, instead of having a giant building, you could just be putting the amplificators to every building, like an upgrade, to hide them. This way NOD forces could be in a city, but also hidden. This would eliminate the failures of the second tiberium war, and would combine the successes the third war, into a more developed, more standard setup, taking the best of both worlds.
It's interesting how the Black Hand was integral to testing and deploying NOD's earliest stealth tech, but later eschewed stealth technology all together during and after TW2, particularly under Marcion as NOD's stealth technology proliferated again to other unit types. Quite a doctrinal shift once their role and existence came out into the open eyes of the public.
Tell me about it, from sneaky commando troops who assassinated their leader for exposing their existence to the general public to becoming an organization resembling a combination of the Imperial Commissariat, Ecclesiarchy, and shock troops from Warhammer 40k in a period of like 2 years from the assassination of Anton Slavik to the activation of LEGION.
The Black Hand was compromised thanks to Marcion. There are Intelligence Datas in C&C3 suggesting that Marcion was put into power much like General Hassan was. In addition to what you said, the Black Hand was supposed to be a high echelon sub-organisation that was not meant to be made public even to those within Nod. This was admittedly Slavik's fault when he made an open declaration he was a Black Hand.
The Cloaking Field support power could be nanite based technology: Nanites will swarm onto objects and cover the entire surface with a cloaking coat. Any living organism would die of asphyxia because mouth and nose would be sealed.
Good thinking. My opinion is that it is some kindof high energy field that induces a stealth "charge" on the target with vehocles beeing fine as they are a faraday cage but normal infantry litarly getting cooked by the high energy input
@@Blutwind That's still kind of in line with the stealth generator producing an (energy) field. I suspect that you are correct that it is a high energy field, but its not so much the power yield of the field so much as it's sudden and spontaneous eruption that is changing the properties of those within it. That much energy that warps material to bend light could create a synaptic shock to infantry units that are directly exposed to it. A stealth generator on the other hand has a continuous field that does not warp the material of those inside it so much as simply shielding them.
Either that or as I've explained, a specialized generator from the Ops Center that creates the field releases *A LOT* of pressure that is safe for vehicles and their crew but a death sentence for infantry exposed to it... Just like with the Iron Curtain in RA2 and RA3...
one of the best things about these videos is the fact that he refuses under any circumstance to reference or even mention C&C4, keep up the great work man
The old MSG/Artillery/Rocket Trooper pack hunters was one of my favorite in Firestorm, nothing like a couple Orca bombers going artillery hunting only to get shot down by a dozen rocket launchers.
I will always and forever love my Orca Bombers. Nothing like dropping HE on lines of tick tanks and artillery trying to rush my slowly growing army of titans
22:06 GD-2s have interchangeable barrels, allowing for rounds of different caliber to be chambered. This could explain why even the spotter can fire similar bullets to the sniper.
In reference to the Stealth Generator in the Second Tiberium War, its possible that it would use IR sensors in order to distinguish between allied and enemy force. Similar to the U.S. Militaries uniforms, there are little IR sensors on the uniforms so that other allied forces can tell that they U.S. forces.
Well I think that was only the Army and I think it was detached and only used for specific deployments. Trick with any military is a discrete, fast and accurate IFF. You got 2 parties, challenge (person aiming) and challenged (person being aimed at). Also methods you got Active and you got Passive. Getting the accuracy wrong means the challenged will fall victim to fratercide. Being too slow will result in the challenger coming under attack. Passive is more discrete but harder to see and can delay ID. Active is quick but also more exposed. Everything has a trade off.
@@Marinealver I'm pretty sure anyone responding incorrectly should not be fired upon if they're willing to give up their position by responding to a challenge. Fratricide is quite embarrassing for the guard or guards in question after all, not to mention higher especially if the poor sods are from an allied force. If they pass a simple common sense check I would give an order for the challenged party to adopt a position of surrender and radio the situation to the Sergeant of the Guard in most circumstances if they do not take hostile action or attempt to flee. God forbid you wax a friendly element from a different unit just because they're lost or some shit and don't know your unit's challenge and response words.
Stealth tech, some of my favorite tech in the C&C franchise. Especially the Vertigo. Wondering when we'll get a Vertigo irl. (I mean stealth combined with the light phasing tech used by NOD) Only thing I never understood is if light is bended from the tank, how do the tank personal see outside? Like, does the stealth tank have sonar instead?
I kinda like the idea of Stealth tech, but I suck so much playing with Nod that I can't make use of it. Seriously, I suck so much with Nod that I've never finished ANY of the Nod Campaigns in C&C. I always get stuck and frustrated somewhere in the second half of it. The only exception being C&C3 on Easy difficulty... I'm ashamed lol
@@Darkdaej The easiest I would say is the tiberian sun NOD campaign. As NOD's artillery units were OP. Once you unlocked them, enemy basically stands no chance.
Could be it could also just be at a frequency we can't see. so it's shimmering and it's body could be made radar resistant so if they did show up it would be faint. That would allow the pilot to see by using a video feed with a program that filters the shimmer
A reason for the stealth support power killing infantry, a huge amount of radiation is sent to that area, this kind of radiation makes certain composites ( like tank armor) to bend light, but the radiation is so strong that it affects living tissue in a degrading pattern, like a paint sprayed in the armor, but it's lethal to tissue.
Interesting detail about GDI Snipers in CnC3 is that if the marksman is killed, the voice line set changes to be more jittery and anxious since the spotter is left alone to fend for himself, it has no impact in gameplay though besides lacking the second shot, the spotter is just as deadly as the marksman.
This maybe some over my head speculation but I think the cloak field support power in Tiberium wars maybe related to the Chronosphere technology in a way. I say this as The Chronosphere was only able to work on vehicles but killed infantry if used. If we go by the theorized timeline of the Tiberium timeline taking place during the Soviet victory in Red Alert 1 then it could be argued that Kane was able to salvage some of the tech following it’s destruction. Perhaps intentionally sabotaging the tech from being recovered by Stalin so it could be snuck away. But again, this is some wild speculation that may not be true at all.
Actually this is my theory too. The Chronosphere was based on the Philadelphia Experiment which was originally supposed to be an attempt to make a ship radar stealth but ended up accidentally transporting it. In Red Alert:The Aftermath the Allies develop the Phase Tank, which is effectively a stealth tank, in another mission the Soviets Steal it. Lastly, what do those spheres in the track sections of the TD stealth tank remind you of? My guess is that originally WW intended stealth technology as some sort of phasing an object out of reality, which probably also better explains how the TS stealth generator works (also notice how the stealth generator has a sphere)
After using them in combat i hated stealth tanks from td and ts, but damn did they upgrade it in tw. And kanes wrath just made it even better with missle upgrades.
Such a treat to watch Lore videos of one of the best games imo. The organized info is just too good, and delivery is even better. Thanks a LOT for these gems.
You could probably add that the stealth field of C&C Renegade stealth soldier could be extended to another person, in that cutscene where Dr. Petrova revealed she's working with Nod and a stealth soldier carried Sydney away, cloaking her body as well. The mutated Petrova could also cloak herself, even when not wearing the stealth suit. GDI vehicle design in C&C 3 was said to have stealth design in the sense of being undetected by radar, this was from the C&C 3 design manual.
So it is true! I've also heard about GDI using stealth on their vehicles. Not nearly as good as the stealth Nod used, but definitely better than the stuff we use today in the sense that it can make it more difficult for radar and weapons to lock on or detect the vehicle if they can detect it at all.
I am loving these videos. I've been subbed for a while. I'm surprised you don't use any footage from RenegadeX seeing as it is much better in terms of graphics for a lot of your demonstrations. Just a suggestion! Keep up the great work!
Well when a “certain party” has it their way, it’s about a person with two moms. When sane people have it their way, it’s about being as strong as possible to defend the country.
@@derkatwork33 Exactly. And in order to get the proper defense in GDI a tough enemy is needed to rile things up...and that is the Brotherhood of Nod. Either that or an Alien Invasion but i think with the Brotherhood the human race has a far greater chance of survival.
Looking at all the new stealth units in TW and KW and especially the permanent cloaking field support power I think that a good lore reason for the disruption tower not being able to cloak itself is the much cheaper production of the building. The third war was planned and started by nod so a wide scale production of full stealth generators might have not been feasible. The disruption tower offered an option to provide stealth options for most combat operations. A good indicator is also its much smaller size compared to the old stealth generator making me think that there must've been significant technological progress.
Another fantastic video. Also Fan Theory: What if Prince Kassad (the GLA stealth specialist) actually escaped/avoided being killed during Deathstrike's unification campaign and was taken in by Nod?
@@RC-qv9in Thank you. Since in Tiberium Dawn that it's stated that Nod has ties to terrorist group around the world so it's plausible the main problem is the timelines. The First Tiberium War starts in 1997 while the First GLA War started in 2013 and Kassad is 34 around the time of Deathstrike taking power in the GLA
You think the gdi would think to keep nod's tech data in more then one place after the first time nod takes it back, nod has it so there's no need to make sure it's only in a heavily build up base.
@@RC-qv9in gdi: ok we just need to copy this to some flash drives. But that would take away from the money for the extra closests. Budget cuts, I'm I right.
10:05 *COATING YOUR BUILDINGS* or perhaps put them under a voltage of sorts... something JUST nod buildings have. or use some kind of tiberium shenanigans (like impure metal) ... which also explains nods overall cheaper +weaker units! *THERE YOU GO* :D
sometimes i like to imagine that since red alert 1 had a phase tank and kane was apart of that history that the phase technogoly was intergrated into the brotherhood of nod.
"Hey Kane, we could just take a small, reguarly armored and armed tank, with good crew safety and cloak it." "Cool. But I think we should make the drive sit in the turret and make it far more futury-looking for no reason."
Great video and Great work, continue like this man :) Iam so glad Ive found your channel, So much lore Ive never knew there was haha Once again, keep up the good work :)
I can tell you how the generator can discern between a GDI-unit and a Nod-unit... IFF-signals (IFF: Identifier Friend/Foe). Units with a positive IFF-return are friendly units, units with a negative IFF-return are hostile units and thus denied the shrouding effect.
Am I crazy, or was one of the names for the Stealth soldiers in Renegade "Chameleons"? I may be mistaking them for something else, but I swear I've seen them be referred to as Chameleons as well as Stealth Black Hand
first of all... LOVED THE PRESENTATION AND MUSIC CHOISES FOR A NICE CALM 'de-brief' like layout! ''nod stealth ninjas bypassed the outer etc....planting beacons letting artility fire at...'' XD i just love that part...for it shows how the script where motivated by 'plot power' forgetting the 'theater' as ther sole focuse is the 'center player'.....one reason for an outer perimeter/force..is to deny massed attacks the chance to strike without warning at critical none mobile or fragile assets so ,the strike teams should been able to wreak havoc if able to outwit the internal forces...but the artys ? nha nha...to approach close enough they would been guned down by the outer forces that should been on full alert for precisely that kind of support follow up on the infiltration..and way to heavy entrenched or strong to be taken out by the infiltrators themselfs. and if anyone want to argue the nod artys hade such a range advantage they could strike outside of even the outer perimeter range..wich should include some long range options itself.. well....why bother risking the infiltration units then ? but ye , guess the previous games not showed much of that kind of 'plotholes' lees out of deep thought and more just...engine limits denying any 'in game' cut scene stuff. much like some of the factions techs limits...or magical ''know who i belong to'' functions is for balance ..sighs.. i miss proper asymetric rts ,specialy the ones that toyed with workshop functions..but idiotic big publishers just wanted to copy C&C in the early 2000's so all those other variants of rts some with more deepths others just with different command approach only lives in in drm free sites trying to keep them curated to sell , or community sites doing it out of sheer fun.
I've also heard from threads that GDI made use of "Generation 6 stealth," which isn't as good as Nod stealth, but similar to modern stealth technology, can make it more difficult for radars and targeting systems to lock on if the radars are advanced enough to detect in the first place. Has anyone else heard anything about that?
Upvoted and commented for the algorithm. You should put out a RU-vid post too for better visibility! Also not really lore required but could you consider to make a video of CnC Story of censorship? In the German version you do not see Kane killing Seth. Also all soldiers are androids in the earlier games. (Which is funny since nod creates real cyborgs later.) Also generals removed suicide squads and put rolling bombs instead in.
@@Groza_Dallocort it already began with the first Cnc and subsequently red alert. Tib sun followed. Ich think the first Cnc which featured real soldiers in Germany was tib wars.
I remember annoying my friends with these when playing Tiberian Sun skirmish with them, unless they were GDI and had sensors, they never knew when 10 stealth tanks might ambush their harvesters or random building.
