My thoughts exactly. Was over there in 1995. It's easy to get lost even when your sober. I visited too many coffee shops. Missed the train and boat back to UK so had to re-book for the next day!😂
They’re switched on to wild campers in the Netherlands. I tried stealth camping on a few occasions and got caught a couple of times. It was only when I went out into the outer industrial estates did I manage to successfully camp. I’m so glad I was recommended your channel, great content.
Vondelpark has always been an obvious place to catch out rough sleepers, not actual homeless of Amsterdam as they know not to go there, more the broke/stranded tourist type. You said outer industrial estates so I'm guessing you mean out west i.e. Sloterdijk/Westpoort area, that's pretty easy. There's a bit of ''wild'' land nearby called De Bretten where I wild camped quite a bit.
@@simonh6371 yes I had success in Westpoort, spotted it on my way to the ferry which takes you to zandaam. It was near a wind turbine and next to some kind of water run off channel. I was sleeping in a bush and there was a rope hanging from a branch, I remember that rope sketching me out because it looked like someone had unlifed themselves there perhaps. I stayed there for a week. I also had success just sleeping on public footpaths too, got spotted a few times by early morning dog walkers as I would be packing up.. goed times

Been to Amsterdam countless times, such a beautiful city and so much to see you could never do it in even a few trips. That said, whilst recognising many sights I've still never been in that park despite having gone past it several times. But another great video & trip, you sure get around and that's pretty unique from the RU-vid stealth campers. So your doing bloody well Chris, well done.

That was good, great video👍and yes, it's hard finding accommodation there but I did back in 2005 eventually. Good getaway and a quick change, hope that customs didn't ask you to take your boots off to search for any joey blowey. 😮

Heya! I'm a yank who lived in England for 7 years and now live in the Netherlands. I work RIGHT next to Vondelpark! Sub for having the gonads to try and camp there! Next time here check out Castricum near the beach. There are forest areas and beach areas with LOTS of brush but still needing stealth as quite popular with tourists and locals. 👍
Stealth camping is harder in EU I think. Unless you go to really outside suburbs, specially industrial ones (well, there are other risks there given how dodgy those places tend to be..). Urban environments in EU tend to be very cramped, busy and in many cases under vigilance.
So weird to see you wildcamping in my country, amazing! Amsterdam is a tourist attraction, the rest of the country is very different. Warm greetings from the Netherlands!

Can’t think of a tougher city to stealth camp in than Amsterdam - it’s one of the most highly visited cities in Europe, plus you’ve got the added paranoia that the weed will give you, since being caught stealth camping in a foreign country is likely to be more highly punished - not quite buster bloodvesseled here but you may have been if you went through with it! Still, it was a good video! Brought back lots of fond memories of when I used to visit that great city on a regular basis….

Great watch & great crack for my Saturday morning Chris, but that was one quick trip...! Amsterdam is a crazy place, brought back some memories which i then realised was almost 20 years ago...😐 Me & two mates did a 3/4 day trip, Dover to Calais Ferry & then I drove through France & Belgium to Holland, booked a single room apartment online, was just on outskirts in quieter area, which had bunkbeds & clean basic facilities, was on a top floor of a tall skinny building & the stairs up were almost vertical...! Great crack, U must have been knackered, but good on ya & look forward to the next...!👍✔️💯👊...

Vondelpark, and plenty other places in and around Amsterdam are prime locations for some excellent stealth camping. But it's absolutely teeming with enforcement. Gets worse in the more touristy areas. Therein lies the real challenge...

That's funny, I live there actually, just 2 kilometers from where you set off the alarm. My best bet is that there was an alarm there because some of the bigger buildings, especially at the east side of the Vondelpark, are owned by top financial companies, law firms and real estate companies and some of the most expensive buildings in town. Next time try the west and south side where the poor live lol. Hope you enjoyed your stay anyway.
If I'm not mistaken the building where you tried to set camp is the one building in the entire city that got blurred on Google Earth. Might be that the national bank keeps its gold there or the US Army has a safe house there, who knows.

You should have gone further outside of the tourist area. Take tram 17 to osdorp and camp near the Sloterplas. Or go near schiphol at the Amsterdamse Bos.
Your an absolute natural with the camera mind. Absolutely no falseness can tell that a mile off! Shame about the camp but great watch! Really enjoyed it 😊
Had headphones on high setting for stealthcamping ASMR & almost shat my pants ehen the alarm went off. I was expecting a LEO inspectionn, alarmsound was a surprise indeed!

I doubt if they were following him, they regularly drive through Vondelpark day and night, and other parks too. But he'd have got caught and moved on and maybe given a fine too if he'd slept out in the open overnight.
